When creating a fence for a tiled object, only fence the area that
makes up the actual tiles. The object may be larger than the tiled
area and if we allow those extra addresses to be fenced, they'll
get converted to addresses beyond where the object is mapped. This
opens up the possiblity of writes beyond the end of object.
To prevent this, we adjust the size of the fence to only encompass
the area that makes up the actual tiles. The extra space is considered
un-tiled and now behaves as if it was a linear object.

commit c4d69da167 upstream.
Running igt, I was encountering the invalid TLB bug on my 845g, despite
that it was using the CS workaround. Examining the w/a buffer in the
error state, showed that the copy from the user batch into the
workaround itself was suffering from the invalid TLB bug (the first
cacheline was broken with the first two words reversed). Time to try a
fresh approach. This extends the workaround to write into each page of
our scratch buffer in order to overflow the TLB and evict the invalid
entries. This could be refined to only do so after we update the GTT,
but for simplicity, we do it before each batch.
I suspect this supersedes our current workaround, but for safety keep
doing both.
v2: The magic number shall be 2.
This doesn't conclusively prove that it is the mythical TLB bug we've
been trying to workaround for so long, that it requires touching a number
of pages to prevent the corruption indicates to me that it is TLB
related, but the corruption (the reversed cacheline) is more subtle than
a TLB bug, where we would expect it to read the wrong page entirely.
Oh well, it prevents a reliable hang for me and so probably for others
as well.

The flip stall detector kicks in when pending>=INTEL_FLIP_COMPLETE. That
means if we first call intel_prepare_page_flip() but don't call
intel_finish_page_flip(), the next stall check will erroneosly think
the page flip was somehow stuck.
With enough debug spew emitted from the interrupt handler my 830 hangs
when this happens. My theory is that the previous vblank interrupt gets
sufficiently delayed that the handler will see the pending bit set in
IIR, but ISR still has the bit set as well (ie. the flip was processed
by CS but didn't complete yet). In this case the handler will proceed
to call intel_check_page_flip() immediately after
intel_prepare_page_flip(). It then tries to print a backtrace for the
stuck flip WARN, which apparetly results in way too much debug spew
delaying interrupt processing further. That then seems to cause an
endless loop in the interrupt handler, and the machine is dead until
the watchdog kicks in and reboots. At least limiting the number of
iterations of the loop in the interrupt handler also prevented the
hang.
So it seems better to not call intel_prepare_page_flip() without
immediately calling intel_finish_page_flip(). The IIR/ISR trickery
avoids races here so this is a perfectly safe thing to do.

irq_mask should include all IRQ bits that we want to mask, but atm we
set it incorrectly to the inverse of this. If the mask is used
subsequently to enable/disable some IRQ bits, we may unintentionally
unmask unrelated IRQs. I can't see any way that this can lead to a real
problem in the current -nightly code, since the first place the mask
will be used next (after a suspend/resume cycle) is in
valleyview_irq_postinstall(), but the mask is reset there to its proper
value.
This causes a problem in the upstream kernel though, where - due to another
issue - the mask is used in the above way to disable only the display IRQs.

Interestingly, even with the above two bugs, we shouldn't in theory have
any real problems (arguably a famous last sentence:). That's because
even if we unmask something unintentionally via the VLV_IMR/VLV_IER
register the master IRQ masking bit in VLV_MASTER_IER is still set and
should prevent all i915 interrupts. According to my testing on an ASUS
T100 with DSI output this isn't the case at least with the
MIPIA_INTERRUPT. Leaving this one unmasked in IMR/IER, while having
VLV_MASTER_IER set to 0 may lead to a lockup during system suspend as
shown in the bugzilla ticket below. This fix should get rid of the

Well, ttm code wants to process 512 pages at a time for performance.
Memory footprint increased by 512 * sizeof(struct page *) buffer is
only 4096 bytes. What about using static buffer like below?

Subject: [PATCH] drm/ttm: Avoid memory allocation from shrinker functions.
Commit a91576d791 ("drm/ttm: Pass GFP flags in order to avoid
deadlock.") caused BUG_ON() due to sc->gfp_mask containing flags
which are not in GFP_KERNEL.
https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=87891
Changing from sc->gfp_mask to (sc->gfp_mask & GFP_KERNEL) would
avoid the BUG_ON(), but avoiding memory allocation from shrinker
function is better and reliable fix.
Shrinker function is already serialized by global lock, and
clean up function is called after shrinker function is unregistered.
Thus, we can use static buffer when called from shrinker function
and clean up function.

for example on the Toshiba CB35 or Lenovo T400, so log a debug message
instead of a warning if the backlight is unexpectedly enabled.

commit b68362278a upstream.
Apparently PCH fifo underruns are tricky, we have plenty reports that
we see the occasional underrun (especially at boot-up).
So for a change let's see what happens when we don't re-enable pch
fifo underrun reporting when the pipe is disabled. This means that the
kernel can't catch pch fifo underruns when they happen (except when
all pipes are on on the pch). But we'll still catch underruns when
disabling the pipe again. So not a terrible reduction in test
coverage.
Since the DRM_ERROR is new and hence a regression plan B would be to
revert it back to a debug output. Which would be a lot worse than this
hack for underrun test coverage in the wild. See the referenced
discussions for more.

Indications are that no GF116's actually have a copy engine there, but
actually have the decompression engine. This engine can be made to do
copies, but that should be done separately.
Unclear why this didn't turn up on all GF116's, but perhaps the
non-mobile ones came with enough VRAM to not trigger ttm migrations in
test scenarios.

If ddc fails, presumably the i2c mux (and hopefully the signal

the vbios so that the connector reports disconnected.

commit bdfa7542d4 upstream.
During a GPU reset we need to get pending page flip cleared out
since the ring contents are gone and flip will never complete
on its own. This used to work until the mmio vs. CS flip race
detection came about. That piece of code is looking for a
specific surface address in the SURFLIVE register, but as
a flip to that address may never happen the check may never
pass. So we should just skip the SURFLIVE and flip counter
checks when the GPU gets reset.
intel_display_handle_reset() tries to effectively complete
the flip anyway by calling .update_primary_plane(). But that
may not satisfy the conditions of the mmio vs. CS race
detection since there's no guarantee that a modeset didn't
sneak in between the GPU reset and intel_display_handle_reset().
Such a modeset will not wait for pending flips due to the ongoing GPU
reset, and then the primary plane updates performed by
intel_display_handle_reset() will already use the new surface
address, and thus the surface address the flip is waiting for
might never appear in SURFLIVE. The result is that the flip
will never complete and attempts to perform further page flips
will fail with -EBUSY.
During the GPU reset intel_crtc_has_pending_flip() will return
false regardless, so the deadlock with a modeset vs. the error
work acquiring crtc->mutex was avoided. And the reset_counter
check in intel_crtc_has_pending_flip() actually made this bug
even less severe since it allowed normal modesets to go through
even though there's a pending flip.
This is a regression introduced by me here:

commit 91ed6fd2c3 upstream.
Some radeon ASICs don't support all 64 address bits of MSIs despite
advertising support for 64-bit MSIs in their configuration space.
This breaks on systems such as IBM POWER7/8, where 64-bit MSIs can
be assigned with some of the high address bits set.
This makes use of the newly introduced "no_64bit_msi" flag in structure
pci_dev to allow the MSI allocation code to fallback to 32-bit MSIs
on those adapters.
