27fe713c62 netpoll: Ensure clean state on setup failures
[ Upstream commit ae5a0456e0 ]

Modify netpoll_setup() and __netpoll_setup() to ensure that the netpoll
structure (np) is left in a clean state if setup fails for any reason.
This prevents carrying over misconfigured fields in case of partial
setup success.

Key changes:
- np->dev is now set only after successful setup, ensuring it's always
  NULL if netpoll is not configured or if netpoll_setup() fails.
- np->local_ip is zeroed if netpoll setup doesn't complete successfully.
- Added DEBUG_NET_WARN_ON_ONCE() checks to catch unexpected states.
- Reordered some operations in __netpoll_setup() for better logical flow.

These changes improve the reliability of netpoll configuration, since it
assures that the structure is fully initialized or totally unset.

9b0ee571d2 net: add more sanity checks to qdisc_pkt_len_init()
[ Upstream commit ab9a9a9e96 ]

One path takes care of SKB_GSO_DODGY, assuming
skb->len is bigger than hdr_len.

virtio_net_hdr_to_skb() does not fully dissect TCP headers,
it only make sure it is at least 20 bytes.

It is possible for an user to provide a malicious 'GSO' packet,
total length of 80 bytes.

- 20 bytes of IPv4 header
- 60 bytes TCP header
- a small gso_size like 8

virtio_net_hdr_to_skb() would declare this packet as a normal
GSO packet, because it would see 40 bytes of payload,
bigger than gso_size.

We need to make detect this case to not underflow
qdisc_skb_cb(skb)->pkt_len.

25ab0b87db net: avoid potential underflow in qdisc_pkt_len_init() with UFO
[ Upstream commit c20029db28 ]

After commit 7c6d2ecbda ("net: be more gentle about silly gso
requests coming from user") virtio_net_hdr_to_skb() had sanity check
to detect malicious attempts from user space to cook a bad GSO packet.

Then commit cf9acc90c8 ("net: virtio_net_hdr_to_skb: count
transport header in UFO") while fixing one issue, allowed user space
to cook a GSO packet with the following characteristic :

IPv4 SKB_GSO_UDP, gso_size=3, skb->len = 28.

When this packet arrives in qdisc_pkt_len_init(), we end up
with hdr_len = 28 (IPv4 header + UDP header), matching skb->len

Then the following sets gso_segs to 0 :

gso_segs = DIV_ROUND_UP(skb->len - hdr_len,
                        shinfo->gso_size);

Then later we set qdisc_skb_cb(skb)->pkt_len to back to zero :/

qdisc_skb_cb(skb)->pkt_len += (gso_segs - 1) * hdr_len;

This leads to the following crash in fq_codel [1]

qdisc_pkt_len_init() is best effort, we only want an estimation
of the bytes sent on the wire, not crashing the kernel.

This patch is fixing this particular issue, a following one
adds more sanity checks for another potential bug.

718b663403 net: Fix gso_features_check to check for both dev->gso_{ipv4_,}max_size
[ Upstream commit e609c959a9 ]

Commit 24ab059d2e ("net: check dev->gso_max_size in gso_features_check()")
added a dev->gso_max_size test to gso_features_check() in order to fall
back to GSO when needed.

This was added as it was noticed that some drivers could misbehave if TSO
packets get too big. However, the check doesn't respect dev->gso_ipv4_max_size
limit. For instance, a device could be configured with BIG TCP for IPv4,
but not IPv6.

Therefore, add a netif_get_gso_max_size() equivalent to netif_get_gro_max_size()
and use the helper to respect both limits before falling back to GSO engine.

a634fa8e48 bpf: Zero former ARG_PTR_TO_{LONG,INT} args in case of error
[ Upstream commit 4b3786a6c5 ]

For all non-tracing helpers which formerly had ARG_PTR_TO_{LONG,INT} as input
arguments, zero the value for the case of an error as otherwise it could leak
memory. For tracing, it is not needed given CAP_PERFMON can already read all
kernel memory anyway hence bpf_get_func_arg() and bpf_get_func_ret() is skipped
in here.

Also, the MTU helpers mtu_len pointer value is being written but also read.
Technically, the MEM_UNINIT should not be there in order to always force init.
Removing MEM_UNINIT needs more verifier rework though: MEM_UNINIT right now
implies two things actually: i) write into memory, ii) memory does not have
to be initialized. If we lift MEM_UNINIT, it then becomes: i) read into memory,
ii) memory must be initialized. This means that for bpf_*_check_mtu() we're
readding the issue we're trying to fix, that is, it would then be able to
write back into things like .rodata BPF maps. Follow-up work will rework the
MEM_UNINIT semantics such that the intent can be better expressed. For now
just clear the *mtu_len on error path which can be lifted later again.

a2c8dc7e21 bpf: Fix helper writes to read-only maps
[ Upstream commit 32556ce93b ]

Lonial found an issue that despite user- and BPF-side frozen BPF map
(like in case of .rodata), it was still possible to write into it from
a BPF program side through specific helpers having ARG_PTR_TO_{LONG,INT}
as arguments.

In check_func_arg() when the argument is as mentioned, the meta->raw_mode
is never set. Later, check_helper_mem_access(), under the case of
PTR_TO_MAP_VALUE as register base type, it assumes BPF_READ for the
subsequent call to check_map_access_type() and given the BPF map is
read-only it succeeds.

The helpers really need to be annotated as ARG_PTR_TO_{LONG,INT} | MEM_UNINIT
when results are written into them as opposed to read out of them. The
latter indicates that it's okay to pass a pointer to uninitialized memory
as the memory is written to anyway.

However, ARG_PTR_TO_{LONG,INT} is a special case of ARG_PTR_TO_FIXED_SIZE_MEM
just with additional alignment requirement. So it is better to just get
rid of the ARG_PTR_TO_{LONG,INT} special cases altogether and reuse the
fixed size memory types. For this, add MEM_ALIGNED to additionally ensure
alignment given these helpers write directly into the args via *<ptr> = val.
The .arg*_size has been initialized reflecting the actual sizeof(*<ptr>).

MEM_ALIGNED can only be used in combination with MEM_FIXED_SIZE annotated
argument types, since in !MEM_FIXED_SIZE cases the verifier does not know
the buffer size a priori and therefore cannot blindly write *<ptr> = val.

 crash> struct net_device.state ffff9a9d21336000
    state = 5,

state 5 is __LINK_STATE_START (0b1) and __LINK_STATE_NOCARRIER (0b100).
The device is not present, note lack of __LINK_STATE_PRESENT (0b10).

This is the same sort of panic as observed in commit 4224cfd7fb
("net-sysfs: add check for netdevice being present to speed_show").

There are many other callers of __ethtool_get_link_ksettings() which
don't have a device presence check.

Move this check into ethtool to protect all callers.

using DEBUG_NET_WARN_ON_ONCE instead to silence the following splat
given __skb_get_hash() is used by the nftables tracing infrastructure to
to identify packets in traces.

bf0ce5aa5f xdp: fix invalid wait context of page_pool_destroy()
[ Upstream commit 59a931c5b7 ]

If the driver uses a page pool, it creates a page pool with
page_pool_create().
The reference count of page pool is 1 as default.
A page pool will be destroyed only when a reference count reaches 0.
page_pool_destroy() is used to destroy page pool, it decreases a
reference count.
When a page pool is destroyed, ->disconnect() is called, which is
mem_allocator_disconnect().
This function internally acquires mutex_lock().

If the driver uses XDP, it registers a memory model with
xdp_rxq_info_reg_mem_model().
The xdp_rxq_info_reg_mem_model() internally increases a page pool
reference count if a memory model is a page pool.
Now the reference count is 2.

To destroy a page pool, the driver should call both page_pool_destroy()
and xdp_unreg_mem_model().
The xdp_unreg_mem_model() internally calls page_pool_destroy().
Only page_pool_destroy() decreases a reference count.

If a driver calls page_pool_destroy() then xdp_unreg_mem_model(), we
will face an invalid wait context warning.
Because xdp_unreg_mem_model() calls page_pool_destroy() with
rcu_read_lock().
The page_pool_destroy() internally acquires mutex_lock().

To fix this problem, it uses rhashtable_lookup_fast() instead of
rhashtable_lookup() with rcu_read_lock().
Using xa without rcu_read_lock() here is safe.
xa is freed by __xdp_mem_allocator_rcu_free() and this is called by
call_rcu() of mem_xa_remove().
The mem_xa_remove() is called by page_pool_destroy() if a reference
count reaches 0.
The xa is already protected by the reference count mechanism well in the
control plane.
So removing rcu_read_lock() for page_pool_destroy() is safe.

This crash happens every time when running sockmap_skb_verdict_shutdown
subtest in sockmap_basic.

This crash is because a NULL pointer is passed to page_address() in the
sk_msg_recvmsg(). Due to the different implementations depending on the
architecture, page_address(NULL) will trigger a panic on Loongarch
platform but not on x86 platform. So this bug was hidden on x86 platform
for a while, but now it is exposed on Loongarch platform. The root cause
is that a zero length skb (skb->len == 0) was put on the queue.

This zero length skb is a TCP FIN packet, which was sent by shutdown(),
invoked in test_sockmap_skb_verdict_shutdown():

	shutdown(p1, SHUT_WR);

In this case, in sk_psock_skb_ingress_enqueue(), num_sge is zero, and no
page is put to this sge (see sg_set_page in sg_set_page), but this empty
sge is queued into ingress_msg list.

And in sk_msg_recvmsg(), this empty sge is used, and a NULL page is got by
sg_page(sge). Pass this NULL page to copy_page_to_iter(), which passes it
to kmap_local_page() and to page_address(), then kernel panics.

To solve this, we should skip this zero length skb. So in sk_msg_recvmsg(),
if copy is zero, that means it's a zero length skb, skip invoking
copy_page_to_iter(). We are using the EFAULT return triggered by
copy_page_to_iter to check for is_fin in tcp_bpf.c.

702b17f72d net: allow skb_datagram_iter to be called from any context
[ Upstream commit d2d30a376d ]

We only use the mapping in a single context, so kmap_local is sufficient
and cheaper. Make sure to use skb_frag_foreach_page as skb frags may
contain compound pages and we need to map page by page.

14e51ea78b xdp: Remove WARN() from __xdp_reg_mem_model()
[ Upstream commit 7e9f794283 ]

syzkaller reports a warning in __xdp_reg_mem_model().

The warning occurs only if __mem_id_init_hash_table() returns an error. It
returns the error in two cases:

  1. memory allocation fails;
  2. rhashtable_init() fails when some fields of rhashtable_params
     struct are not initialized properly.

The second case cannot happen since there is a static const rhashtable_params
struct with valid fields. So, warning is only triggered when there is a
problem with memory allocation.

Thus, there is no sense in using WARN() to handle this error and it can be
safely removed.

454c454ed6 net: do not leave a dangling sk pointer, when socket creation fails
commit 6cd4a78d96 upstream.

It is possible to trigger a use-after-free by:

7f9644782c bpf: Avoid splat in pskb_pull_reason
[ Upstream commit 2bbe3e5a2f ]

syzkaller builds (CONFIG_DEBUG_NET=y) frequently trigger a debug
hint in pskb_may_pull.

We'd like to retain this debug check because it might hint at integer
overflows and other issues (kernel code should pull headers, not huge
value).

In bpf case, this splat isn't interesting at all: such (nonsensical)
bpf programs are typically generated by a fuzzer anyway.

Do what Eric suggested and suppress such warning.

For CONFIG_DEBUG_NET=n we don't need the extra check because
pskb_may_pull will do the right thing: return an error without the
WARN() backtrace.

3f1a155950 netpoll: Fix race condition in netpoll_owner_active

	value changed: 0x0000000a -> 0xffffffff

This happens because netpoll_owner_active() needs to check if the
current CPU is the owner of the lock, touching napi->poll_owner
non atomically. The ->poll_owner field contains the current CPU holding
the lock.

Use an atomic read to check if the poll owner is the current CPU.

e946428439 sock_map: avoid race between sock_map_close and sk_psock_put
commit 4b4647add7 upstream.

sk_psock_get will return NULL if the refcount of psock has gone to 0, which
will happen when the last call of sk_psock_put is done. However,
sk_psock_drop may not have finished yet, so the close callback will still
point to sock_map_close despite psock being NULL.

This can be reproduced with a thread deleting an element from the sock map,
while the second one creates a socket, adds it to the map and closes it.

That will trigger the WARN_ON_ONCE:

Use sk_psock, which will only check that the pointer is not been set to
NULL yet, which should only happen after the callbacks are restored. If,
then, a reference can still be gotten, we may call sk_psock_stop and cancel
psock->work.

As suggested by Paolo Abeni, reorder the condition so the control flow is
less convoluted.

After that change, the reproducer does not trigger the WARN_ON_ONCE
anymore.

7a44f4944b net: give more chances to rcu in netdev_wait_allrefs_any()
[ Upstream commit cd42ba1c8a ]

This came while reviewing commit c4e86b4363 ("net: add two more
call_rcu_hurry()").

Paolo asked if adding one synchronize_rcu() would help.

While synchronize_rcu() does not help, making sure to call
rcu_barrier() before msleep(wait) is definitely helping
to make sure lazy call_rcu() are completed.

Instead of waiting ~100 seconds in my tests, the ref_tracker
splats occurs one time only, and netdev_wait_allrefs_any()
latency is reduced to the strict minimum.

Ideally we should audit our call_rcu() users to make sure
no refcount (or cascading call_rcu()) is held too long,
because rcu_barrier() is quite expensive.

b6dbfd5bcc net: fix out-of-bounds access in ops_init
commit a26ff37e62 upstream.

net_alloc_generic is called by net_alloc, which is called without any
locking. It reads max_gen_ptrs, which is changed under pernet_ops_rwsem. It
is read twice, first to allocate an array, then to set s.len, which is
later used to limit the bounds of the array access.

It is possible that the array is allocated and another thread is
registering a new pernet ops, increments max_gen_ptrs, which is then used
to set s.len with a larger than allocated length for the variable array.

Fix it by reading max_gen_ptrs only once in net_alloc_generic. If
max_gen_ptrs is later incremented, it will be caught in net_assign_generic.

206003c748 rtnetlink: Correct nested IFLA_VF_VLAN_LIST attribute validation

Each attribute inside a nested IFLA_VF_VLAN_LIST is assumed to be a

of sizeof(struct ifla_vf_vlan_info) which is 14 bytes.
The current size validation in do_setvfinfo is against NLA_HDRLEN (4 bytes)
which is less than sizeof(struct ifla_vf_vlan_info) so this validation
is not enough and a too small attribute might be cast to a
struct ifla_vf_vlan_info, this might result in an out of bands
read access when accessing the saved (casted) entry in ivvl.

af276a5ac8 net: gro: fix udp bad offset in socket lookup by adding {inner_}network_offset to napi_gro_cb
[ Upstream commit 5ef31ea5d0 ]

Commits a602456 ("udp: Add GRO functions to UDP socket") and 57c67ff ("udp:
additional GRO support") introduce incorrect usage of {ip,ipv6}_hdr in the
complete phase of gro. The functions always return skb->network_header,
which in the case of encapsulated packets at the gro complete phase, is
always set to the innermost L3 of the packet. That means that calling
{ip,ipv6}_hdr for skbs which completed the GRO receive phase (both in
gro_list and *_gro_complete) when parsing an encapsulated packet's _outer_
L3/L4 may return an unexpected value.

This incorrect usage leads to a bug in GRO's UDP socket lookup.
udp{4,6}_lib_lookup_skb functions use ip_hdr/ipv6_hdr respectively. These
*_hdr functions return network_header which will point to the innermost L3,
resulting in the wrong offset being used in __udp{4,6}_lib_lookup with
encapsulated packets.

This patch adds network_offset and inner_network_offset to napi_gro_cb, and
makes sure both are set correctly.

To fix the issue, network_offsets union is used inside napi_gro_cb, in
which both the outer and the inner network offsets are saved.

e22e25820f xdp: use flags field to disambiguate broadcast redirect
[ Upstream commit 5bcf0dcbf9 ]

When redirecting a packet using XDP, the bpf_redirect_map() helper will set
up the redirect destination information in struct bpf_redirect_info (using
the __bpf_xdp_redirect_map() helper function), and the xdp_do_redirect()
function will read this information after the XDP program returns and pass
the frame on to the right redirect destination.

When using the BPF_F_BROADCAST flag to do multicast redirect to a whole
map, __bpf_xdp_redirect_map() sets the 'map' pointer in struct
bpf_redirect_info to point to the destination map to be broadcast. And
xdp_do_redirect() reacts to the value of this map pointer to decide whether
it's dealing with a broadcast or a single-value redirect. However, if the
destination map is being destroyed before xdp_do_redirect() is called, the
map pointer will be cleared out (by bpf_clear_redirect_map()) without
waiting for any XDP programs to stop running. This causes xdp_do_redirect()
to think that the redirect was to a single target, but the target pointer
is also NULL (since broadcast redirects don't have a single target), so
this causes a crash when a NULL pointer is passed to dev_map_enqueue().

To fix this, change xdp_do_redirect() to react directly to the presence of
the BPF_F_BROADCAST flag in the 'flags' value in struct bpf_redirect_info
to disambiguate between a single-target and a broadcast redirect. And only
read the 'map' pointer if the broadcast flag is set, aborting if that has
been cleared out in the meantime. This prevents the crash, while keeping
the atomic (cmpxchg-based) clearing of the map pointer itself, and without
adding any more checks in the non-broadcast fast path.

similarly due to no protection of saved_data_ready. Here is another
different caller causing the same issue because of the same reason. So
we should protect it with sk_callback_lock read lock because the writer
side in the sk_psock_drop() uses "write_lock_bh(&sk->sk_callback_lock);".

To avoid errors that could happen in future, I move those two pairs of

fe1e83811c net: make SK_MEMORY_PCPU_RESERV tunable
[ Upstream commit 12a686c2e7 ]

This patch adds /proc/sys/net/core/mem_pcpu_rsv sysctl file,
to make SK_MEMORY_PCPU_RESERV tunable.

Commit 3cd3399dd7 ("net: implement per-cpu reserves for
memory_allocated") introduced per-cpu forward alloc cache:

"Implement a per-cpu cache of +1/-1 MB, to reduce number
of changes to sk->sk_prot->memory_allocated, which
would otherwise be cause of false sharing."

sk_prot->memory_allocated points to global atomic variable:
atomic_long_t tcp_memory_allocated ____cacheline_aligned_in_smp;

If increasing the per-cpu cache size from 1MB to e.g. 16MB,
changes to sk->sk_prot->memory_allocated can be further reduced.
Performance may be improved on system with many cores.

fc126c1d51 gro: fix ownership transfer
commit ed4cccef64 upstream.

If packets are GROed with fraglist they might be segmented later on and
continue their journey in the stack. In skb_segment_list those skbs can
be reused as-is. This is an issue as their destructor was removed in
skb_gro_receive_list but not the reference to their socket, and then
they can't be orphaned. Fix this by also removing the reference to the
socket.

For example this could be observed,

668b3074aa bpf, sockmap: Prevent lock inversion deadlock in map delete elem
commit ff91059932 upstream.

syzkaller started using corpuses where a BPF tracing program deletes
elements from a sockmap/sockhash map. Because BPF tracing programs can be
invoked from any interrupt context, locks taken during a map_delete_elem
operation must be hardirq-safe. Otherwise a deadlock due to lock inversion
is possible, as reported by lockdep:

       CPU0                    CPU1
       ----                    ----
  lock(&htab->buckets[i].lock);
                               local_irq_disable();
                               lock(&host->lock);
                               lock(&htab->buckets[i].lock);
  <Interrupt>
    lock(&host->lock);

Locks in sockmap are hardirq-unsafe by design. We expects elements to be
deleted from sockmap/sockhash only in task (normal) context with interrupts
enabled, or in softirq context.

Detect when map_delete_elem operation is invoked from a context which is
_not_ hardirq-unsafe, that is interrupts are disabled, and bail out with an
error.

Note that map updates are not affected by this issue. BPF verifier does not
allow updating sockmap/sockhash from a BPF tracing program today.

167d8642da rtnetlink: fix error logic of IFLA_BRIDGE_FLAGS writing back
[ Upstream commit 743ad091fb ]

In the commit d73ef2d69c ("rtnetlink: let rtnl_bridge_setlink checks
IFLA_BRIDGE_MODE length"), an adjustment was made to the old loop logic
in the function `rtnl_bridge_setlink` to enable the loop to also check
the length of the IFLA_BRIDGE_MODE attribute. However, this adjustment
removed the `break` statement and led to an error logic of the flags
writing back at the end of this function.

if (have_flags)
    memcpy(nla_data(attr), &flags, sizeof(flags));
    // attr should point to IFLA_BRIDGE_FLAGS NLA !!!

Before the mentioned commit, the `attr` is granted to be IFLA_BRIDGE_FLAGS.
However, this is not necessarily true fow now as the updated loop will let
the attr point to the last NLA, even an invalid NLA which could cause
overflow writes.

This patch introduces a new variable `br_flag` to save the NLA pointer
that points to IFLA_BRIDGE_FLAGS and uses it to resolve the mentioned
error logic.

b96f500dbb bpf: Derive source IP addr via bpf_*_fib_lookup()
commit dab4e1f06c upstream.

Extend the bpf_fib_lookup() helper by making it to return the source
IPv4/IPv6 address if the BPF_FIB_LOOKUP_SRC flag is set.

For example, the following snippet can be used to derive the desired
source IP address:

    struct bpf_fib_lookup p = { .ipv4_dst = ip4->daddr };

    ret = bpf_skb_fib_lookup(skb, p, sizeof(p),
            BPF_FIB_LOOKUP_SRC | BPF_FIB_LOOKUP_SKIP_NEIGH);
    if (ret != BPF_FIB_LKUP_RET_SUCCESS)
        return TC_ACT_SHOT;

    /* the p.ipv4_src now contains the source address */

The inability to derive the proper source address may cause malfunctions
in BPF-based dataplanes for hosts containing netdevs with more than one
routable IP address or for multi-homed hosts.

For example, Cilium implements packet masquerading in BPF. If an
egressing netdev to which the Cilium's BPF prog is attached has
multiple IP addresses, then only one [hardcoded] IP address can be used for
masquerading. This breaks connectivity if any other IP address should have
been selected instead, for example, when a public and private addresses
are attached to the same egress interface.

The change was tested with Cilium [1].

Nikolay Aleksandrov helped to figure out the IPv6 addr selection.

This comes from __xdp_return() call with xdp_buff argument passed as
NULL which is supposed to be consumed by xsk_buff_free() call.

To address this properly, in ZC case, a node that represents the frag
being removed has to be pulled out of xskb_list. Introduce
appropriate xsk helpers to do such node operation and use them
accordingly within bpf_xdp_adjust_tail().
