52822094ad printk: help pr_debug and pr_devel to optimize out arguments
commit fe22cd9b7c upstream.

Currently, pr_debug and pr_devel will not elide function call arguments
appearing in calls to the no_printk for these macros. This is because
all side effects must be honored before proceeding to the 0-value
assignment in no_printk.

The behavior is contrary to documentation found in the CodingStyle and
the header file where these functions are declared.

This patch corrects that behavior by shunting out the call to no_printk
completely. The format string is still checked by gcc for correctness,
but no code seems to be emitted in common cases.

f1b1b60303 mtd: nand: remove unused and buggy get_platform_nandchip() helper function
commit 8142b47ef3 upstream.

Nobody uses the get_platform_nandchip() helper function which is supposed
to return a pointer to a platform_nand_chip struct from an mtd_info
pointer.
Moreover, this function is buggy since the introduction of the plat_nand
layer (chip->priv is now storing a pointer to an intermediate
plat_nand_data structure allocated in plat_nand_probe(), and we have no
way to retrieve a pointer to the provided platform_nand_chip struct from
this plat_nand_data pointer).

While we are at it, remove the useless (and buggy, since it's pointing to
something stored on the stack) data->chip.priv assignment.

529382a7cc crypto: af_alg - Disallow bind/setkey/... after accept(2)
commit c840ac6af3 upstream.

Each af_alg parent socket obtained by socket(2) corresponds to a
tfm object once bind(2) has succeeded. An accept(2) call on that
parent socket creates a context which then uses the tfm object.

Therefore as long as any child sockets created by accept(2) exist
the parent socket must not be modified or freed.

This patch guarantees this by using locks and a reference count
on the parent socket. Any attempt to modify the parent socket will
fail with EBUSY.

8ce02f7b40 printk: do cond_resched() between lines while outputting to consoles
commit 8d91f8b153 upstream.

@console_may_schedule tracks whether console_sem was acquired through
lock or trylock. If the former, we're inside a sleepable context and
console_conditional_schedule() performs cond_resched().  This allows
console drivers which use console_lock for synchronization to yield
while performing time-consuming operations such as scrolling.

However, the actual console outputting is performed while holding
irq-safe logbuf_lock, so console_unlock() clears @console_may_schedule
before starting outputting lines. Also, only a few drivers call
console_conditional_schedule() to begin with. This means that when a
lot of lines need to be output by console_unlock(), for example on a
console registration, the task doing console_unlock() may not yield for
a long time on a non-preemptible kernel.

If this happens with a slow console devices, for example a serial
console, the outputting task may occupy the cpu for a very long time.
Long enough to trigger softlockup and/or RCU stall warnings, which in
turn pile more messages, sometimes enough to trigger the next cycle of
warnings incapacitating the system.

Fix it by making console_unlock() insert cond_resched() between lines if
@console_may_schedule.

5fdf9ad9e9 sctp: start t5 timer only when peer rwnd is 0 and local state is SHUTDOWN_PENDING
commit 8a0d19c5ed upstream.

when A sends a data to B, then A close() and enter into SHUTDOWN_PENDING
state, if B neither claim his rwnd is 0 nor send SACK for this data, A
will keep retransmitting this data until t5 timeout, Max.Retrans times
can't work anymore, which is bad.

if B's rwnd is not 0, it should send abort after Max.Retrans times, only
when B's rwnd == 0 and A's retransmitting beyonds Max.Retrans times, A
will start t5 timer, which is also commit f8d9605243 ("sctp: Enforce
retransmission limit during shutdown") means, but it lacks the condition
peer rwnd == 0.

so fix it by adding a bit (zero_window_announced) in peer to record if
the last rwnd is 0. If it was, zero_window_announced will be set. and use
this bit to decide if start t5 timer when local.state is SHUTDOWN_PENDING.

17a02e0efc vxlan: fix test which detect duplicate vxlan iface
commit 07b9b37c22 upstream.

When a vxlan interface is created, the driver checks that there is not
another vxlan interface with the same properties. To do this, it checks
the existing vxlan udp socket. Since commit 1c51a9159d, the creation of
the vxlan socket is done only when the interface is set up, thus it breaks
that test.

Example:
$ ip l a vxlan10 type vxlan id 10 group 239.0.0.10 dev eth0 dstport 0
$ ip l a vxlan11 type vxlan id 10 group 239.0.0.10 dev eth0 dstport 0
$ ip -br l | grep vxlan
vxlan10          DOWN           f2:55:1c:6a:fb:00 <BROADCAST,MULTICAST>
vxlan11          DOWN           7a:cb:b9:38:59:0d <BROADCAST,MULTICAST>

Instead of checking sockets, let's loop over the vxlan iface list.

660f0e9358 unix: properly account for FDs passed over unix sockets

It is possible for a process to allocate and accumulate far more FDs than

4388d98324 ASoC: Use nested lock for snd_soc_dapm_mutex_lock
commit 783513eec3 upstream.

snd_soc_dapm_mutex_lock currently uses the un-nested call which can
cause lockdep warnings when called from control handlers (a relatively
common usage) and using modules. As creating the control causes a
potential mutex inversion with the handler, creating the control will
take the controls_rwsem under the dapm_mutex and accessing the control
will take the dapm_mutex under controls_rwsem.

All the users look like they want to be using the runtime class of the
lock anyway, so this patch just changes snd_soc_dapm_mutex_lock to use
the nested call, with the SND_SOC_DAPM_CLASS_RUNTIME class.

fdc08799e6 ftrace/module: Call clean up function when module init fails early
commit 049fb9bd41 upstream.

If the module init code fails after calling ftrace_module_init() and before
calling do_init_module(), we can suffer from a memory leak. This is because
ftrace_module_init() allocates pages to store the locations that ftrace
hooks are placed in the module text. If do_init_module() fails, it still
calls the MODULE_GOING notifiers which will tell ftrace to do a clean up of
the pages it allocated for the module. But if load_module() fails before
then, the pages allocated by ftrace_module_init() will never be freed.

Call ftrace_release_mod() on the module if load_module() fails before
getting to do_init_module().

f75855ceef xen: Add RING_COPY_REQUEST()
commit 454d5d882c upstream.

Using RING_GET_REQUEST() on a shared ring is easy to use incorrectly
(i.e., by not considering that the other end may alter the data in the

generally requires taking a local copy.

Provide a RING_COPY_REQUEST() macro to use instead of
RING_GET_REQUEST() and an open-coded memcpy(). This takes care of
ensuring that the copy is done correctly regardless of any possible
compiler optimizations.

c289dc9fea net: add validation for the socket syscall protocol argument
commit 79462ad02e upstream.

郭永刚 reported that one could simply crash the kernel as root by
using a simple program:

	int socket_fd;
	struct sockaddr_in addr;
	addr.sin_port = 0;
	addr.sin_addr.s_addr = INADDR_ANY;
	addr.sin_family = 10;

	socket_fd = socket(10,3,0x40000000);
	connect(socket_fd , &addr,16);

AF_INET, AF_INET6 sockets actually only support 8-bit protocol
identifiers. inet_sock's skc_protocol field thus is sized accordingly,
thus larger protocol identifiers simply cut off the higher bits and
store a zero in the protocol fields.

This could lead to e.g. NULL function pointer because as a result of
the cut off inet_num is zero and we call down to inet_autobind, which
is NULL for raw sockets.

When SCTP accepts an association or peel one off, it copies sock flags
but forgot to call net_enable_timestamp() if a packet timestamping flag
was copied, leading to extra calls to net_disable_timestamp() whenever
such clones were closed.

The fix is to call net_enable_timestamp() whenever we copy a sock with
that flag on, like tcp does.

2f3897ea94 target: Fix race for SCF_COMPARE_AND_WRITE_POST checking
commit 057085e522 upstream.

This patch addresses a race + use after free where the first
stage of COMPARE_AND_WRITE in compare_and_write_callback()
is rescheduled after the backend sends the secondary WRITE,
resulting in second stage compare_and_write_post() callback
completing in target_complete_ok_work() before the first
can return.

Because current code depends on checking se_cmd->se_cmd_flags
after return from se_cmd->transport_complete_callback(),
this results in first stage having SCF_COMPARE_AND_WRITE_POST
set, which incorrectly falls through into second stage CAW
processing code, eventually triggering a NULL pointer
dereference due to use after free.

To address this bug, pass in a new *post_ret parameter into
se_cmd->transport_complete_callback(), and depend upon this
value instead of ->se_cmd_flags to determine when to return
or fall through into ->queue_status() code for CAW.

93d2f2509b ipv6: add complete rcu protection around np->opt
commit 45f6fad84c upstream.

This patch addresses multiple problems :

UDP/RAW sendmsg() need to get a stable struct ipv6_txoptions
while socket is not locked : Other threads can change np->opt
concurrently. Dmitry posted a syzkaller
(http://github.com/google/syzkaller) program desmonstrating
use-after-free.

Starting with TCP/DCCP lockless listeners, tcp_v6_syn_recv_sock()
and dccp_v6_request_recv_sock() also need to use RCU protection
to dereference np->opt once (before calling ipv6_dup_options())

This patch adds full RCU protection to np->opt

6aba289f4f ipv6: distinguish frag queues by device for multicast and link-local packets
commit 264640fc2c upstream.

If a fragmented multicast packet is received on an ethernet device which
has an active macvlan on top of it, each fragment is duplicated and
received both on the underlying device and the macvlan. If some
fragments for macvlan are processed before the whole packet for the
underlying device is reassembled, the "overlapping fragments" test in
ip6_frag_queue() discards the whole fragment queue.

To resolve this, add device ifindex to the search key and require it to
match reassembling multicast packets and packets to link-local
addresses.

8625b2f81f ip_tunnel: disable preemption when updating per-cpu tstats
commit b4fe85f9c9 upstream.

Drivers like vxlan use the recently introduced
udp_tunnel_xmit_skb/udp_tunnel6_xmit_skb APIs. udp_tunnel6_xmit_skb
makes use of ip6tunnel_xmit, and ip6tunnel_xmit, after sending the
packet, updates the struct stats using the usual
u64_stats_update_begin/end calls on this_cpu_ptr(dev->tstats).
udp_tunnel_xmit_skb makes use of iptunnel_xmit, which doesn't touch
tstats, so drivers like vxlan, immediately after, call
iptunnel_xmit_stats, which does the same thing - calls
u64_stats_update_begin/end on this_cpu_ptr(dev->tstats).

While vxlan is probably fine (I don't know?), calling a similar function
from, say, an unbound workqueue, on a fully preemptable kernel causes
real issues:

[  188.434537] BUG: using smp_processor_id() in preemptible [00000000] code: kworker/u8:0/6

6e238517b4 unix: avoid use-after-free in ep_remove_wait_queue
commit 7d267278a9 upstream.

Rainer Weikusat <rweikusat@mobileactivedefense.com> writes:
An AF_UNIX datagram socket being the client in an n:1 association with
some server socket is only allowed to send messages to the server if the
receive queue of this socket contains at most sk_max_ack_backlog
datagrams. This implies that prospective writers might be forced to go
to sleep despite none of the message presently enqueued on the server
receive queue were sent by them. In order to ensure that these will be
woken up once space becomes again available, the present unix_dgram_poll
routine does a second sock_poll_wait call with the peer_wait wait queue
of the server socket as queue argument (unix_dgram_recvmsg does a wake
up on this queue after a datagram was received). This is inherently
problematic because the server socket is only guaranteed to remain alive
for as long as the client still holds a reference to it. In case the
connection is dissolved via connect or by the dead peer detection logic
in unix_dgram_sendmsg, the server socket may be freed despite "the
polling mechanism" (in particular, epoll) still has a pointer to the
corresponding peer_wait queue. There's no way to forcibly deregister a
wait queue with epoll.

Based on an idea by Jason Baron, the patch below changes the code such
that a wait_queue_t belonging to the client socket is enqueued on the
peer_wait queue of the server whenever the peer receive queue full
condition is detected by either a sendmsg or a poll. A wake up on the
peer queue is then relayed to the ordinary wait queue of the client
socket via wake function. The connection to the peer wait queue is again
dissolved if either a wake up is about to be relayed or the client
socket reconnects or a dead peer is detected or the client socket is
itself closed. This enables removing the second sock_poll_wait from
unix_dgram_poll, thus avoiding the use-after-free, while still ensuring
that no blocked writer sleeps forever.

df313e1581 kernel/signal.c: unexport sigsuspend()
commit 9d8a765211 upstream.

sigsuspend() is nowhere used except in signal.c itself, so we can mark it
static do not pollute the global namespace.

But this patch is more than a boring cleanup patch, it fixes a real issue
on UserModeLinux. UML has a special console driver to display ttys using
xterm, or other terminal emulators, on the host side. Vegard reported
that sometimes UML is unable to spawn a xterm and he's facing the
following warning:

  WARNING: CPU: 0 PID: 908 at include/linux/thread_info.h:128 sigsuspend+0xab/0xc0()

It turned out that this warning makes absolutely no sense as the UML
xterm code calls sigsuspend() on the host side, at least it tries. But
as the kernel itself offers a sigsuspend() symbol the linker choose this
one instead of the glibc wrapper. Interestingly this code used to work
since ever but always blocked signals on the wrong side. Some recent
kernel change made the WARN_ON() trigger and uncovered the bug.

It is a wonderful example of how much works by chance on computers. :-)

abf7bef5d7 ext4, jbd2: ensure entering into panic after recording an error in superblock

If a EXT4 filesystem utilizes JBD2 journaling and an error occurs, the

ec3b09d036 lockd: create NSM handles per net namespace
commit 0ad95472bf upstream.

Commit cb7323fffa ("lockd: create and use per-net NSM
 RPC clients on MON/UNMON requests") introduced per-net
NSM RPC clients. Unfortunately this doesn't make any sense
without per-net nsm_handle.

E.g. the following scenario could happen
Two hosts (X and Y) in different namespaces (A and B) share
the same nsm struct.

1. nsm_monitor(host_X) called => NSM rpc client created,
	nsm->sm_monitored bit set.
2. nsm_mointor(host-Y) called => nsm->sm_monitored already set,
	we just exit. Thus in namespace B ln->nsm_clnt == NULL.
3. host X destroyed => nsm->sm_count decremented to 1
4. host Y destroyed => nsm_unmonitor() => nsm_mon_unmon() => NULL-ptr
	dereference of *ln->nsm_clnt

So this could be fixed by making per-net nsm_handles list,
instead of global. Thus different net namespaces will not be able
share the same nsm_handle.

346f34d8ed ASoC: Add info callback for SX_TLV controls
commit 34198710f5 upstream.

SX_TLV controls are intended for situations where the register behind

and then gains increasing from there and eventually overflowing through
zero.

Currently every CODEC implementing these controls specifies the minimum
as the non-zero value for the minimum and the maximum as the number of
gain settings available.

This means when the info callback subtracts the minimum value from the
maximum value to calculate the number of gain levels available it is
actually under reporting the available levels. This patch fixes this
issue by adding a new snd_soc_info_volsw_sx callback that does not
subtract the minimum value.

8f03e4d1c4 x86/xen: Support kexec/kdump in HVM guests by doing a soft reset
commit 0b34a166f2 upstream.

Currently there is a number of issues preventing PVHVM Xen guests from
doing successful kexec/kdump:

  - Bound event channels.
  - Registered vcpu_info.
  - PIRQ/emuirq mappings.
  - shared_info frame after XENMAPSPACE_shared_info operation.
  - Active grant mappings.

Basically, newly booted kernel stumbles upon already set up Xen
interfaces and there is no way to reestablish them. In Xen-4.7 a new
feature called 'soft reset' is coming. A guest performing kexec/kdump
operation is supposed to call SCHEDOP_shutdown hypercall with
SHUTDOWN_soft_reset reason before jumping to new kernel. Hypervisor
(with some help from toolstack) will do full domain cleanup (but
keeping its memory and vCPU contexts intact) returning the guest to
the state it had when it was first booted and thus allowing it to
start over.

Doing SHUTDOWN_soft_reset on Xen hypervisors which don't support it is
probably OK as by default all unknown shutdown reasons cause domain
destroy with a message in toolstack log: 'Unknown shutdown reason code
5. Destroying domain.' which gives a clue to what the problem is and
eliminates false expectations.

commit f8786a9154 upstream.

Incoming packets in high speed are randomly corrupted by h/w
resulting in multiple errors. This workaround makes FS as
default mode in all affected socs by disabling HS chirp
signalling.This errata does not affect FS and LS mode.

Forces all HS devices to connect in FS mode for all socs
affected by this erratum:
P3041 and P2041 rev 1.0 and 1.1
P5020 and P5010 rev 1.0 and 2.0
P5040, P1010 and T4240 rev 1.0
