f8f08fba92 regmap-i2c: Subtract reg size from max_write
[ Upstream commit 611b7eb19d ]

Currently, when an adapter defines a max_write_len quirk,
the data will be chunked into data sizes equal to the
max_write_len quirk value. But the payload will be increased by
the size of the register address before transmission. The
resulting value always ends up larger than the limit set
by the quirk.

Avoid this error by setting regmap's max_write to the quirk's
max_write_len minus the number of bytes for the register and
padding. This allows the chunking to work correctly for this
limited case without impacting other use-cases.

31642219f2 regmap: Add bulk read/write callbacks into regmap_config
[ Upstream commit d77e745613 ]

Currently the regmap_config structure only allows the user to implement
single element register read/write using .reg_read/.reg_write callbacks.
The regmap_bus already implements bulk counterparts of both, and is being
misused as a workaround for the missing bulk read/write callbacks in
regmap_config by a couple of drivers. To stop this misuse, add the bulk
read/write callbacks to regmap_config and call them from the regmap core
code.

fbddd48f14 regmap: allow to define reg_update_bits for no bus configuration
[ Upstream commit 02d6fdecb9 ]

Some device requires a special handling for reg_update_bits and can't use
the normal regmap read write logic. An example is when locking is
handled by the device and rmw operations requires to do atomic operations.
Allow to declare a dedicated function in regmap_config for

d91fb1b7b7 regmap: fix bogus error on regcache_sync success
commit fea8806444 upstream.

Since commit 0ec7731655 ("regmap: Ensure range selector registers
are updated after cache sync") opening pcm512x based soundcards fail
with EINVAL and dmesg shows sync cache and pm_runtime_get errors:

[  228.794676] pcm512x 1-004c: Failed to sync cache: -22
[  228.794740] pcm512x 1-004c: ASoC: error at snd_soc_pcm_component_pm_runtime_get on pcm512x.1-004c: -22

This is caused by the cache check result leaking out into the
regcache_sync return value.

Fix this by making the check local-only, as the comment above the
regcache_read call states a non-zero return value means there's
nothing to do so the return value should not be altered.

63e09cdfe9 regmap: Ensure range selector registers are updated after cache sync
[ Upstream commit 0ec7731655 ]

When we sync the register cache we do so with the cache bypassed in order
to avoid overhead from writing the synced values back into the cache. If
the regmap has ranges and the selector register for those ranges is in a
register which is cached this has the unfortunate side effect of meaning
that the physical and cached copies of the selector register can be out of
sync after a cache sync. The cache will have whatever the selector was when
the sync started and the hardware will have the selector for the register
that was synced last.

Fix this by rewriting all cached selector registers after every sync,
ensuring that the hardware and cache have the same content. This will
result in extra writes that wouldn't otherwise be needed but is simple
so hopefully robust. We don't read from the hardware since not all
devices have physical read support.

Given that nobody noticed this until now it is likely that we are rarely if
ever hitting this case.

bb6aee0696 regmap: rbtree: Fix wrong register marked as in-cache when creating new node
[ Upstream commit 7a795ac8d4 ]

When regcache_rbtree_write() creates a new rbtree_node it was passing the
wrong bit number to regcache_rbtree_set_register(). The bit number is the
offset __in number of registers__, but in the case of creating a new block
regcache_rbtree_write() was not dividing by the address stride to get the
number of registers.

Fix this by dividing by map->reg_stride.
Compare with regcache_rbtree_read() where the bit is checked.

This bug meant that the wrong register was marked as present. The register
that was written to the cache could not be read from the cache because it
was not marked as cached. But a nearby register could be marked as having
a cached value even if it was never written to the cache.

1484537876 regmap: Account for register length in SMBus I/O limits
commit 0c9d2eb5e9 upstream.

The SMBus I2C buses have limits on the size of transfers they can do but
do not factor in the register length meaning we may try to do a transfer
longer than our length limit, the core will not take care of this.
Future changes will factor this out into the core but there are a number
of users that assume current behaviour so let's just do something
conservative here.

This does not take account padding bits but practically speaking these
are very rarely if ever used on I2C buses given that they generally run
slowly enough to mean there's no issue.

commit bc64734825 upstream.

When problems were noticed with the register address not being taken
into account when limiting raw transfers with I2C devices we fixed this
in the core. Unfortunately it has subsequently been realised that a lot
of buses were relying on the prior behaviour, partly due to unclear
documentation not making it obvious what was intended in the core. This
is all more involved to fix than is sensible for a fix commit so let's
just drop the original fixes, a separate commit will fix the originally
observed problem in an I2C specific way

The max_raw_write member of the regmap_spi_avmm_bus structure is defined

SPI_AVMM_VAL_SIZE == 4 and MAX_WRITE_CNT == 1 so this results in a
maximum write transfer size of 4 bytes which provides only enough space to
transfer the address of the target register. It provides no space for the
value to be transferred. This bug became an issue (divide-by-zero in
_regmap_raw_write()) after the following was accepted into mainline:

commit 3981514180 ("regmap: Account for register length when chunking")

Change max_raw_write to include space (4 additional bytes) for both the

d99dcdabc5 regmap-irq: Update interrupt clear register for proper reset
[ Upstream commit d04ad245d6 ]

With the existing logic where clear_ack is true (HW doesn’t support
auto clear for ICR), interrupt clear register reset is not handled
properly. Due to this only the first interrupts get processed properly
and further interrupts are blocked due to not resetting interrupt
clear register.

Example for issue case where Invert_ack is false and clear_ack is true:

    Say Default ISR=0x00 & ICR=0x00 and ISR is triggered with 2
    interrupts making ISR = 0x11.

    Step 1: Say ISR is set 0x11 (store status_buff = ISR). ISR needs to
            be cleared with the help of ICR once the Interrupt is processed.

    Step 2: Write ICR = 0x11 (status_buff), this will clear the ISR to 0x00.

    Step 3: Issue - In the existing code, ICR is written with ICR =
            ~(status_buff) i.e ICR = 0xEE -> This will block all the interrupts
            from raising except for interrupts 0 and 4. So expectation here is to
            reset ICR, which will unblock all the interrupts.

            if (chip->clear_ack) {
                 if (chip->ack_invert && !ret)
                  ........
                 else if (!ret)
                     ret = regmap_write(map, reg,
                            ~data->status_buf[i]);

So writing 0 and 0xff (when ack_invert is true) should have no effect, other
than clearing the ACKs just set.

In the attempt to fix the memory leak, the above commit added a NULL check
for map->debugfs_name. For the first debufs entry, map->debugfs_name is NULL
and then the new name is allocated via kasprintf().

For the second debugfs entry, map->debugfs_name() is no longer NULL, so
it will keep using the old entry name and the duplicate name error is seen.

Quoting Mark Brown:

"That means that if the device gets freed we'll end up with the old debugfs
file hanging around pointing at nothing.
...
To be more explicit this means we need a call to regmap_debugfs_exit()
which will clean up all the existing debugfs stuff before we loose

the problem.

regmap: Fix possible double-free in regcache_rbtree_exit()
In regcache_rbtree_insert_to_block(), when 'present' realloc failed,
the 'blk' which is supposed to assign to 'rbnode->block' will be freed,
so 'rbnode->block' points a freed memory, in the error handling path of
regcache_rbtree_init(), 'rbnode->block' will be freed again in
regcache_rbtree_exit(), KASAN will report double-free as follows:

BUG: KASAN: double-free or invalid-free in kfree+0xce/0x390

Merge series "Use raw spinlocks in the ls-extirq driver" from Vladimir Oltean <vladimir.oltean@nxp.com>:
The ls-extirq irqchip driver accesses regmap inside its implementation
of the struct irq_chip :: irq_set_type method, and currently regmap
only knows to lock using normal spinlocks. But the method above wants
raw spinlock context, so this isn't going to work and triggers a
"[ BUG: Invalid wait context ]" splat.

The best we can do given the arrangement of the code is to patch regmap
and the syscon driver: regmap to support raw spinlocks, and syscon to
request them on behalf of its ls-extirq consumer.

regmap: teach regmap to use raw spinlocks if requested in the config
Some drivers might access regmap in a context where a raw spinlock is
held. An example is drivers/irqchip/irq-ls-extirq.c, which calls
regmap_update_bits() from struct irq_chip :: irq_set_type, which is a
method called by __irq_set_trigger() under the desc->lock raw spin lock.

Since desc->lock is a raw spin lock and the regmap internal lock for
mmio is a plain spinlock (which can become sleepable on RT), this is an
invalid locking scheme and we get a splat stating that this is a
"[ BUG: Invalid wait context ]".

It seems reasonable for regmap to have an option use a raw spinlock too,
so add that in the config such that drivers can request it.

regmap: allow const array for {devm_,}regmap_field_bulk_alloc reg_fields
The reg_fields array fed to {devm_}regmap_field_bulk_alloc is currently
not const, which is not correct on semantics (the functions shouldn't
change reg_field contents) and prevents pre-defined const reg_field

As the implementation of this function doesn't change the content of it,

Merge series "RTL8231 GPIO expander support" from Sander Vanheule <sander@svanheule.net>:
The RTL8231 GPIO and LED expander can be configured for use as an MDIO or SMI
bus device. Currently only the MDIO mode is supported, although SMI mode
support should be fairly straightforward, once an SMI bus driver is available.

Provided features by the RTL8231:
  - Up to 37 GPIOs
    - Configurable drive strength: 8mA or 4mA (currently unsupported)
    - Input debouncing on high GPIOs (currently unsupported)
  - Up to 88 LEDs in multiple scan matrix groups
    - On, off, or one of six toggling intervals
    - "single-color mode": 2×36 single color LEDs + 8 bi-color LEDs
    - "bi-color mode": (12 + 2×6) bi-color LEDs + 24 single color LEDs
  - Up to one PWM output (currently unsupported)
    - Fixed duty cycle, 8 selectable frequencies (1.2kHz - 4.8kHz)

Register access is provided through a new MDIO regmap provider. The GPIO
controller uses gpio-regmap, although a patch is required to support a
limitation of the chip.

There remain some log warnings when probing the device, possibly due to the way
I'm using the MFD subsystem. Would it be possible to avoid these?

regmap-irq: Extend sub-irq to support non-fixed reg strides
Qualcomm's MFD chips have a top level interrupt status register and
sub-irqs (peripherals). When a bit in the main status register goes
high, it means that the peripheral corresponding to that bit has an
unserviced interrupt. If the bit is not set, this means that the
corresponding peripheral does not.

Commit a2d21848d9 ("regmap: regmap-irq: Add main status register
support") introduced the sub-irq logic that is currently applied only
when reading status registers, but not for any other functions like acking
or masking. Extend the use of sub-irq to all other functions, with two
caveats regarding the specification of offsets:

- Each member of the sub_reg_offsets array should be of length 1
- The specified offsets should be the unequal strides for each sub-irq
  device.

In QCOM's case, all the *_base registers are to be configured to the
base addresses of the first sub-irq group, with offsets of each
subsequent group calculated as a difference from these addresses.

Continuing from the example mentioned in the cover letter:

	/*
	 * Address of MISC_INT_MASK		= 0x1011
	 * Address of TEMP_ALARM_INT_MASK	= 0x2011
	 * Address of GPIO01_INT_MASK		= 0x3011
	 *
	 * Calculate offsets as:
	 * offset_0 = 0x1011 - 0x1011 = 0       (to access MISC's
	 * 					 registers)
	 * offset_1 = 0x2011 - 0x1011 = 0x1000
	 * offset_2 = 0x3011 - 0x1011 = 0x2000
	 */

	static unsigned int sub_unit0_offsets[] = {0};
	static unsigned int sub_unit1_offsets[] = {0x1000};
	static unsigned int sub_unit2_offsets[] = {0x2000};

	static struct regmap_irq_sub_irq_map chip_sub_irq_offsets[] = {
		REGMAP_IRQ_MAIN_REG_OFFSET(sub_unit0_offsets),

e229b429bb Char/Misc driver patches for 5.12-rc1
Here is the large set of char/misc/whatever driver subsystem updates for
 5.12-rc1. Over time it seems like this tree is collecting more and more
 tiny driver subsystems in one place, making it easier for those
 maintainers, which is why this is getting larger.

 Included in here are:
 	- coresight driver updates
 	- habannalabs driver updates
 	- virtual acrn driver addition (proper acks from the x86
 	  maintainers)
 	- broadcom misc driver addition
 	- speakup driver updates
 	- soundwire driver updates
 	- fpga driver updates
 	- amba driver updates
 	- mei driver updates
 	- vfio driver updates
 	- greybus driver updates
 	- nvmeem driver updates
 	- phy driver updates
 	- mhi driver updates
 	- interconnect driver udpates
 	- fsl-mc bus driver updates
 	- random driver fix
 	- some small misc driver updates (rtsx, pvpanic, etc.)

 All of these have been in linux-next for a while, with the only reported
 issue being a merge conflict in include/linux/mod_devicetable.h that you
 will hit in your tree due to the dfl_device_id addition from the fpga
 subsystem in here. The resolution should be simple.

d288a5712e regmap: sdw: use _no_pm functions in regmap_read/write
sdw_update_slave_status will be invoked when a codec is attached,
and the codec driver will initialize the codec with regmap functions
while the codec device is pm_runtime suspended.

regmap routines currently rely on regular SoundWire IO functions,
which will call pm_runtime_get_sync()/put_autosuspend.

This causes a deadlock where the resume routine waits for an
initialization complete signal that while the initialization complete
can only be reached when the resume completes.

The only solution if we allow regmap functions to be used in resume
operations as well as during codec initialization is to use _no_pm
routines. The duty of making sure the bus is operational needs to be
handled above the regmap level.

regmap: debugfs: Fix a reversed if statement in regmap_debugfs_init()
This code will leak "map->debugfs_name" because the if statement is
reversed so it only frees NULL pointers instead of non-NULL. In
fact the if statement is not required and should just be removed
because kfree() accepts NULL pointers.

a45f1d4331 regmap: Updates for v5.11
This is quite a busy release for regmap with two substantial features
 being added:

  - Support for register maps Soundwire 1.2 multi-byte operations,
    allowing atomic support for registers larger than a single byte.
  - Support for relaxed I/O without barriers in MMIO regmaps, allowing
    them to be used efficiently on systems where default MMIO operations
    include barriers.

 There was also an addition and revert of use of the new Soundwire
 support for RT715 due to build issues with the driver built in, my tests
 only covered building it as a module, the patch wasn't just dropped as
 it had already been merged elsewhere.
