Several workarounds are guarded by IS_MTL_GRAPHICS_STEP. However none
of these workarounds are actually tied to MTL as a platform; they only
relate to the Xe_LPG graphics IP, regardless of what platform it appears
in. At the moment MTL is the only platform that uses Xe_LPG with IP
versions 12.70 and 12.71, but we can't count on this being true in the
future. Switch these to use a new IS_GFX_GT_IP_STEP() macro instead
that is purely based on IP version. IS_GFX_GT_IP_STEP() is also
GT-based rather than device-based, which will help prevent mistakes
where we accidentally try to apply Xe_LPG graphics workarounds to the
Xe_LPM+ media GT and vice-versa.
v2:
- Switch to a more generic and shorter IS_GT_IP_STEP macro that can be
used for both graphics and media IP (and any other kind of GTs that
show up in the future).

Although some of our Xe_LPG workarounds were already being applied based
on IP version correctly, others were matching on MTL as a base platform,
which is incorrect. Although MTL is the only platform right now that
uses Xe_LPG IP, this may not always be the case. If a future platform
re-uses this graphics IP, the same workarounds should be applied, even
if it isn't a "MTL" platform.
We were also incorrectly applying Xe_LPG workarounds/tuning to the
Xe_LPM+ media IP in one or two places; we should make sure that we don't
try to apply graphics workarounds to the media GT and vice versa where
they don't belong. A new helper macro IS_GT_IP_RANGE() is added to help
ensure this is handled properly -- it checks that the GT matches the IP
type being tested as well as the IP version falling in the proper range.
Note that many of the stepping-based workarounds are still incorrectly
checking for a MTL base platform; that will be remedied in a later
patch.
v2:
- Rework macro into a slightly more generic IS_GT_IP_RANGE() that can
be used for either GFX or MEDIA checks.
v3:
- Switch back to separate macros for gfx and media. (Jani)

Calling i915_gem_object_get_dma_address() from the vblank
evade critical section triggers might_sleep().
While we know that we've already pinned the framebuffer
and thus i915_gem_object_get_dma_address() will in fact
not sleep in this case, it seems reasonable to keep the
unconditional might_sleep() for maximum coverage.
So let's instead pre-populate the dma address during
fb pinning, which all happens before we enter the
vblank evade critical section.
We can use u32 for the dma address as this class of
hardware doesn't support >32bit addresses.

Since commit 0c65dc0626 ("drm/i915/jsl: s/JSL/JASPERLAKE for

That commit was intended to refactor EHL and JSL macros, but the change

when it was only intended to match EHL.
It replaced:

commit 18846627ef upstream.
Reinstate commit 88b065943c ("drm/i915/dsi: Do display on
sequence later on icl+"), for the most part. Turns out some
machines (eg. Chuwi Minibook X) really do need that updated order.
It is also the order the Windows driver uses.
However we can't just undo the revert since that would again
break Lenovo 82TQ. After staring at the VBT sequences for both
machines I've concluded that the Lenovo 82TQ sequences look
somewhat broken:
- INIT_OTP is not present at all
- what should be in INIT_OTP is found in DISPLAY_ON
- what should be in DISPLAY_ON is found in BACKLIGHT_ON
(along with the actual backlight stuff)
The Chuwi Minibook X on the other hand has a full complement
of sequences in its VBT.
So let's try to deal with the broken sequences in the
Lenovo 82TQ VBT by simply swapping the (non-existent)
INIT_OTP sequence with the DISPLAY_ON sequence. Thus we
execute DISPLAY_ON when intending to execute INIT_OTP,
and execute nothing at all when intending to execute
DISPLAY_ON. That should be 100% equivalent to the
revert, for such broken VBTs.

commit 16e87fe23d upstream.
The kcalloc() in nouveau_dmem_evict_chunk() will return null if
the physical memory has run out. As a result, if we dereference
src_pfns, dst_pfns or dma_addrs, the null pointer dereference bugs
will happen.
Moreover, the GPU is going away. If the kcalloc() fails, we could not
evict all pages mapping a chunk. So this patch adds a __GFP_NOFAIL
flag in kcalloc().
Finally, as there is no need to have physically contiguous memory,
this patch switches kcalloc() to kvcalloc() in order to avoid
failing allocations.

commit 0b385be4c3 upstream.
The icl+ power well code currently assumes that every AUX power
well maps to an encoder which is using said power well. That is
by no menas guaranteed as we:
- only register encoders for ports declared in the VBT
- combo PHY HDMI-only encoder no longer get an AUX CH since
commit 9856308c94 ("drm/i915: Only populate aux_ch if really needed")
However we have places such as intel_power_domains_sanitize_state()
that blindly traverse all the possible power wells. So these bits
of code may very well encounbter an aux power well with no associated
encoder.
In this particular case the BIOS seems to have left one AUX power
well enabled even though we're dealing with a HDMI only encoder
on a combo PHY. We then proceed to turn off said power well and
explode when we can't find a matching encoder. As a short term fix
we should be able to just skip the PHY related parts of the power
well programming since we know this situation can only happen with
combo PHYs.
Another option might be to go back to always picking an AUX CH for
all encoders. However I'm a bit wary about that since we might in
theory end up conflicting with the VBT AUX CH assignment. Also
that wouldn't help with encoders not declared in the VBT, should
we ever need to poke the corresponding power wells.
Longer term we need to figure out what the actual relationship
is between the PHY vs. AUX CH vs. AUX power well. Currently this
is entirely unclear.

If VM_BIND is enabled on the client the legacy submission ioctl can't be
used, however if a client tries to do so regardless it will return an
error. In this case the clients mutex remained unlocked leading to a
deadlock inside nouveau_drm_postclose or any other nouveau ioctl call.

Some drivers require the mapped tt pages to be decrypted. In an ideal
world this would have been handled by the dma layer, but the TTM page
fault handling would have to be rewritten to able to do that.
A side-effect of the TTM page fault handling is using a dma allocation
per order (via ttm_pool_alloc_page) which makes it impossible to just
trivially use dma_mmap_attrs. As a result ttm has to be very careful
about trying to make its pgprot for the mapped tt pages match what
the dma layer thinks it is. At the ttm layer it's possible to
deduce the requirement to have tt pages decrypted by checking
whether coherent dma allocations have been requested and the system
is running with confidential computing technologies.
This approach isn't ideal but keeping TTM matching DMAs expectations
for the page properties is in general fragile, unfortunately proper
fix would require a rewrite of TTM's page fault handling.

Otherwise after the GTT bo is released, the GTT and gart space is freed
but amdgpu_ttm_backend_unbind will not clear the gart page table entry
and leave valid mapping entry pointing to the stale system page. Then
if GPU access the gart address mistakely, it will read undefined value
instead page fault, harder to debug and reproduce the real issue.
