regmap: Fix for v6.4
A fix for a long standing issue where when we create a new node in an rbtree register cache we were failing to convert the register address of the new register into a bitmask correctly and marking the wrong register as being present in the newly created node. This would only have affected devices with a register stride other than 1 but would corrupt data on those devices. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- iQEzBAABCgAdFiEEreZoqmdXGLWf4p/qJNaLcl1Uh9AFAmUcVmcACgkQJNaLcl1U h9A4sgf+K/KziZcfrjzZhsuQ02qfNVDwBrYcsJCW8CjomFq1kb7QMwX1NgDkZRRD +RbBuPvj1t/BMzsePJWrY7wDcOQHPijQPeOufcz6ZxASX0LQN3SCQR2GV+JJJSXb XW0RLws6WcpG15XZvV8ddxYgeIeAKOhrECZg8bcHvsdin5rU19H4FydiLDS7ZCvV jN1XYtwtFosaV/Zi28cE5nOJ3xFZeYzzx6SbdpCiQSY4llqiMxVBfffpS3wDQHWb hLHDHeiD/kNqS+sDVDsHEOgHiWMv1JN8P6pNvPMdNqVDAgq5lVlAB3zex1pFCTV9 FRVBTgKLZEafeMqIpMus6WJe0oKCTQ== =LK1Y -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- Merge tag 'regmap-fix-v6.6-rc4' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/broonie/regmap Pull regmap fix from Mark Brown: "A fix for a long standing issue where when we create a new node in an rbtree register cache we were failing to convert the register address of the new register into a bitmask correctly and marking the wrong register as being present in the newly created node. regmap: rbtree: Fix wrong register marked as in-cache when creating new node
When regcache_rbtree_write() creates a new rbtree_node it was passing the
wrong bit number to regcache_rbtree_set_register(). The bit number is the
offset __in number of registers__, but in the case of creating a new block
regcache_rbtree_write() was not dividing by the address stride to get the
number of registers.
Fix this by dividing by map->reg_stride.
Compare with regcache_rbtree_read() where the bit is checked.
This bug meant that the wrong register was marked as present. The register
that was written to the cache could not be read from the cache because it
was not marked as cached. But a nearby register could be marked as having
a cached value even if it was never written to the cache.

This pull request is full of clk driver changes. In fact, there aren't any
changes to the clk framework this time around. That's probably because everyone
was on vacation (yours truly included). We did lose a couple clk drivers this
time around because nobody was using those devices. That skews the diffstat a
bit, but either way, nothing looks out of the ordinary here. The usual suspects
are chugging along adding support for more SoCs and fixing bugs.
If I had to choose, I'd say the theme for the past few months has been
"polish". There's quite a few patches that migrate to
devm_platform_ioremap_resource() in here. And there's more than a handful of
patches that move the NR_CLKS define from the DT binding header to the driver.
There's even patches that migrate drivers to use clk_parent_data and clk_hw to
describe clk tree topology. It seems that the spring (summer?) cleaning bug got
some folks, or the semiconductor shortage finally hit the software side.
New Drivers:
- StarFive JH7110 SoC clock drivers
- Qualcomm IPQ5018 Global Clock Controller driver
- Versa3 clk generator to support 48KHz playback/record with audio codec on
RZ/G2L SMARC EVK
Removed Drivers:
- Remove non-OF mmp clk drivers
- Remove OXNAS clk driver
Updates:
- Add __counted_by to struct clk_hw_onecell_data and struct spmi_pmic_div_clk_cc
- Move defines for numbers of clks (NR_CLKS) from DT headers to drivers
- Introduce kstrdup_and_replace() and use it
- Add PLL rates for Rockchip rk3568
- Add the display clock tree for Rockchip rv1126
- Add Audio Clock Generator (ADG) clocks on Renesas R-Car Gen3 and RZ/G2 SoCs
- Convert sun9i-mmc clock to use devm_platform_get_and_ioremap_resource()
- Fix function name in a comment in ccu_mmc_timing.c
- Parameter name correction for ccu_nkm_round_rate()
- Implement CLK_SET_RATE_PARENT for Allwinner NKM clocks, i.e. consider alternative
parent rates when determining clock rates
- Set CLK_SET_RATE_PARENT for Allwinner A64 pll-mipi
- Support finding closest (as opposed to closest but not higher) clock rate
for NM, NKM, mux and div type clocks, as use it for Allwinner A64 pll-video0
- Prefer current parent rate if able to generate ideal clock rate for Allwinner NKM clocks

Devicetree updates for v6.6:
DT core:
- Add support for generating DT nodes for PCI devices. This is the
groundwork for applying overlays to PCI devices containing
non-discoverable downstream devices.
- DT unittest additions to check reverted changesets, to test for
refcount issues, and to test unresolved symbols. Also, various
clean-ups of the unittest along the way.
- Refactor node and property manipulation functions to better share code
with old API and changeset API
- Refactor changeset print functions to a common implementation
- Move some platform_device specific functions into of_platform.c
Bindings:
- Treewide fixing of typos
- Treewide clean-up of SPDX tags to use 'OR' consistently
- Last chunk of dropping unnecessary quotes. With that, the check
for unnecessary quotes is enabled in yamllint.
- Convert ftgmac100, zynqmp-genpd, pps-gpio, syna,rmi4, and qcom,ssbi
bindings to DT schema format
- Add Allwinner V3s xHCI USB, Saef SF-TC154B display, QCom SM8450 Inline
Crypto Engine, QCom SM6115 UFS, QCom SDM670 PDC interrupt controller,
Arm 2022 Cortex cores, and QCom IPQ9574 Crypto bindings
- Fixes for Rockchip DWC PCI binding
- Ensure all properties are evaluated on USB connector schema
- Fix dt-check-compatible script to find of_device_id instances with
compiler annotations

"DT core:
- Add support for generating DT nodes for PCI devices. This is the
groundwork for applying overlays to PCI devices containing
non-discoverable downstream devices.
- DT unittest additions to check reverted changesets, to test for
refcount issues, and to test unresolved symbols. Also, various
clean-ups of the unittest along the way.
- Refactor node and property manipulation functions to better share
code with old API and changeset API
- Refactor changeset print functions to a common implementation
- Move some platform_device specific functions into of_platform.c
Bindings:
- Treewide fixing of typos
- Treewide clean-up of SPDX tags to use 'OR' consistently
- Last chunk of dropping unnecessary quotes. With that, the check for

regmap: Updates for v6.6
This is a much quieter release than the past few, there's one small API
addition that I noticed a user for in ALSA and a bunch of cleanups:
- Provide an interface for determining if a register is present in the
cache and add a user of it in ALSA.
- Full support for dynamic allocations, following the temporary bodges
that were done as fixes in the previous release.
- Remove the unused and questionably working 64 bit support.

crash: memory and CPU hotplug sysfs attributes
Introduce the crash_hotplug attribute for memory and CPUs for use by
userspace. These attributes directly facilitate the udev rule for
managing userspace re-loading of the crash kernel upon hot un/plug
changes.
For memory, expose the crash_hotplug attribute to the
/sys/devices/system/memory directory. For example:
# udevadm info --attribute-walk /sys/devices/system/memory/memory81
looking at device '/devices/system/memory/memory81':
KERNEL=="memory81"
SUBSYSTEM=="memory"
DRIVER==""
ATTR{online}=="1"
ATTR{phys_device}=="0"
ATTR{phys_index}=="00000051"
ATTR{removable}=="1"
ATTR{state}=="online"

looking at parent device '/devices/system/memory':

SUBSYSTEMS==""
DRIVERS==""
ATTRS{auto_online_blocks}=="offline"
ATTRS{block_size_bytes}=="8000000"
ATTRS{crash_hotplug}=="1"
For CPUs, expose the crash_hotplug attribute to the
/sys/devices/system/cpu directory. For example:
# udevadm info --attribute-walk /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0
looking at device '/devices/system/cpu/cpu0':
KERNEL=="cpu0"
SUBSYSTEM=="cpu"
DRIVER=="processor"
ATTR{crash_notes}=="277c38600"

With these sysfs attributes in place, it is possible to efficiently
instruct the udev rule to skip crash kernel reloading for kernels
configured with crash hotplug support.
For example, the following is the proposed udev rule change for RHEL
system 98-kexec.rules (as the first lines of the rule file):
# The kernel updates the crash elfcorehdr for CPU and memory changes
SUBSYSTEM=="cpu", ATTRS{crash_hotplug}=="1", GOTO="kdump_reload_end"
SUBSYSTEM=="memory", ATTRS{crash_hotplug}=="1", GOTO="kdump_reload_end"
When examined in the context of 98-kexec.rules, the above rules test if
crash_hotplug is set, and if so, the userspace initiated
unload-then-reload of the crash kernel is skipped.
CPU and memory checks are separated in accordance with CONFIG_HOTPLUG_CPU
and CONFIG_MEMORY_HOTPLUG kernel config options. If an architecture
supports, for example, memory hotplug but not CPU hotplug, then the
/sys/devices/system/memory/crash_hotplug attribute file is present, but
the /sys/devices/system/cpu/crash_hotplug attribute file will NOT be
present. Thus the udev rule skips userspace processing of memory hot
un/plug events, but the udev rule will evaluate false for CPU events, thus
allowing userspace to process CPU hot un/plug events (ie the
unload-then-reload of the kdump capture kernel).

driver core: Call in reversed order in device_platform_notify_remove()
It's logically correct to call the removal notifiers in the reversed order as it might be dependent to each other. Luckily, platform_notify_remove() currently is not used and the others have no dependency use, but theoretically it's still possible. mm/memory_hotplug: embed vmem_altmap details in memory block
With memmap on memory, some architecture needs more details w.r.t altmap such as base_pfn, end_pfn, etc to unmap vmemmap memory. Instead of computing them again when we remove a memory block, embed vmem_altmap details in struct memory_block if we are using memmap on memory block feature. drivers: base: Free devm resources when unregistering a device
In the current code, devres_release_all() only gets called if the device has a bus and has been probed. This leads to issues when using bus-less or driver-less devices where the device might never get freed if a managed resource holds a reference to the device. This is happening in the DRM framework for example. We should thus call devres_release_all() in the device_del() function to make sure that the device-managed actions are properly executed when the device is unregistered, even if it has neither a bus nor a driver. This is effectively the same change than commit |

drivers: base: Add basic devm tests for platform devices
Platform devices show some inconsistencies with how devm resources are released when the device has been probed and when it hasn't. In particular, we can register device-managed actions no matter if the device has be bound to a driver or not, but devres_release_all() will only be called if it was bound to a driver or if there's no reference held to it anymore. If it wasn't bound to a driver and we still have a reference, devres_release_all() will never get called. This is surprising considering that if the driver isn't bound but doesn't have any reference to it anymore, that function will get called, and if it was bound to a driver but still has references, that function will get called as well. Even if that case is fairly unusual, it can easily lead to memory leaks. The plan is, with the next patch, to make it consistent and enforce that devres_release_all() is called no matter what situation we're in. For now, it just tests for the current behaviour and skips over the inconsistencies. drivers: base: Add basic devm tests for root devices
The root devices show some odd behaviours compared to regular "bus" devices that have been probed through the usual mechanism, so let's create kunit tests to exercise those paths and odd cases. It's not clear whether root devices are even allowed to use device managed resources, but the fact that it works in some cases but not others like shown in that test suite shouldn't happen either way: we want to make it consistent and documented. These tests will (after the following patches) ensure that consistency and effectively document that it's allowed. If it ever turns out to be a bad idea, we can always roll back and modify the tests then.
