b0878a23ae io_uring: don't use int for ABI
commit cf73d9970e upstream.

__kernel_rwf_t is defined as int, the actual size of which is
implementation defined. It won't go well if some compiler / archs
ever defines it as i64, so replace it with __u32, hoping that
there is no one using i16 for it.

e2a4325ce2 net: usbnet: Avoid potential RCU stall on LINK_CHANGE event
commit 0d9cfc9b8c upstream.

The Gemalto Cinterion PLS83-W modem (cdc_ether) is emitting confusing link
up and down events when the WWAN interface is activated on the modem-side.

Interrupt URBs will in consecutive polls grab:
* Link Connected
* Link Disconnected
* Link Connected

Where the last Connected is then a stable link state.

When the system is under load this may cause the unlink_urbs() work in
__handle_link_change() to not complete before the next usbnet_link_change()
call turns the carrier on again, allowing rx_submit() to queue new SKBs.

In that event the URB queue is filled faster than it can drain, ending up
in a RCU stall:

    rcu: INFO: rcu_sched detected expedited stalls on CPUs/tasks: { 0-.... } 33108 jiffies s: 201 root: 0x1/.

Get around the problem by delaying the carrier on to the scheduled work.

This needs a new flag to keep track of the necessary action.

The carrier ok check cannot be removed as it remains required for the
LINK_RESET event flow.

To trigger gso segment in udp_queue_rcv_skb(), we should also set option
UDP_ENCAP_ESPINUDP to enable udp_sk(sk)->encap_rcv. When the encap_rcv
hook return 1 in udp_queue_rcv_one_skb(), udp_csum_pull_header() will try
to pull udphdr, but the skb size has been segmented to gso size, which
leads to this crash.

Previous commit cf329aa42b ("udp: cope with UDP GRO packet misdirection")
introduces segmentation in UDP receive path only for GRO, which was never
intended to be used for UFO, so drop UFO packets in udp_rcv_segment().

0b973c5eee module: Restore the moduleparam prefix length check
[ Upstream commit bdc877ba6b ]

The moduleparam code allows modules to provide their own definition of
MODULE_PARAM_PREFIX, instead of using the default KBUILD_MODNAME ".".

Commit 730b69d225 ("module: check kernel param length at compile time,
not runtime") added a check to ensure the prefix doesn't exceed
MODULE_NAME_LEN, as this is what param_sysfs_builtin() expects.

Later, commit 58f86cc89c ("VERIFY_OCTAL_PERMISSIONS: stricter checking
for sysfs perms.") removed this check, but there is no indication this was
intentional.

Since the check is still useful for param_sysfs_builtin() to function
properly, reintroduce it in __module_param_call(), but in a modernized form
using static_assert().

While here, clean up the __module_param_call() comments. In particular,
remove the comment "Default value instead of permissions?", which comes
from commit 9774a1f54f ("[PATCH] Compile-time check re world-writeable
module params"). This comment was related to the test variable
__param_perm_check_##name, which was removed in the previously mentioned
commit 58f86cc89c.

a891b456ba pps: fix poll support
[ Upstream commit 12c409aa1e ]

Because pps_cdev_poll() returns unconditionally EPOLLIN,
a user space program that calls select/poll get always an immediate data
ready-to-read response. As a result the intended use to wait until next
data becomes ready does not work.

User space snippet:

    struct pollfd pollfd = {
      .fd = open("/dev/pps0", O_RDONLY),
      .events = POLLIN|POLLERR,
      .revents = 0 };
    while(1) {
      poll(&pollfd, 1, 2000/*ms*/); // returns immediate, but should wait
      if(revents & EPOLLIN) { // always true
        struct pps_fdata fdata;
        memset(&fdata, 0, sizeof(memdata));
        ioctl(PPS_FETCH, &fdata); // currently fetches data at max speed
      }
    }

Lets remember the last fetch event counter and compare this value
in pps_cdev_poll() with most recent event counter
and return 0 if they are equal.

84df80b4c7 dma-buf: add dma_resv_for_each_fence_unlocked v8
[ Upstream commit c921ff373b ]

Abstract the complexity of iterating over all the fences

The new loop handles the whole RCU and retry dance and
returns only fences where we can be sure we grabbed the
right one.

v2: fix accessing the shared fences while they might be freed,
    improve kerneldoc, rename _cursor to _iter, add
    dma_resv_iter_is_exclusive, add dma_resv_iter_begin/end

v3: restructor the code, move rcu_read_lock()/unlock() into the
    iterator, add dma_resv_iter_is_restarted()

v4: fix NULL deref when no explicit fence exists, drop superflous
    rcu_read_lock()/unlock() calls.

v5: fix typos in the documentation

v6: fix coding error when excl fence is NULL

2f4df5d07c drm/gem: Fix race in drm_gem_handle_create_tail()
commit bd46cece51 upstream.

Object creation is a careful dance where we must guarantee that the
object is fully constructed before it is visible to other threads, and
GEM buffer objects are no difference.

Final publishing happens by calling drm_gem_handle_create(). After
that the only allowed thing to do is call drm_gem_object_put() because
a concurrent call to the GEM_CLOSE ioctl with a correctly guessed id
(which is trivial since we have a linear allocator) can already tear
down the object again.

Luckily most drivers get this right, the very few exceptions I've
pinged the relevant maintainers for. Unfortunately we also need
drm_gem_handle_create() when creating additional handles for an
already existing object (e.g. GETFB ioctl or the various bo import
ioctl), and hence we cannot have a drm_gem_handle_create_and_put() as
the only exported function to stop these issues from happening.

Now unfortunately the implementation of drm_gem_handle_create() isn't
living up to standards: It does correctly finishe object
initialization at the global level, and hence is safe against a
concurrent tear down. But it also sets up the file-private aspects of
the handle, and that part goes wrong: We fully register the object in
the drm_file.object_idr before calling drm_vma_node_allow() or
obj->funcs->open, which opens up races against concurrent removal of
that handle in drm_gem_handle_delete().

Fix this with the usual two-stage approach of first reserving the
handle id, and then only registering the object after we've completed
the file-private setup.

Jacek reported this with a testcase of concurrently calling GEM_CLOSE
on a freshly-created object (which also destroys the object), but it
should be possible to hit this with just additional handles created
through import or GETFB without completed destroying the underlying
object with the concurrent GEM_CLOSE ioctl calls.

Note that the close-side of this race was fixed in f6cd7daecf ("drm:
Release driver references to handle before making it available
again"), which means a cool 9 years have passed until someone noticed
that we need to make this symmetry or there's still gaps left :-/
Without the 2-stage close approach we'd still have a race, therefore
that's an integral part of this bugfix.

More importantly, this means we can have NULL pointers behind
allocated id in our drm_file.object_idr. We need to check for that
now:

- drm_gem_handle_delete() checks for ERR_OR_NULL already

- drm_gem.c:object_lookup() also chekcs for NULL

- drm_gem_release() should never be called if there's another thread
  still existing that could call into an IOCTL that creates a new
  handle, so cannot race. For paranoia I added a NULL check to
  drm_gem_object_release_handle() though.

- most drivers (etnaviv, i915, msm) are find because they use
  idr_find(), which maps both ENOENT and NULL to NULL.

- drivers using idr_for_each_entry() should also be fine, because
  idr_get_next does filter out NULL entries and continues the
  iteration.

- The same holds for drm_show_memory_stats().

v2: Use drm_WARN_ON (Thomas)

ae0e082687 xen: replace xen_remap() with memremap()
commit 41925b105e upstream.

xen_remap() is used to establish mappings for frames not under direct
control of the kernel: for Xenstore and console ring pages, and for
grant pages of non-PV guests.

Today xen_remap() is defined to use ioremap() on x86 (doing uncached
mappings), and ioremap_cache() on Arm (doing cached mappings).

Uncached mappings for those use cases are bad for performance, so they
should be avoided if possible. As all use cases of xen_remap() don't
require uncached mappings (the mapped area is always physical RAM),
a mapping using the standard WB cache mode is fine.

As sparse is flagging some of the xen_remap() use cases to be not
appropriate for iomem(), as the result is not annotated with the
__iomem modifier, eliminate xen_remap() completely and replace all
use cases with memremap() specifying the MEMREMAP_WB caching mode.

xen_unmap() can be replaced with memunmap().

6d7fcd8a7a bpf: Fix L4 csum update on IPv6 in CHECKSUM_COMPLETE
commit ead7f9b8de upstream.

In Cilium, we use bpf_csum_diff + bpf_l4_csum_replace to, among other
things, update the L4 checksum after reverse SNATing IPv6 packets. That
use case is however not currently supported and leads to invalid
skb->csum values in some cases. This patch adds support for IPv6 address
changes in bpf_l4_csum_update via a new flag.

When calling bpf_l4_csum_replace in Cilium, it ends up calling
inet_proto_csum_replace_by_diff:

    1:  void inet_proto_csum_replace_by_diff(__sum16 *sum, struct sk_buff *skb,
    2:                                       __wsum diff, bool pseudohdr)
    3:  {
    4:      if (skb->ip_summed != CHECKSUM_PARTIAL) {
    5:          csum_replace_by_diff(sum, diff);
    6:          if (skb->ip_summed == CHECKSUM_COMPLETE && pseudohdr)
    7:              skb->csum = ~csum_sub(diff, skb->csum);
    8:      } else if (pseudohdr) {
    9:          *sum = ~csum_fold(csum_add(diff, csum_unfold(*sum)));
    10:     }
    11: }

The bug happens when we're in the CHECKSUM_COMPLETE state. We've just
updated one of the IPv6 addresses. The helper now updates the L4 header
checksum on line 5. Next, it updates skb->csum on line 7. It shouldn't.

For an IPv6 packet, the updates of the IPv6 address and of the L4
checksum will cancel each other. The checksums are set such that
computing a checksum over the packet including its checksum will result
in a sum of 0. So the same is true here when we update the L4 checksum
on line 5. We'll update it as to cancel the previous IPv6 address
update. Hence skb->csum should remain untouched in this case.

The same bug doesn't affect IPv4 packets because, in that case, three
fields are updated: the IPv4 address, the IP checksum, and the L4
checksum. The change to the IPv4 address and one of the checksums still
cancel each other in skb->csum, but we're left with one checksum update
and should therefore update skb->csum accordingly. That's exactly what
inet_proto_csum_replace_by_diff does.

This special case for IPv6 L4 checksums is also described atop
inet_proto_csum_replace16, the function we should be using in this case.

This patch introduces a new bpf_l4_csum_replace flag, BPF_F_IPV6,
to indicate that we're updating the L4 checksum of an IPv6 packet. When
the flag is set, inet_proto_csum_replace_by_diff will skip the
skb->csum update.

During ILA address translations, the L4 checksums can be handled in

This is happening because inet_proto_csum_replace_by_diff is updating
skb->csum when it shouldn't. The L4 checksum is updated such that it
"cancels" the IPv6 address change in terms of checksum computation, so
the impact on skb->csum is null.

Note this would be different for an IPv4 packet since three fields
would be updated: the IPv4 address, the IP checksum, and the L4
checksum. Two would cancel each other and skb->csum would still need
to be updated to take the L4 checksum change into account.

This patch fixes it by passing an ipv6 flag to
inet_proto_csum_replace_by_diff, to skip the skb->csum update if we're
in the IPv6 case. Note the behavior of the only other user of
inet_proto_csum_replace_by_diff, the BPF subsystem, is left as is in
this patch and fixed in the subsequent patch.

With the fix, using the reproduction from above, I can confirm
skb->csum is not touched by inet_proto_csum_replace_by_diff and the TCP
SYN proceeds to the application after the ILA translation.

The issue may be triggered by damon, offline_page, page_idle, etc, which
will increase the refcount of page table.

1. The page table itself will be discarded after reporting the
   "nonzero mapcount".

2. The HugeTLB page mapped by the page table miss freeing since we
   treat the page table as shared and a shared page table will not be
   unmapped.

Fix it by introducing independent PMD page table shared count. As
described by comment, pt_index/pt_mm/pt_frag_refcount are used for s390
gmap, x86 pgds and powerpc, pt_share_count is used for x86/arm64/riscv
pmds, so we can reuse the field as pt_share_count.

366298f2b0 mm/hugetlb: unshare page tables during VMA split, not before
commit 081056dc00 upstream.

Currently, __split_vma() triggers hugetlb page table unsharing through
vm_ops->may_split(). This happens before the VMA lock and rmap locks are
taken - which is too early, it allows racing VMA-locked page faults in our
process and racing rmap walks from other processes to cause page tables to
be shared again before we actually perform the split.

Fix it by explicitly calling into the hugetlb unshare logic from
__split_vma() in the same place where THP splitting also happens. At that
point, both the VMA and the rmap(s) are write-locked.

An annoying detail is that we can now call into the helper
hugetlb_unshare_pmds() from two different locking contexts:

1. from hugetlb_split(), holding:
    - mmap lock (exclusively)
    - VMA lock
    - file rmap lock (exclusively)
2. hugetlb_unshare_all_pmds(), which I think is designed to be able to
   call us with only the mmap lock held (in shared mode), but currently
   only runs while holding mmap lock (exclusively) and VMA lock

Backporting note:
This commit fixes a racy protection that was introduced in commit
b30c14cd61 ("hugetlb: unshare some PMDs when splitting VMAs"); that
commit claimed to fix an issue introduced in 5.13, but it should actually
also go all the way back.

1df80d748f HID: usbhid: Eliminate recurrent out-of-bounds bug in usbhid_parse()
commit fe7f7ac8e0 upstream.

Update struct hid_descriptor to better reflect the mandatory and
optional parts of the HID Descriptor as per USB HID 1.11 specification.
Note: the kernel currently does not parse any optional HID class
descriptors, only the mandatory report descriptor.

Update all references to member element desc[0] to rpt_desc.

Add test to verify bLength and bNumDescriptors values are valid.

Replace the for loop with direct access to the mandatory HID class
descriptor member for the report descriptor. This eliminates the
possibility of getting an out-of-bounds fault.

Add a warning message if the HID descriptor contains any unsupported
optional HID class descriptors.

287b4f085d atm: Revert atm_account_tx() if copy_from_iter_full() fails.
commit 7851263998 upstream.

In vcc_sendmsg(), we account skb->truesize to sk->sk_wmem_alloc by
atm_account_tx().

It is expected to be reverted by atm_pop_raw() later called by
vcc->dev->ops->send(vcc, skb).

However, vcc_sendmsg() misses the same revert when copy_from_iter_full()
fails, and then we will leak a socket.

Let's factorise the revert part as atm_return_tx() and call it in
the failure path.

Note that the corresponding sk_wmem_alloc operation can be found in
alloc_tx() as of the blamed commit.

6448774d58 ACPICA: Avoid sequence overread in call to strncmp()
[ Upstream commit 64b9dfd077 ]

ACPICA commit 8b83a8d88dfec59ea147fad35fc6deea8859c58c

ap_get_table_length() checks if tables are valid by
calling ap_is_valid_header(). The latter then calls
ACPI_VALIDATE_RSDP_SIG(Table->Signature).

ap_is_valid_header() accepts struct acpi_table_header as an argument, so
the signature size is always fixed to 4 bytes.

The problem is when the string comparison is between ACPI-defined table
signature and ACPI_SIG_RSDP. Common ACPI table header specifies the
Signature field to be 4 bytes long[1], with the exception of the RSDP
structure whose signature is 8 bytes long "RSD PTR " (including the
trailing blank character)[2]. Calling strncmp(sig, rsdp_sig, 8) would
then result in a sequence overread[3] as sig would be smaller (4 bytes)
than the specified bound (8 bytes).

As a workaround, pass the bound conditionally based on the size of the
signature being passed.

6fa68d7eab net: Fix TOCTOU issue in sk_is_readable()
[ Upstream commit 2660a544fd ]

sk->sk_prot->sock_is_readable is a valid function pointer when sk resides
in a sockmap. After the last sk_psock_put() (which usually happens when
socket is removed from sockmap), sk->sk_prot gets restored and
sk->sk_prot->sock_is_readable becomes NULL.

This makes sk_is_readable() racy, if the value of sk->sk_prot is reloaded
after the initial check. Which in turn may lead to a null pointer
dereference.

Ensure the function pointer does not turn NULL after the check.

e74b9a7269 firmware: SDEI: Allow sdei initialization without ACPI_APEI_GHES
[ Upstream commit 59529bbe64 ]

SDEI usually initialize with the ACPI table, but on platforms where
ACPI is not used, the SDEI feature can still be used to handle
specific firmware calls or other customized purposes. Therefore, it
is not necessary for ARM_SDE_INTERFACE to depend on ACPI_APEI_GHES.

In commit dc4e8c07e9 ("ACPI: APEI: explicit init of HEST and GHES
in acpi_init()"), to make APEI ready earlier, sdei_init was moved
into acpi_ghes_init instead of being a standalone initcall, adding
ACPI_APEI_GHES dependency to ARM_SDE_INTERFACE. This restricts the
flexibility and usability of SDEI.

This patch corrects the dependency in Kconfig and splits sdei_init()
into two separate functions: sdei_init() and acpi_sdei_init().
sdei_init() will be called by arch_initcall and will only initialize
the platform driver, while acpi_sdei_init() will initialize the
device from acpi_ghes_init() when ACPI is ready. This allows the
initialization of SDEI without ACPI_APEI_GHES enabled.

961caaf8ad tpm: tis: Double the timeout B to 4s
[ Upstream commit 2f661f71fd ]

With some Infineon chips the timeouts in tpm_tis_send_data (both B and
C) can reach up to about 2250 ms.

Timeout C is retried since
commit de9e33df77 ("tpm, tpm_tis: Workaround failed command reception on Infineon devices")

Timeout B still needs to be extended.

The problem is most commonly encountered with context related operation
such as load context/save context. These are issued directly by the
kernel, and there is no retry logic for them.

When a filesystem is set up to use the TPM for unlocking the boot fails,
and restarting the userspace service is ineffective. This is likely
because ignoring a load context/save context result puts the real TPM
state and the TPM state expected by the kernel out of sync.

1686594d72 coredump: hand a pidfd to the usermode coredump helper
commit b5325b2a27 upstream.

Give userspace a way to instruct the kernel to install a pidfd into the
usermode helper process. This makes coredump handling a lot more
reliable for userspace. In parallel with this commit we already have
systemd adding support for this in [1].

We create a pidfs file for the coredumping process when we process the
corename pattern. When the usermode helper process is forked we then
install the pidfs file as file descriptor three into the usermode
helpers file descriptor table so it's available to the exec'd program.

Since usermode helpers are either children of the system_unbound_wq
workqueue or kthreadd we know that the file descriptor table is empty
and can thus always use three as the file descriptor number.

Note, that we'll install a pidfd for the thread-group leader even if a
subthread is calling do_coredump(). We know that task linkage hasn't
been removed due to delay_group_leader() and even if this @current isn't
the actual thread-group leader we know that the thread-group leader
cannot be reaped until @current has exited.

[brauner: This is a backport for the v5.14 series. Upstream has
significantly changed and backporting all that infra is a non-starter.
So simply backport the pidfd_prepare() helper and waste the file
descriptor we allocated. Then we minimally massage the umh coredump
setup code.]

7f8c3fd203 pid: add pidfd_prepare()
commit 6ae930d9db upstream.

Add a new helper that allows to reserve a pidfd and allocates a new
pidfd file that stashes the provided struct pid. This will allow us to
remove places that either open code this function or that call
pidfd_create() but then have to call close_fd() because there are still
failure points after pidfd_create() has been called.

10217da964 ALSA: pcm: Fix race of buffer access at PCM OSS layer
commit 93a81ca065 upstream.

The PCM OSS layer tries to clear the buffer with the silence data at
initialization (or reconfiguration) of a stream with the explicit call
of snd_pcm_format_set_silence() with runtime->dma_area. But this may
lead to a UAF because the accessed runtime->dma_area might be freed
concurrently, as it's performed outside the PCM ops.

For avoiding it, move the code into the PCM core and perform it inside
the buffer access lock, so that it won't be changed during the
operation.

a876703894 btrfs: correct the order of prelim_ref arguments in btrfs__prelim_ref
[ Upstream commit bc7e097509 ]

btrfs_prelim_ref() calls the old and new reference variables in the
incorrect order. This causes a NULL pointer dereference because oldref
is passed as NULL to trace_btrfs_prelim_ref_insert().

Note, trace_btrfs_prelim_ref_insert() is being called with newref as
oldref (and oldref as NULL) on purpose in order to print out
the values of newref.

To reproduce:
echo 1 > /sys/kernel/debug/tracing/events/btrfs/btrfs_prelim_ref_insert/enable

Perform some writeback operations.

85a8dfc772 drm/atomic: clarify the rules around drm_atomic_state->allow_modeset
[ Upstream commit c5e3306a42 ]

msm is automagically upgrading normal commits to full modesets, and
that's a big no-no:

- for one this results in full on->off->on transitions on all these
  crtc, at least if you're using the usual helpers. Which seems to be
  the case, and is breaking uapi

- further even if the ctm change itself would not result in flicker,
  this can hide modesets for other reasons. Which again breaks the
  uapi

v2: I forgot the case of adding unrelated crtc state. Add that case
and link to the existing kerneldoc explainers. This has come up in an
irc discussion with Manasi and Ville about intel's bigjoiner mode.
Also cc everyone involved in the msm irc discussion, more people
joined after I sent out v1.
