Linux-2.6.12-rc2 Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history, even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about 3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good infrastructure for it. Let it rip!

[PATCH] Linux Kernel Dump Test Module A simple module to test Linux Kernel Dump mechanism. This module uses jprobes to install/activate pre-defined crash points. At different crash points, various types of crashing scenarios are created like a BUG(), panic(), exception, recursive loop and stack overflow. The user can activate a crash point with specific type by providing parameters at the time of module insertion. Please see the file header for usage information. The module is based on the Linux Kernel Dump Test Tool by Fernando <http://lkdtt.sourceforge.net>. This module could be merged with mainline. Jprobes is used here so that the context in which crash point is hit, could be maintained. This implements all the crash points as done by LKDTT except the one in the middle of tasklet_action(). Driver for the Atmel on-chip SSC on AT32AP and AT91 The Synchronous Serial Controller (SSC) on Atmel microprocessors are capable of tranceiving many frame based protocols, like I2S. Tested on the AT32AP7000/ATSTK1000. This driver is used in the ALSA sound driver for the AT73C213 external DAC on the ATSTK1000 development board for AVR32. This sound driver will be submitted soon. atmel_tc library Create <linux/atmel_tc.h> based on <asm-arm/arch-at91/at91-tc.h> and the at91sam9263 and at32ap7000 datasheets. Most AT91 and AT32 SOCs have one or two of these TC blocks, which include three 16-bit timers that can be interconnected in various ways. These TC blocks can be used for external interfacing (such as PWM and measurement), or used as somewhat quirky sixteen-bit timers. Changes relative to the original version: * Drop unneeded inclusion of <linux/mutex.h> * Support an arbitrary number of TC blocks * Return a struct with information about a TC block from atmel_tc_alloc() instead of using a combination of return values and "out" parameters. * ioremap() the I/O registers on allocation * Look up clocks and irqs for all channels * Add "name" parameter to atmel_tc_alloc() and use this when requesting the iomem resource. * Check if the platform provided the necessary resources at probe() time instead of when the TCB is allocated. [PATCH] ioc4: Enable build on non-SN2 The SGI PCI-RT card, based on the SGI IOC4 chip, will be made available on Altix XE (x86_64) platforms in the near future. As such it is now a misnomer for the IOC4 base device driver to live under drivers/sn, and would complicate builds for non-SN2. This patch moves the IOC4 base driver code from drivers/sn to drivers/misc, and updates the associated Makefiles and Kconfig files to allow building on non-SN2 configs. Due to the resulting change in link order, it is now necessary to use late_initcall() for IOC4 subdriver initialization. kgdb: add kgdb internal test suite This patch adds regression tests for testing the kgdb core and arch specific implementation. The kgdb test suite is designed to be built into the kernel and not as a module because it uses a number of low level kernel and kgdb primitives which should not be exported externally. The kgdb test suite is designed as a KGDB I/O module which simulates the communications that a debugger would have with kgdb. The tests are broken up in to a line by line and referenced here as a "get" which is kgdb requesting input and "put" which is kgdb sending a response. The kgdb suite can be invoked from the kernel command line arguments system or executed dynamically at run time. The test suite uses the variable "kgdbts" to obtain the information about which tests to run and to configure the verbosity level. The following are the various characters you can use with the kgdbts= line: When using the "kgdbts=" you only choose one of the following core test types: A = Run all the core tests silently V1 = Run all the core tests with minimal output V2 = Run all the core tests in debug mode You can also specify optional tests: N## = Go to sleep with interrupts of for ## seconds to test the HW NMI watchdog F## = Break at do_fork for ## iterations S## = Break at sys_open for ## iterations NOTE: that the do_fork and sys_open tests are mutually exclusive. To invoke the kgdb test suite from boot you use a kernel start argument as follows: kgdbts=V1 kgdbwait Or if you wanted to perform the NMI test for 6 seconds and do_fork test for 100 forks, you could use: kgdbts=V1N6F100 kgdbwait The test suite can also be invoked at run time with: echo kgdbts=V1N6F100 > /sys/module/kgdbts/parameters/kgdbts Or as another example: echo kgdbts=V2 > /sys/module/kgdbts/parameters/kgdbts When developing a new kgdb arch specific implementation or using these tests for the purpose of regression testing, several invocations are required. 1) Boot with the test suite enabled by using the kernel arguments "kgdbts=V1F100 kgdbwait" ## If kgdb arch specific implementation has NMI use "kgdbts=V1N6F100 2) After the system boot run the basic test. echo kgdbts=V1 > /sys/module/kgdbts/parameters/kgdbts 3) Run the concurrency tests. It is best to use n+1 while loops where n is the number of cpus you have in your system. cs5535: add a generic MFGPT driver This is based on the old code on arch/x86/kernel/mfgpt_32.c, except it's not x86 specific, it's modular, and it makes use of a PCI BAR rather than a random MSR. Currently module unloading is not supported; it's uncertain whether or not it can be made work with the hardware. HP iLO driver A driver for the HP iLO/iLO2 management processor, which allows userspace programs to query the management processor. Programs can open a channel to the device (/dev/hpilo/dXccbN), and use this to send/receive queries. The O_EXCL open flag is used to indicate that a particular channel cannot be shared between processes. This driver will replace various packages HP has shipped, including hprsm and hp-ilo. vmware balloon: rename module In an effort to minimize customer confusion we want to unify naming convention for VMware-provided kernel modules. This change renames the balloon driver from vmware_ballon to vmw_balloon. We expect to follow this naming convention (vmw_<module_name>) for all modules that are part of mainline kernel and/or being distributed by VMware, with the sole exception of vmxnet3 driver (since the name of mainline driver happens to match with the name used in VMware Tools). add Packet hub driver for Topcliff Platform controller hub Packet hub driver of Topcliff PCH Topcliff PCH is the platform controller hub that is going to be used in Intel's upcoming general embedded platform. All IO peripherals in Topcliff PCH are actually devices sitting on AMBA bus. Packet hub is a special converter device in Topcliff PCH that translate AMBA transactions to PCI Express transactions and vice versa. Thus packet hub helps present all IO peripherals in Topcliff PCH as PCIE devices to IA system. Topcliff PCH has MAC address and Option ROM data. These data are in SROM which is connected to PCIE bus. misc: generic on-chip SRAM allocation driver This driver requests and remaps a memory region as configured in the device tree. It serves memory from this region via the genalloc API. It optionally enables the SRAM clock. Other drivers can retrieve the genalloc pool from a phandle pointing to this drivers' device node in the device tree. The allocation granularity is hard-coded to 32 bytes for now, to make the SRAM driver useful for the 6502 remoteproc driver. There is overhead for bigger SRAMs, where only a much coarser allocation granularity is needed: At 32 bytes minimum allocation size, a 256 KiB SRAM needs a 1 KiB bitmap to track allocations. misc: sram: Integrate protect-exec reserved sram area type Introduce a new "protect-exec" reserved sram area type which is makes use of the the existing functionality provided for the "pool" sram region type for use with the genalloc framework and with the added requirement that it be maintained as read-only and executable while allowing for an arbitrary number of drivers to share the space. This introduces a common way to maintain a region of sram as read-only and executable and also introduces a helper function, sram_exec_copy, which allows for copying data to this protected region while maintaining locking to avoid conflicts between multiple users of the same space. A region of memory that is marked with the "protect-exec" flag in the device tree also has the requirement of providing a page aligned block of memory so that the page attribute manipulation does not affect surrounding regions. Also, selectively enable this only for builds that support set_memory_* calls, for now just ARM, through the use of Kconfig. cxl: Add base builtin support This adds the base cxl support that cannot be built as a module. Specifically it adds the cxl callbacks that are called from the core powerpc mm code which must always exist irrespective of if the cxl module is loaded or not. This is similar to how cell works with CONFIG_SPU_BASE. This adds a cxl_slbia() call (similar to spu_flush_all_slbs()) which checks if the cxl module is loaded and in use, returning immediately if it is not. If it is in use it calls into the cxl SLB invalidation code.
