cd95f113f0 cfg80211: reg: Init wiphy_idx in regulatory_hint_core()
commit 24f33e64fc upstream.

Core regulatory hints didn't set wiphy_idx to WIPHY_IDX_INVALID. Since
the regulatory request is zeroed, wiphy_idx was always implicitly set to
0. This resulted in updating only phy #0.
Fix that.

760eb5ddc9 cfg80211: nl80211_update_ft_ies() to validate NL80211_ATTR_IE
commit 4f0223bfe9 upstream.

nl80211_update_ft_ies() tried to validate NL80211_ATTR_IE with
is_valid_ie_attr() before dereferencing it, but that helper function
returns true in case of NULL pointer (i.e., attribute not included).
This can result to dereferencing a NULL pointer. Fix that by explicitly
checking that NL80211_ATTR_IE is included.

f69083b119 cfg80211: initialize sinfo in cfg80211_get_station
commit 3c12d04868 upstream.

Most of the implementations behind cfg80211_get_station will not initialize
sinfo to zero before manipulating it. For example, the member "filled",
which indicates the filled in parts of this struct, is often only modified
by enabling certain bits in the bitfield while keeping the remaining bits
in their original state. A caller without a preinitialized sinfo.filled can
then no longer decide which parts of sinfo were filled in by
cfg80211_get_station (or actually the underlying implementations).

cfg80211_get_station must therefore take care that sinfo is initialized to
zero. Otherwise, the caller may tries to read information which was not
filled in and which must therefore also be considered uninitialized. In
batadv_v_elp_get_throughput's case, an invalid "random" expected throughput
may be stored for this neighbor and thus the B.A.T.M.A.N V algorithm may
switch to non-optimal neighbors for certain destinations.

c270bd1cc6 nl80211: Sanitize array index in parse_txq_params
commit 259d8c1e98 upstream.

Wireless drivers rely on parse_txq_params to validate that txq_params->ac
is less than NL80211_NUM_ACS by the time the low-level driver's ->conf_tx()
handler is called. Use a new helper, array_index_nospec(), to sanitize
txq_params->ac with respect to speculation. I.e. ensure that any
speculation into ->conf_tx() handlers is done with a value of
txq_params->ac that is within the bounds of [0, NL80211_NUM_ACS).

04066350ba cfg80211: check dev_set_name() return value
commit 59b179b48c upstream.

syzbot reported a warning from rfkill_alloc(), and after a while
I think that the reason is that it was doing fault injection and

56a927d593 nl80211: don't expose wdev->ssid for most interfaces
commit 44905265bc upstream.

For mesh, this is simply wrong - there's no SSID, only the
mesh ID, so don't expose it at all.
For (P2P) client, it's wrong, because it exposes an internal
value that's only used when certain APIs are used.
For AP, it's actually the only correct case, so leave that.
All other interface types shouldn't be setting this anyway,
so there it won't change anything.

007a7c2af4 nl80211: Define policy for packet pattern attributes
commit ad670233c9 upstream.

Define a policy for packet pattern attributes in order to fix a
potential read over the end of the buffer during nla_get_u32()
of the NL80211_PKTPAT_OFFSET attribute.

Note that the data there can always be read due to SKB allocation
(with alignment and struct skb_shared_info at the end), but the
data might be uninitialized. This could be used to leak some data
from uninitialized vmalloc() memory, but most drivers don't allow
an offset (so you'd just get -EINVAL if the data is non-zero) or
just allow it with a fixed value - 100 or 128 bytes, so anything
above that would get -EINVAL. With brcmfmac the limit is 1500 so
(at least) one byte could be obtained.

2204ce849e mac80211: strictly check mesh address extension mode

Mesh forwarding path checks for address extension mode to fetch

851050f1a9 cfg80211/mac80211: fix BSS leaks when abandoning assoc attempts
commit e6f462df9a upstream.

When mac80211 abandons an association attempt, it may free
all the data structures, but inform cfg80211 and userspace
about it only by sending the deauth frame it received, in
which case cfg80211 has no link to the BSS struct that was
used and will not cfg80211_unhold_bss() it.

Fix this by providing a way to inform cfg80211 of this with
the BSS entry passed, so that it can clean up properly, and
use this ability in the appropriate places in mac80211.

This isn't ideal: some code is more or less duplicated and
tracing is missing. However, it's a fairly small change and
it's thus easier to backport - cleanups can come later.

a78748b4a7 cfg80211: limit scan results cache size
commit 9853a55ef1 upstream.

It's possible to make scanning consume almost arbitrary amounts
of memory, e.g. by sending beacon frames with random BSSIDs at
high rates while somebody is scanning.

Limit the number of BSS table entries we're willing to cache to
1000, limiting maximum memory usage to maybe 4-5MB, but lower
in practice - that would be the case for having both full-sized
beacon and probe response frames for each entry; this seems not
possible in practice, so a limit of 1000 entries will likely be
closer to 0.5 MB.

9e27e42146 nl80211: check netlink protocol in socket release notification
commit 8f815cdde3 upstream.

A non-privileged user can create a netlink socket with the same port_id as
used by an existing open nl80211 netlink socket (e.g. as used by a hostapd

Closing this socket will then lead to the notification going to nl80211's

603874c62e cfg80211/wext: fix message ordering
commit cb150b9d23 upstream.

Since cfg80211 frequently takes actions from its netdev notifier
call, wireless extensions messages could still be ordered badly
since the wext netdev notifier, since wext is built into the
kernel, runs before the cfg80211 netdev notifier. For example,
the following can happen:

5: wlan1: <BROADCAST,MULTICAST> mtu 1500 qdisc mq state DOWN group default
    link/ether 02:00:00:00:01:00 brd ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff
5: wlan1: <BROADCAST,MULTICAST,UP>
    link/ether

when setting the interface down causes the wext message.

To also fix this, export the wireless_nlevent_flush() function
and also call it from the cfg80211 notifier.

d809857aeb wext: fix message delay/ordering
commit 8bf862739a upstream.

Beniamino reported that he was getting an RTM_NEWLINK message for a
given interface, after the RTM_DELLINK for it. It turns out that the
message is a wireless extensions message, which was sent because the
interface had been connected and disconnection while it was deleted
caused a wext message.

For its netlink messages, wext uses RTM_NEWLINK, but the message is
without all the regular rtnetlink attributes, so "ip monitor link"
prints just rudimentary information:

5: wlan1: <BROADCAST,MULTICAST> mtu 1500 qdisc mq state DOWN group default
    link/ether 02:00:00:00:01:00 brd ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff
Deleted 5: wlan1: <BROADCAST,MULTICAST> mtu 1500 qdisc noop state DOWN group default
    link/ether 02:00:00:00:01:00 brd ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff
5: wlan1: <BROADCAST,MULTICAST,UP>
    link/ether
(from my hwsim reproduction)

This can cause userspace to get confused since it doesn't expect an
RTM_NEWLINK message after RTM_DELLINK.

The reason for this is that wext schedules a worker to send out the
messages, and the scheduling delay can cause the messages to get out
to userspace in different order.

To fix this, have wext register a netdevice notifier and flush out
any pending messages when netdevice state changes. This fixes any
ordering whenever the original message wasn't sent by a notifier
itself.

d42737ac34 cfg80211: wext: clear sinfo struct before calling driver
commit 9c5a18a31b upstream.

Until recently, mac80211 overwrote all the statistics it could
provide when getting called, but it now relies on the struct
having been zeroed by the caller. This was always the case in
nl80211, but wext used a static struct which could even cause
values from one device leak to another.

Using a static struct is OK (as even documented in a comment)
since the whole usage of this function and its return value is
always locked under RTNL. Not clearing the struct for calling
the driver has always been wrong though, since drivers were
free to only fill values they could report, so calling this
for one device and then for another would always have leaked
values from one to the other.

Fix this by initializing the structure in question before the
driver method call.

4adc33dc86 nl80211: ignore HT/VHT capabilities without QoS/WMM
commit 496fcc294d upstream.

As HT/VHT depend heavily on QoS/WMM, it's not a good idea to
let userspace add clients that have HT/VHT but not QoS/WMM.
Since it does so in certain cases we've observed (client is
using HT IEs but not QoS/WMM) just ignore the HT/VHT info at
this point and don't pass it down to the drivers which might
unconditionally use it.

eade3efe76 nl80211: fix per-station group key get/del and memory leak
commit 0fa7b39131 upstream.

In case userspace attempts to obtain key information for or delete a
unicast key, this is currently erroneously rejected unless the driver
sets the WIPHY_FLAG_IBSS_RSN flag. Apparently enough drivers do so it
was never noticed.

Fix that, and while at it fix a potential memory leak: the error path
in the get_key() function was placed after allocating a message but
didn't free it - move it to a better place. Luckily admin permissions

aaf5b838f3 nl80211: clear skb cb before passing to netlink
commit bd8c78e78d upstream.

In testmode and vendor command reply/event SKBs we use the
skb cb data to store nl80211 parameters between allocation
and sending. This causes the code for CONFIG_NETLINK_MMAP
to get confused, because it takes ownership of the skb cb
data when the SKB is handed off to netlink, and it doesn't
explicitly clear it.

Clear the skb cb explicitly when we're done and before it
gets passed to netlink to avoid this issue.

67af981153 cfg80211: allow RSSI compensation
Channels in 2.4GHz band overlap, this means that if we
send a probe request on channel 1 and then move to channel
2, we will hear the probe response on channel 2. In this
case, the RSSI will be lower than if we had heard it on
the channel on which it was sent (1 in this case).

The firmware / low level driver can parse the channel in
the DS IE or HT IE and compensate the RSSI so that it will
still have a valid value even if we heard the frame on an
adjacent channel. This can be done up to a certain offset.

Add this offset as a configuration for the low level driver.
A low level driver that can compensate the low RSSI in this
case should assign the maximal offset for which the RSSI
value is still valid.
