ba2f156eaa null_blk: fix UBSAN shift-out-of-bounds when zone_size is 0 or overflows
commit 95491fb051 upstream.

null_zone_no() does sect >> ilog2(dev->zone_size_sects). When
zone_size_sects is 0, ilog2(0) returns -1, producing shift exponent -1
which UBSAN reports as shift-out-of-bounds.

  UBSAN: shift-out-of-bounds in drivers/block/null_blk/zoned.c:21:14
  shift exponent -1 is negative

Syzkaller triggers this by creating a zoned null_blk device via
configfs. The Call Trace shows configfs_write_iter in configfs/file.c
handling a write to power file, which calls nullb_device_power_store in
main.c, which calls null_add_dev in main.c, which calls add_disk in
genhd.c, which triggers partition scan via bdev_disk_changed in
partitions/core.c.

A zoned null_blk device with zone_size 0 should not be legal. Existing
code tries to reject it via is_power_of_2() check in zoned.c and
!zone_size check in main.c, but syzkaller can still reach
null_zone_no() with zone_size_sects 0 via two paths:

1. Direct 0 via configfs: zone_size attribute store in main.c has
NULLB_DEVICE_ATTR(zone_size, ulong, NULL) with no validation callback,
so echo 0 > zone_size succeeds before power store. If zoned is false
at power store time, the !zone_size check in main.c is skipped, and
later zoned set true leaves zone_size 0.

2. Large value overflow: mb_to_sects() in zoned.c does
(sector_t)mb * SZ_1M >> SECTOR_SHIFT which is mb * 2048. If mb is
1UL << 53 (9PB), mb * 2048 overflows 64-bit to 0. The value is
power-of-two so is_power_of_2() passes, but mb_to_sects() returns 0.

Check for zero zone_size explicitly in null_init_zoned_dev() in
zoned.c, returning -EINVAL with "must be non-zero power-of-two".
Check for zero zone_size_sects after mb_to_sects() conversion,
returning -EINVAL for overflow case. Keep defensive check in
null_zone_no() returning 0 for zero sectors to avoid shift out-of-bounds
even if  zero slips through.

This change should be safe because zone_size is set once in
null_init_zoned_dev() under device lock and never changes after, and 0
is never valid for a zoned device. Returning -EINVAL at init time fails
device creation early with clear error, while defensive return 0 in
null_zone_no() makes zoned command fail via offline zone check.
No new locking is introduced.

da926959bf rbd: Reset positive result codes to zero in object map update path
commit a6c4250b81 upstream.

In a reply message to an RBD request, a positive result code indicates
a data payload, which is not allowed for writes. While
rbd_osd_req_callback() already resets a positive result code for writes
to zero, rbd_object_map_callback() does not. This allows a corrupted
reply to an object map update to trigger the rbd_assert(*result < 0) in
__rbd_obj_handle_request(). This happens, because
rbd_object_map_callback() calls rbd_obj_handle_request() ->
__rbd_obj_handle_request() and passes this positive result code. From
__rbd_obj_handle_request(), rbd_obj_advance_write() is called, which
leaves the positive result code unchanged and returns true. Therefore,
the if(done && *result) branch is executed in __rbd_obj_handle_request()
and the assertion triggers.

This patch fixes the issue by adjusting the logic in the
rbd_object_map_callback() path. A positive result code for an object map
update is now reset to zero (similar to rbd_osd_req_callback()), and the
message is subsequently handled the same way as if the result code was
zero from the beginning. Additionally, a WARN_ON_ONCE() is added for
this case.

741a682535 drbd: reject data replies with an out-of-range payload size
commit bd910a7660 upstream.

recv_dless_read() receives a P_DATA_REPLY from a peer into the bio of an
outstanding read request. The peer-supplied payload length reaches it as
the signed int data_size, and two peer-controlled inputs can make it
negative. With a negotiated data-integrity-alg the digest length is
subtracted first, so a reply whose payload is smaller than the digest
underflows data_size. With no integrity algorithm (the default) data_size
is assigned from the unsigned h95/h100 wire length and drbdd() never
bounds it for a payload-carrying command, so a length above INT_MAX casts
it negative; this path needs no non-default feature. The bio receive loop
then computes expect = min_t(int, data_size, bv_len), which is negative,
and drbd_recv_all_warn(mapped, expect) receives with a size_t of SIZE_MAX
into the first mapped page.

The sibling receive path read_in_block() is not affected: it uses an
unsigned size and rejects it against DRBD_MAX_BIO_SIZE before receiving.
Reject a data reply whose size is negative after the optional digest
subtraction, covering both triggers.

Impact: a malicious or man-in-the-middle DRBD peer copies attacker-chosen
bytes past a bio page in the receiver, corrupting kernel memory. A node
that reads from its peer (a diskless node, or read-balancing to the peer)
is exposed in the default configuration; data-integrity-alg is not
required.

cf01aa6288 drbd: fix "LOGIC BUG" in drbd_al_begin_io_nonblock()
commit ab140365fb upstream.

Even though we check that we "should" be able to do lc_get_cumulative()
while holding the device->al_lock spinlock, it may still fail,
if some other code path decided to do lc_try_lock() with bad timing.

If that happened, we logged "LOGIC BUG for enr=...",
but still did not return an error.

The rest of the code now assumed that this request has references
for the relevant activity log extents.

The implcations are that during an active resync, mutual exclusivity of
resync versus application IO is not guaranteed. And a potential crash
at this point may not realizs that these extents could have been target
of in-flight IO and would need to be resynced just in case.

Also, once the request completes, it will give up activity log references it
does not even hold, which will trigger a BUG_ON(refcnt == 0) in lc_put().

Fix:

Do not crash the kernel for a condition that is harmless during normal
operation: also catch "e->refcnt == 0", not only "e == NULL"
when being noisy about "al_complete_io() called on inactive extent %u\n".

And do not try to be smart and "guess" whether something will work, then
be surprised when it does not.
Deal with the fact that it may or may not work. If it does not, remember a
possible "partially in activity log" state (only possible for requests that
cross extent boundaries), and return an error code from
drbd_al_begin_io_nonblock().

A latter call for the same request will then resume from where we left off.

5928ca551e rbd: check for EOD after exclusive lock is ensured to be held
commit bd3884a204 upstream.

Similar to commit 870611e487 ("rbd: get snapshot context after
exclusive lock is ensured to be held"), move the "beyond EOD" check
into the image request state machine so that it's performed after
exclusive lock is ensured to be held. This avoids various race
conditions which can arise when the image is shrunk under I/O (in
practice, mostly readahead). In one such scenario

    rbd_assert(objno < rbd_dev->object_map_size);

can be triggered if a close-to-EOD read gets queued right before the
shrink is initiated and the EOD check is performed against an outdated
mapping_size. After the resize is done on the server side and exclusive
lock is (re)acquired bringing along the new (now shrunk) object map, the
read starts going through the state machine and rbd_obj_may_exist() gets
invoked on an object that is out of bounds of rbd_dev->object_map array.

7f24094db7 floppy: fix for PAGE_SIZE != 4KB
commit 82d2048102 upstream.

For years I wondered why the floppy driver does not just work on
sparc64, e.g:

root@SUNW_375_0066:# disktype /dev/fd0
disktype: Can't open /dev/fd0: No such device or address

[ 525.341906] disktype: attempt to access beyond end of device
fd0: rw=0, sector=0, nr_sectors = 16 limit=8
[  525.341991] floppy: error 10 while reading block 0

Turns out floppy.c __floppy_read_block_0 tries to read one page for
the first test read to determine the disk size and thus fails if that
is greater than 4k. Adjust minimum MAX_DISK_SIZE to PAGE_SIZE to fix
floppy on sparc64 and likely all other PAGE_SIZE != 4KB configs.

Commit 87aac3a80a ("nbd: call nbd_config_put() before notifying the
waiter") moved nbd_config_put() to run before waking up the waiter in
recv_work, in order to ensure that nbd_start_device_ioctl() would not
be woken up while nbd->task_recv was still uncleared.

However, in nbd_start_device_ioctl(), after being woken up it explicitly
calls flush_workqueue() to make sure all current works are finished.
Therefore, there is no need to move the config put ahead of the wakeup.

Move nbd_config_put() to the end of recv_work, so that the reference is
held for the whole lifetime of the worker thread. This makes sure the
config cannot be freed while recv_work is still running, even if clear
+ reconfigure interleave.

In addition, we don't need to worry about recv_work dropping the last
nbd_put (which causes deadlock):

84ef8dd323 drbd: add missing kref_get in handle_write_conflicts
[ Upstream commit 00c9c9628b ]

With `two-primaries` enabled, DRBD tries to detect "concurrent" writes
and handle write conflicts, so that even if you write to the same sector
simultaneously on both nodes, they end up with the identical data once
the writes are completed.

In handling "superseeded" writes, we forgot a kref_get,
resulting in a premature drbd_destroy_device and use after free,
and further to kernel crashes with symptoms.

Relevance: No one should use DRBD as a random data generator, and apparently
all users of "two-primaries" handle concurrent writes correctly on layer up.
That is cluster file systems use some distributed lock manager,
and live migration in virtualization environments stops writes on one node
before starting writes on the other node.

Which means that other than for "test cases",
this code path is never taken in real life.

FYI, in DRBD 9, things are handled differently nowadays. We still detect
"write conflicts", but no longer try to be smart about them.
We decided to disconnect hard instead: upper layers must not submit concurrent
writes. If they do, that's their fault.

9620376f73 sunvdc: Balance device refcount in vdc_port_mpgroup_check
commit 63ce537246 upstream.

Using device_find_child() to locate a probed virtual-device-port node
causes a device refcount imbalance, as device_find_child() internally
calls get_device() to increment the device’s reference count before
returning its pointer. vdc_port_mpgroup_check() directly returns true
upon finding a matching device without releasing the reference via
put_device(). We should call put_device() to decrement refcount.

As comment of device_find_child() says, 'NOTE: you will need to drop
the reference with put_device() after use'.

Found by code review.

nbd_genl_connect() does not properly stop the device on certain
error paths after nbd_start_device() has been called. This causes
the error path to put nbd->config while recv_work continue to use
the config after putting it, leading to use-after-free in recv_work.

This patch moves nbd_start_device() after the backend file creation.

2499fa286f aoe: avoid potential deadlock at set_capacity
commit e169bd4fb2 upstream.

Move set_capacity() outside of the section procected by (&d->lock).
To avoid possible interrupt unsafe locking scenario:

                            [2] lock(&d->lock);
                            [3] lock(&bdev->bd_size_lock);
   <Interrupt>
[4]  lock(&d->lock);

  *** DEADLOCK ***

Where [1](&bdev->bd_size_lock) hold by zram_add()->set_capacity().
[2]lock(&d->lock) hold by aoeblk_gdalloc(). And aoeblk_gdalloc()
is trying to acquire [3](&bdev->bd_size_lock) at set_capacity() call.
In this situation an attempt to acquire [4]lock(&d->lock) from
aoecmd_cfg_rsp() will lead to deadlock.

So the simplest solution is breaking lock dependency
[2](&d->lock) -> [3](&bdev->bd_size_lock) by moving set_capacity()
outside.

ef0b5bbbed aoe: clean device rq_list in aoedev_downdev()
[ Upstream commit 7f90d45e57 ]

An aoe device's rq_list contains accepted block requests that are
waiting to be transmitted to the aoe target. This queue was added as
part of the conversion to blk_mq. However, the queue was not cleaned out
when an aoe device is downed which caused blk_mq_freeze_queue() to sleep
indefinitely waiting for those requests to complete, causing a hang. This
fix cleans out the queue before calling blk_mq_freeze_queue().

81565d0986 loop: properly send KOBJ_CHANGED uevent for disk device
commit e7bc0010ce upstream.

The original commit message and the wording "uncork" in the code comment
indicate that it is expected that the suppressed event instances are
automatically sent after unsuppressing.
This is not the case, instead they are discarded.
In effect this means that no "changed" events are emitted on the device
itself by default.
While each discovered partition does trigger a changed event on the
device, devices without partitions don't have any event emitted.

This makes udev miss the device creation and prompted workarounds in
userspace. See the linked util-linux/losetup bug.

Explicitly emit the events and drop the confusingly worded comments.

e3be8862d7 nbd: don't allow reconnect after disconnect

Following process can cause nbd_config UAF:

1) grab nbd_config temporarily;

2) nbd_genl_disconnect() flush all recv_work() and release the
initial reference:

  nbd_genl_disconnect
   nbd_disconnect_and_put
    nbd_disconnect
     flush_workqueue(nbd->recv_workq)
    if (test_and_clear_bit(NBD_RT_HAS_CONFIG_REF, ...))
     nbd_config_put
     -> due to step 1), reference is still not zero

3) nbd_genl_reconfigure() queue recv_work() again;

  nbd_genl_reconfigure
   config = nbd_get_config_unlocked(nbd)
   if (!config)
   -> succeed
   if (!test_bit(NBD_RT_BOUND, ...))
   -> succeed
   nbd_reconnect_socket
    queue_work(nbd->recv_workq, &args->work)

4) step 1) release the reference;

5) Finially, recv_work() will trigger UAF:

  recv_work
   nbd_config_put(nbd)
   -> nbd_config is freed
   atomic_dec(&config->recv_threads)
   -> UAF

Fix the problem by clearing NBD_RT_BOUND in nbd_genl_disconnect(), so
that nbd_genl_reconfigure() will fail.

6dea8e3de5 virtio-blk: don't keep queue frozen during system suspend
[ Upstream commit 7678abee08 ]

Commit 4ce6e2db00 ("virtio-blk: Ensure no requests in virtqueues before
deleting vqs.") replaces queue quiesce with queue freeze in virtio-blk's
PM callbacks. And the motivation is to drain inflight IOs before suspending.

block layer's queue freeze looks very handy, but it is also easy to cause
deadlock, such as, any attempt to call into bio_queue_enter() may run into
deadlock if the queue is frozen in current context. There are all kinds
of ->suspend() called in suspend context, so keeping queue frozen in the
whole suspend context isn't one good idea. And Marek reported lockdep
warning[1] caused by virtio-blk's freeze queue in virtblk_freeze().

[1] https://lore.kernel.org/linux-block/ca16370e-d646-4eee-b9cc-87277c89c43c@samsung.com/

Given the motivation is to drain in-flight IOs, it can be done by calling
freeze & unfreeze, meantime restore to previous behavior by keeping queue
quiesced during suspend.

6aa65cda93 zram: refuse to use zero sized block device as backing device
commit be48c412f6 upstream.

Patch series "zram: fix backing device setup issue", v2.

This series fixes two bugs of backing device setting:

- ZRAM should reject using a zero sized (or the uninitialized ZRAM
  device itself) as the backing device.
- Fix backing device leaking when removing a uninitialized ZRAM
  device.

This patch (of 2):

Setting a zero sized block device as backing device is pointless, and one
can easily create a recursive loop by setting the uninitialized ZRAM
device itself as its own backing device by (zram0 is uninitialized):

    echo /dev/zram0 > /sys/block/zram0/backing_dev

It's definitely a wrong config, and the module will pin itself, kernel
should refuse doing so in the first place.

By refusing to use zero sized device we avoided misuse cases including
this one above.

07b418d50c aoe: fix the potential use-after-free problem in more places
commit 6d6e54fc71 upstream.

For fixing CVE-2023-6270, f98364e926 ("aoe: fix the potential
use-after-free problem in aoecmd_cfg_pkts") makes tx() calling dev_put()
instead of doing in aoecmd_cfg_pkts(). It avoids that the tx() runs
into use-after-free.

Then Nicolai Stange found more places in aoe have potential use-after-free
problem with tx(). e.g. revalidate(), aoecmd_ata_rw(), resend(), probe()
and aoecmd_cfg_rsp(). Those functions also use aoenet_xmit() to push
packet to tx queue. So they should also use dev_hold() to increase the
refcnt of skb->dev.

On the other hand, moving dev_put() to tx() causes that the refcnt of
skb->dev be reduced to a negative value, because corresponding
dev_hold() are not called in revalidate(), aoecmd_ata_rw(), resend(),
probe(), and aoecmd_cfg_rsp(). This patch fixed this issue.

written to zero. In this case, the check in drbd_uuid_set_bm might refer
to the old value of device->ldev->md.uuid[UI_BITMAP] (before locking),
which allows an invalid value to pass the validity check, resulting in
inconsistency.

To address this issue, it is recommended to include the data validity
check within the locked section of the function. This modification
ensures that the value of device->ldev->md.uuid[UI_BITMAP] does not
change during the validation process, thereby maintaining its integrity.

This possible bug is found by an experimental static analysis tool
developed by our team. This tool analyzes the locking APIs to extract
function pairs that can be concurrently executed, and then analyzes the
instructions in the paired functions to identify possible concurrency
bugs including data races and atomicity violations.

4cf7e2a305 rbd: don't assume RBD_LOCK_STATE_LOCKED for exclusive mappings
commit 2237ceb71f upstream.

Every time a watch is reestablished after getting lost, we need to
update the cookie which involves quiescing exclusive lock. For this,
we transition from RBD_LOCK_STATE_LOCKED to RBD_LOCK_STATE_QUIESCING
roughly for the duration of rbd_reacquire_lock() call. If the mapping
is exclusive and I/O happens to arrive in this time window, it's failed
with EROFS (later translated to EIO) based on the wrong assumption in
rbd_img_exclusive_lock() -- "lock got released?" check there stopped
making sense with commit a2b1da0979 ("rbd: lock should be quiesced on
reacquire").

To make it worse, any such I/O is added to the acquiring list before
EROFS is returned and this sets up for violating rbd_lock_del_request()
precondition that the request is either on the running list or not on
any list at all -- see commit ded080c86b ("rbd: don't move requests
to the running list on errors"). rbd_lock_del_request() ends up
processing these requests as if they were on the running list which
screws up quiescing_wait completion counter and ultimately leads to

    rbd_assert(!completion_done(&rbd_dev->quiescing_wait));

being triggered on the next watch error.

cfc2304e5c rbd: don't assume rbd_is_lock_owner() for exclusive mappings
commit 3ceccb14f5 upstream.

Expanding on the previous commit, assuming that rbd_is_lock_owner()
always returns true (i.e. that we are either in RBD_LOCK_STATE_LOCKED
or RBD_LOCK_STATE_QUIESCING) if the mapping is exclusive is wrong too.
In case ceph_cls_set_cookie() fails, the lock would be temporarily
released even if the mapping is exclusive, meaning that we can end up
even in RBD_LOCK_STATE_UNLOCKED.

IOW, exclusive mappings are really "just" about disabling automatic
lock transitions (as documented in the man page), not about grabbing
the lock and holding on to it whatever it takes.

7dd09fa80b aoe: fix the potential use-after-free problem in aoecmd_cfg_pkts
[ Upstream commit f98364e926 ]

This patch is against CVE-2023-6270. The description of cve is:

  A flaw was found in the ATA over Ethernet (AoE) driver in the Linux
  kernel. The aoecmd_cfg_pkts() function improperly updates the refcnt on
  `struct net_device`, and a use-after-free can be triggered by racing
  between the free on the struct and the access through the `skbtxq`
  global queue. This could lead to a denial of service condition or
  potential code execution.

In aoecmd_cfg_pkts(), it always calls dev_put(ifp) when skb initial
code is finished. But the net_device ifp will still be used in
later tx()->dev_queue_xmit() in kthread. Which means that the
dev_put(ifp) should NOT be called in the success path of skb
initial code in aoecmd_cfg_pkts(). Otherwise tx() may run into
use-after-free because the net_device is freed.

This patch removed the dev_put(ifp) in the success path in
aoecmd_cfg_pkts(), and added dev_put() after skb xmit in tx().

b75b017b3f rbd: take header_rwsem in rbd_dev_refresh() only when updating
commit 0b207d02bd upstream.

rbd_dev_refresh() has been holding header_rwsem across header and
parent info read-in unnecessarily for ages. With commit 870611e487
("rbd: get snapshot context after exclusive lock is ensured to be
held"), the potential for deadlocks became much more real owning to
a) header_rwsem now nesting inside lock_rwsem and b) rw_semaphores
not allowing new readers after a writer is registered.

For example, assuming that I/O request 1, I/O request 2 and header
read-in request all target the same OSD:

1. I/O request 1 comes in and gets submitted
2. watch error occurs
3. rbd_watch_errcb() takes lock_rwsem for write, clears owner_cid and
   releases lock_rwsem
4. after reestablishing the watch, rbd_reregister_watch() calls
   rbd_dev_refresh() which takes header_rwsem for write and submits
   a header read-in request
5. I/O request 2 comes in: after taking lock_rwsem for read in
   __rbd_img_handle_request(), it blocks trying to take header_rwsem
   for read in rbd_img_object_requests()
6. another watch error occurs
7. rbd_watch_errcb() blocks trying to take lock_rwsem for write
8. I/O request 1 completion is received by the messenger but can't be
   processed because lock_rwsem won't be granted anymore
9. header read-in request completion can't be received, let alone
   processed, because the messenger is stranded

Change rbd_dev_refresh() to take header_rwsem only for actually
updating rbd_dev->header. Header and parent info read-in don't need
any locking.
