When user tried to read some fields like hysteresis from IIO sysfs on some
systems, it fails. The reason is that this field is a byte field and caller
of sensor_hub_get_feature() passes a buffer of 4 bytes. Here the function
sensor_hub_get_feature() copies the single byte from the report to the
caller buffer and returns "1" as the number of bytes copied. So caller
can use the return value.
But this is done by multiple callers, so if we just change the
sensor_hub_get_feature so that caller buffer is initialized with 0s
then we don't to change all functions.

The rb_event_data() is the fast path of getting the ring buffer data from an
event. Externally, ring_buffer_event_data() is used to access this function.
But unfortunately, rb_event_data() is not inlined, and calling
ring_buffer_event_data() causes that function to be called again. Force
rb_event_data() to be inlined to lower the number of operations needed when
calling ring_buffer_event_data().

The function rb_reserved_next_event() is called by two functions:
ring_buffer_lock_reserve() and ring_buffer_write(). This is in a very hot
path of the tracing code, and it is best that they are not functions. The
two callers are basically wrapers for rb_reserver_next_event(). Removing the
function calls can save execution time in the hotpath of tracing.

As Andi Kleen pointed out in the Link below, the trace events has quite a
bit of code execution. A lot of that happens to be calling functions, where
some of them should simply be inlined. One of these functions happens to be
trace_buffer_lock_reserve() which is also a global, but it is used
throughout the file it is defined in. Create a __trace_buffer_lock_reserve()
that is always inlined that the file can benefit from.

When building with "make W=1", we get multiple harmless build warnings
for the vpfe driver:
drivers/staging/media/davinci_vpfe/dm365_resizer.c:241:1: error: 'static' is not at beginning of declaration [-Werror=old-style-declaration]
drivers/staging/media/davinci_vpfe/dm365_resizer.c: In function 'resizer_set_defualt_configuration':

drivers/staging/media/davinci_vpfe/dm365_resizer.c:849:16: note: (near initialization for 'rsz_default_config.rsz_rsc_param[1].h_typ_c')
All of them are trivial to fix without changing the behavior of the
driver, as "static const" is interpreted the same as "const static",
and VPFE_RSZ_INTP_CUBIC is defined as zero, so the initializations
are not really needed.

It took a long time to catch this bug with randconfig builds
because at least 14 other Kconfig symbols have to be enabled in
order to configure this one, and it was clearly only ever tested
as built-in with mainline kernels, if at all.
The solution is really easy: this patch changes the Makefile to
link all files into one module. As discussed previously, the
driver has never before used successfully as a loadable module,
but there is no reason to prevent that configuration.

Following the Amlogic Linux kernel, it seem the only differences
between the GXL and GXM SoCs are the CPU Clusters.
This commit renames the gxl-s905d-p23x DTSI in a common file for
S905D p23x and S912 q20x boards.
Then adds a meson-gxm dtsi and reproduce the P23x to Q20x boards

and the P23x and Q20x boards are identical.

Intel Xeons from Ivy Bridge onwards support a processor identification
number set in the factory. To the user this is a handy unique number to
identify a particular CPU. Intel can decode this to the fab/production
run to track errors. On systems that have it, include it in the machine
check record. I'm told that this would be helpful for users that run
large data centers with multi-socket servers to keep track of which CPUs
are seeing errors.
