2f31cd1e64 crypto: authencesn - reject short ahash digests during instance creation
commit 5db6ef9847 upstream.

authencesn requires either a zero authsize or an authsize of at least
4 bytes because the ESN encrypt/decrypt paths always move 4 bytes of
high-order sequence number data at the end of the authenticated data.

While crypto_authenc_esn_setauthsize() already rejects explicit
non-zero authsizes in the range 1..3, crypto_authenc_esn_create()
still copied auth->digestsize into inst->alg.maxauthsize without
validating it. The AEAD core then initialized the tfm's default
authsize from that value.

As a result, selecting an ahash with digest size 1..3, such as
cbcmac(cipher_null), exposed authencesn instances whose default
authsize was invalid even though setauthsize() would have rejected the
same value. AF_ALG could then trigger the ESN tail handling with a
too-short tag and hit an out-of-bounds access.

Reject authencesn instances whose ahash digest size is in the invalid
non-zero range 1..3 so that no tfm can inherit an unsupported default
authsize.

a920cabdb0 crypto: algif_aead - snapshot IV for async AEAD requests
commit 5aa58c3a57 upstream.

AF_ALG AEAD AIO requests currently use the socket-wide IV buffer during
request processing. For async requests, later socket activity can
update that shared state before the original request has fully
completed, which can lead to inconsistent IV handling.

Snapshot the IV into per-request storage when preparing the AEAD
request, so in-flight operations no longer depend on mutable socket
state.

f9acceae7b crypto: af-alg - fix NULL pointer dereference in scatterwalk
[ Upstream commit 62397b493e ]

The AF_ALG interface fails to unmark the end of a Scatter/Gather List (SGL)
when chaining a new af_alg_tsgl structure. If a sendmsg() fills an SGL
exactly to MAX_SGL_ENTS, the last entry is marked as the end. A subsequent
sendmsg() allocates a new SGL and chains it, but fails to clear the end
marker on the previous SGL's last data entry.

This causes the crypto scatterwalk to hit a premature end, returning NULL
on sg_next() and leading to a kernel panic during dereference.

Fix this by explicitly unmarking the end of the previous SGL when
performing sg_chain() in af_alg_alloc_tsgl().

fee86edf58 crypto: authencesn - reject too-short AAD (assoclen<8) to match ESP/ESN spec
[ Upstream commit 2397e92646 ]

authencesn assumes an ESP/ESN-formatted AAD. When assoclen is shorter than
the minimum expected length, crypto_authenc_esn_decrypt() can advance past

543bf004e4 crypto: af_alg - zero initialize memory allocated via sock_kmalloc
[ Upstream commit 6f6e309328 ]

Several crypto user API contexts and requests allocated with
sock_kmalloc() were left uninitialized, relying on callers to
set fields explicitly. This resulted in the use of uninitialized
data in certain error paths or when new fields are added in the
future.

The ACVP patches also contain two user-space interface files:
algif_kpp.c and algif_akcipher.c. These too rely on proper
initialization of their context structures.

A particular issue has been observed with the newly added
'inflight' variable introduced in af_alg_ctx by commit:

  67b164a871 ("crypto: af_alg - Disallow multiple in-flight AIO requests")

Because the context is not memset to zero after allocation,
the inflight variable has contained garbage values. As a result,
af_alg_alloc_areq() has incorrectly returned -EBUSY randomly when
the garbage value was interpreted as true:

  https://github.com/gregkh/linux/blame/master/crypto/af_alg.c#L1209

The check directly tests ctx->inflight without explicitly
comparing against true/false. Since inflight is only ever set to
true or false later, an uninitialized value has triggered
-EBUSY failures. Zero-initializing memory allocated with
sock_kmalloc() ensures inflight and other fields start in a known
state, removing random issues caused by uninitialized data.

96001f52ae crypto: pcrypt - Call crypto layer directly when padata_do_parallel() return -EBUSY
[ Upstream commit 662f2f13e6 ]

Since commit 8f4f68e788 ("crypto: pcrypt - Fix hungtask for
PADATA_RESET"), the pcrypt encryption and decryption operations return
-EAGAIN when the CPU goes online or offline. In alg_test(), a WARN is
generated when pcrypt_aead_decrypt() or pcrypt_aead_encrypt() returns
-EAGAIN, the unnecessary panic will occur when panic_on_warn set 1.
Fix this issue by calling crypto layer directly without parallelization

435ec96011 crypto: xor - fix template benchmarking
[ Upstream commit ab9a244c39 ]

Commit c055e3eae0 ("crypto: xor - use ktime for template benchmarking")
switched from using jiffies to ktime-based performance benchmarking.

This works nicely on machines which have a fine-grained ktime()
clocksource as e.g. x86 machines with TSC.
But other machines, e.g. my 4-way HP PARISC server, don't have such
fine-grained clocksources, which is why it seems that 800 xor loops
take zero seconds, which then shows up in the logs as:

 xor: measuring software checksum speed
    8regs           : -1018167296 MB/sec
    8regs_prefetch  : -1018167296 MB/sec
    32regs          : -1018167296 MB/sec
    32regs_prefetch : -1018167296 MB/sec

Fix this with some small modifications to the existing code to improve
the algorithm to always produce correct results without introducing
major delays for architectures with a fine-grained ktime()
clocksource:
a) Delay start of the timing until ktime() just advanced. On machines
with a fast ktime() this should be just one additional ktime() call.
b) Count the number of loops. Run at minimum 800 loops and finish
earliest when the ktime() counter has progressed.

With that the throughput can now be calculated more accurately under all
conditions.

39173b04ab crypto: ecdh - explicitly zeroize private_key
[ Upstream commit 73e5984e54 ]

private_key is overwritten with the key parameter passed in by the
caller (if present), or alternatively a newly generated private key.
However, it is possible that the caller provides a key (or the newly
generated key) which is shorter than the previous key. In that
scenario, some key material from the previous key would not be
overwritten. The easiest solution is to explicitly zeroize the entire
private_key array first.

Note that this patch slightly changes the behavior of this function:
previously, if the ecc_gen_privkey failed, the old private_key would
remain. Now, the private_key is always zeroized. This behavior is
consistent with the case where params.key is set and ecc_is_key_valid
fails.

 Kernel panic - not syncing: hung_task: blocked tasks

For padata_do_parallel, when the return err is 0 or -EBUSY, it will call
wait_for_completion(&wait->completion) in test_aead_vec_cfg. In normal
case, aead_request_complete() will be called in pcrypt_aead_serial and the
return err is 0 for padata_do_parallel. But, when pinst->flags is
PADATA_RESET, the return err is -EBUSY for padata_do_parallel, and it
won't call aead_request_complete(). Therefore, test_aead_vec_cfg will
hung at wait_for_completion(&wait->completion), which will cause
hungtask.

The problem comes as following:
(padata_do_parallel)                 |
    rcu_read_lock_bh();              |
    err = -EINVAL;                   |   (padata_replace)
                                     |     pinst->flags |= PADATA_RESET;
    err = -EBUSY                     |
    if (pinst->flags & PADATA_RESET) |
        rcu_read_unlock_bh()         |
        return err

In order to resolve the problem, we replace the return err -EBUSY with
-EAGAIN, which means parallel_data is changing, and the caller should call
it again.

v3:
remove retry and just change the return err.
v2:
introduce padata_try_do_parallel() in pcrypt_aead_encrypt and
pcrypt_aead_decrypt to solve the hungtask.

which is not contiguous, and thus not suitable for sg_set_buf() which needs
adjacent pages.

Always make a copy of the signature and digest in the same buffer used to
store the key and its parameters, and pass them to sg_init_one(). Prefer it
to conditionally doing the copy if necessary, to keep the code simple. The

f716374c4e crypto: engine - fix crypto_queue backlog handling
[ Upstream commit 4140aafcff ]

CRYPTO_TFM_REQ_MAY_BACKLOG tells the crypto driver that it should
internally backlog requests until the crypto hw's queue becomes
full. At that point, crypto_engine backlogs the request and returns
-EBUSY. Calling driver such as dm-crypt then waits until the
complete() function is called with a status of -EINPROGRESS before
sending a new request.

The problem lies in the call to complete() with a value of -EINPROGRESS
that is made when a backlog item is present on the queue. The call is
done before the successful execution of the crypto request. In the case
that do_one_request() returns < 0 and the retry support is available,
the request is put back in the queue. This leads upper drivers to send
a new request even if the queue is still full.

The problem can be reproduced by doing a large dd into a crypto
dm-crypt device. This is pretty easy to see when using
Freescale CAAM crypto driver and SWIOTLB dma. Since the actual amount
of requests that can be hold in the queue is unlimited we get IOs error
and dma allocation.

The fix is to call complete with a value of -EINPROGRESS only if
the request is not enqueued back in crypto_queue. This is done
by calling complete() later in the code. In order to delay the decision,
crypto_queue is modified to correctly set the backlog pointer
when a request is enqueued back.
