[ Upstream commit c6a43bc3e8 ]
When passing a list to subprocess.Popen, each element maps to one argv
token. Current code bundles multiple Clang flags into a single element,
something like:
cmd = ['clang',
'--target=x86_64-linux-gnu -fintegrated-as -Wno-cast-function-type-mismatch',
'test-hello.c']
So Clang only sees one long, invalid option instead of separate flags,
as a result, the script cannot capture any log via PIPE.
Fix this by using shlex.split() to separate the string so each option
becomes its own argv element. The fixed list will be:
cmd = ['clang',
'--target=x86_64-linux-gnu',
'-fintegrated-as',
'-Wno-cast-function-type-mismatch',
'test-hello.c']

Commit 7b100989b4 ("perf evlist: Remove __evlist__add_default")
changed to parse "cycles:P" event instead of creating a new cycles
event for perf record. But it also changed the way how modifiers are
handled so it doesn't set the exclude_guest bit by default.
It seems Apple M1 PMU requires exclude_guest set and returns EOPNOTSUPP
if not. Let's add a fallback so that it can work with default events.
Also update perf stat hybrid tests to handle possible u or H modifiers.

If a user specifies an AUX buffer larger than 2 GiB, the returned size
may exceed 0x80000000. Since the err variable is defined as a signed

As a result, the perf record command reports an error:

The lzma_is_compressed and gzip_is_compressed functions are declared
to return a "bool" type, but in case of an error (e.g., file open

A bool type is a boolean value that is either true or false.
Returning -1 for a bool return type can lead to unexpected behavior
and may violate strict type-checking in some compilers.
Fix the return value to be false in error cases, ensuring the function
adheres to its declared return type improves for preventing potential
bugs related to type mismatch.

devm_kcalloc() may fail. ndtest_probe() allocates three DMA address
arrays (dcr_dma, label_dma, dimm_dma) and later unconditionally uses
them in ndtest_nvdimm_init(), which can lead to a NULL pointer
dereference under low-memory conditions.
Check all three allocations and return -ENOMEM if any allocation fails,
jumping to the common error path. Do not emit an extra error message
since the allocator already warns on allocation failure.

When a module registers a struct_ops, the struct_ops type and its
corresponding map_value type ("bpf_struct_ops_") may reside in different
btf objects, here are four possible case:
+--------+---------------+-------------+---------------------------------+
| |bpf_struct_ops_| xxx_ops | |
+--------+---------------+-------------+---------------------------------+
| case 0 | btf_vmlinux | btf_vmlinux | be used and reg only in vmlinux |
+--------+---------------+-------------+---------------------------------+
| case 1 | btf_vmlinux | mod_btf | INVALID |
+--------+---------------+-------------+---------------------------------+
| case 2 | mod_btf | btf_vmlinux | reg in mod but be used both in |
| | | | vmlinux and mod. |
+--------+---------------+-------------+---------------------------------+
| case 3 | mod_btf | mod_btf | be used and reg only in mod |
+--------+---------------+-------------+---------------------------------+
Currently we figure out the mod_btf by searching with the struct_ops type,
which makes it impossible to figure out the mod_btf when the struct_ops
type is in btf_vmlinux while it's corresponding map_value type is in
mod_btf (case 2).
The fix is to use the corresponding map_value type ("bpf_struct_ops_")
as the lookup anchor instead of the struct_ops type to figure out the
`btf` and `mod_btf` via find_ksym_btf_id(), and then we can locate
the kern_type_id via btf__find_by_name_kind() with the `btf` we just
obtained from find_ksym_btf_id().
With this change the lookup obtains the correct btf and mod_btf for case 2,
preserves correct behavior for other valid cases, and still fails as
expected for the invalid scenario (case 1).

But since __kernel_old_time_t is fairly new, notably from 2020 in commit

nolibc builds that rely on host headers may fail.

The _rval register variable is meant to be an output operand of the asm

It seems the list of input and output operands have been switched around.
However as the argument registers are not always initialized they can not
be marked as pure inputs as that would trigger -Wuninitialized warnings.
Adding _rval as another input and output operand does also not work as it
would collide with the existing _r3 variable.
Instead reuse _r3 for both the argument and the return value.

Previously, re-using pinned DEVMAP maps would always fail, because
get_map_info on a DEVMAP always returns flags with BPF_F_RDONLY_PROG set,
but BPF_F_RDONLY_PROG being set on a map during creation is invalid.
Thus, ignore the BPF_F_RDONLY_PROG flag in the flags returned from
get_map_info when checking for compatibility with an existing DEVMAP.

Based on a bisect, it appears that commit 7ee9887703 ("timers:
Implement the hierarchical pull model") has somehow inadvertently
broken BPF selftest test_tcpnotify_user. The error that is being
generated by this test is as follows:
FAILED: Wrong stats Expected 10 calls, got 8
It looks like the change allows timer functions to be run on CPUs
different from the one they are armed on. The test had pinned itself
to CPU 0, and in the past the retransmit attempts also occurred on CPU
0. The test had set the max_entries attribute for
BPF_MAP_TYPE_PERF_EVENT_ARRAY to 2 and was calling
bpf_perf_event_output() with BPF_F_CURRENT_CPU, so the entry was
likely to be in range. With the change to allow timers to run on other
CPUs, the current CPU tasked with performing the retransmit might be
bumped and in turn fall out of range, as the event will be filtered
out via __bpf_perf_event_output() using:
if (unlikely(index >= array->map.max_entries))
return -E2BIG;
A possible change would be to explicitly set the max_entries attribute
for perf_event_map in test_tcpnotify_kern.c to a value that's at least
as large as the number of CPUs. As it turns out however, if the field
is left unset, then the libbpf will determine the number of CPUs available
on the underlying system and update the max_entries attribute accordingly
in map_set_def_max_entries().
A further problem with the test is that it has a thread that continues
running up until the program exits. The main thread cleans up some
LIBBPF data structures, while the other thread continues to use them,
which inevitably will trigger a SIGSEGV. This can be dealt with by
telling the thread to run for as long as necessary and doing a
pthread_join on it before exiting the program.
Finally, I don't think binding the process to CPU 0 is meaningful for
this test any more, so get rid of that.

In the failing scenarios (TCP -> MPTCP), the involved sockets are
actually plain TCP ones, as fallbacks for passive sockets at 2WHS time
cause the MPTCP listeners to actually create 'plain' TCP sockets.
Similar to commit 218cc16632 ("selftests: mptcp: avoid spurious errors
on disconnect"), the root cause is in the user-space bits: the test
program tries to disconnect as soon as all the pending data has been
spooled, generating an RST. If such option reaches the peer before the
connection has reached the closed status, the TCP socket will report an
error to the user-space, as per protocol specification, causing the
above failure. Note that it looks like this issue got more visible since
the "tcp: receiver changes" series from commit 06baf9bfa6 ("Merge
branch 'tcp-receiver-changes'").
Address the issue by explicitly waiting for the TCP sockets (-t) to
reach a closed status before performing the disconnect. More precisely,
the test program now waits for plain TCP sockets or TCP subflows in
addition to the MPTCP sockets that were already monitored.
While at it, use 'ss' with '-n' to avoid resolving service names, which
is not needed here.

main loop for the server side, but the returned value was ignored. As a
consequence, the program for the listener side was no longer exiting
with an error code in case of IO issues.
Because of that, some issues might not have been seen. But very likely,
most issues either had an effect on the client side, or the file
transfer was not the expected one, e.g. the connection got reset before
the end. Still, it is better to fix this.
The main consequence of this issue is the error that was reported by the
selftests: the received and sent files were different, and the MIB
counters were not printed. Also, when such errors happened during the
'disconnect' tests, the program tried to continue until the timeout.
Now when an IO error is detected, the program exits directly with an
error.

When compiling with LLVM and CONFIG_RUST is set, there exists the
following objtool warning:
rust/compiler_builtins.o: warning: objtool: __rust__unordsf2(): unexpected end of section .text.unlikely.
objdump shows that the end of section .text.unlikely is an atomic

According to the LoongArch Reference Manual, if the amswap.w atomic
memory access instruction has the same register number as rd and rj,
the execution will trigger an Instruction Non-defined Exception, so
mark the above instruction as INSN_BUG type to fix the warning.

This patch fixes several issues in the error reporting of the MPTCP sockopt
selftest:
1. Fix diff not printed: The error messages for counter mismatches had
the actual difference ('diff') as argument, but it was missing in the
format string. Displaying it makes the debugging easier.
2. Fix variable usage: The error check for 'mptcpi_bytes_acked' incorrectly
used 'ret2' (sent bytes) for both the expected value and the difference
calculation. It now correctly uses 'ret' (received bytes), which is the
expected value for bytes_acked.
3. Fix off-by-one in diff: The calculation for the 'mptcpi_rcv_delta' diff
was 's.mptcpi_rcv_delta - ret', which is off-by-one. It has been
corrected to 's.mptcpi_rcv_delta - (ret + 1)' to match the expected
value in the condition above it.

In get_bpf_prog_info_linear two calls to bpf_obj_get_info_by_fd are
made, the first to compute memory requirements for a struct perf_bpil
and the second to fill it in. Previously the code would warn when the
second call didn't match the first. Such races can be common place in
things like perf test, whose perf trace tests will frequently load BPF
programs. Rather than a debug message, return actual errors for this
case. Out of paranoia also validate the read bpf_prog_info array
value. Change the type of ptr to avoid mismatched pointer type
compiler warnings. Add some additional debug print outs and sanity
asserts.

Calls to perf_env__insert_bpf_prog_info may fail as a sideband thread
may already have inserted the bpf_prog_info. Such failures may yield

Jakub says:
nft_flowtable.sh is one of the most flake-atious test for netdev CI currently :(
The root cause is two-fold:
1. the failing part of the test is supposed to make sure that ip
fragments are forwarded for offloaded flows.
(flowtable has to pass them to classic forward path).
path mtu discovery for these subtests is disabled.
2. nft_flowtable.sh has two passes. One with fixed mtus/file size and
one where link mtus and file sizes are random.
The CI failures all have same pattern:
re-run with random mtus and file size: -o 27663 -l 4117 -r 10089 -s 54384840
[..]
PASS: dscp_egress: dscp packet counters match
FAIL: file mismatch for ns1 -> ns2
In some cases this error triggers a bit ealier, sometimes in a later
subtest:
re-run with random mtus and file size: -o 20201 -l 4555 -r 12657 -s 9405856
[..]
PASS: dscp_egress: dscp packet counters match
PASS: dscp_fwd: dscp packet counters match
2025/08/17 20:37:52 socat[18954] E write(7, 0x560716b96000, 8192): Broken pipe
FAIL: file mismatch for ns1 -> ns2
-rw------- 1 root root 9405856 Aug 17 20:36 /tmp/tmp.2n63vlTrQe
But all logs I saw show same scenario:
1. Failing tests have pmtu discovery off (i.e., ip fragmentation)
2. The test file is much larger than first-pass default (2M Byte)
3. peers have much larger MTUs compared to the 'network'.
These errors are very reproducible when re-running the test with
the same commandline arguments.
The timeout became much more prominent with
1d2fbaad7c ("tcp: stronger sk_rcvbuf checks"): reassembled packets
typically have a skb->truesize more than double the skb length.
As that commit is intentional and pmtud-off with
large-tcp-packets-as-fragments is not normal adjust the test to use a
smaller file for the pmtu-off subtests.
While at it, add more information to pass/fail messages and
also run the dscp alteration subtest with pmtu discovery enabled.

Size of ring buffer, as defined in uio_hv_generic driver, is no longer
fixed to 16 KB. This creates a problem in fcopy, since this size was
hardcoded. With the change in place to make ring sysfs node actually
reflect the size of underlying ring buffer, it is safe to get the size
of ring sysfs file and use it for ring buffer size in fcopy daemon.
Fix the issue of disparity in ring buffer size, by making it dynamic
