commit f956052e00 upstream.
font.data may not initialize all memory spaces depending on the implementation
of vc->vc_sw->con_font_get. This may cause info-leak, so to prevent this, it
is safest to modify it to initialize the allocated memory space to 0, and it
generally does not affect the overall performance of the system.

Commit af224ca2df (serial: core: Prevent unsafe uart port access, part
3) added few uport == NULL checks. It added one to uart_shutdown(), so
the commit assumes, uport can be NULL in there. But right after that
protection, there is an unprotected "uart_port_dtr_rts(uport, false);"
call. That is invoked only if HUPCL is set, so I assume that is the
reason why we do not see lots of these reports.
Or it cannot be NULL at this point at all for some reason :P.
Until the above is investigated, stay on the safe side and move this
dereference to the if too.
I got this inconsistency from Coverity under CID 1585130. Thanks.

When sending data using DMA at high baudrate (4 Mbdps in local test case) to
a device with small RX buffer which keeps asserting RTS after every received
byte, it is possible that the iMX UART driver would not recognize the falling
edge of RTS input signal and get stuck, unable to transmit any more data.
This condition happens when the following sequence of events occur:
- imx_uart_mctrl_check() is called at some point and takes a snapshot of UART
control signal status into sport->old_status using imx_uart_get_hwmctrl().
The RTSS/TIOCM_CTS bit is of interest here (*).
- DMA transfer occurs, the remote device asserts RTS signal after each byte.
The i.MX UART driver recognizes each such RTS signal change, raises an
interrupt with USR1 register RTSD bit set, which leads to invocation of
__imx_uart_rtsint(), which calls uart_handle_cts_change().
- If the RTS signal is deasserted, uart_handle_cts_change() clears
port->hw_stopped and unblocks the port for further data transfers.
- If the RTS is asserted, uart_handle_cts_change() sets port->hw_stopped
and blocks the port for further data transfers. This may occur as the
last interrupt of a transfer, which means port->hw_stopped remains set
and the port remains blocked (**).
- Any further data transfer attempts will trigger imx_uart_mctrl_check(),
which will read current status of UART control signals by calling
imx_uart_get_hwmctrl() (***) and compare it with sport->old_status .
- If current status differs from sport->old_status for RTS signal,
uart_handle_cts_change() is called and possibly unblocks the port
by clearing port->hw_stopped .
- If current status does not differ from sport->old_status for RTS
signal, no action occurs. This may occur in case prior snapshot (*)
was taken before any transfer so the RTS is deasserted, current
snapshot (***) was taken after a transfer and therefore RTS is
deasserted again, which means current status and sport->old_status
are identical. In case (**) triggered when RTS got asserted, and
made port->hw_stopped set, the port->hw_stopped will remain set
because no change on RTS line is recognized by this driver and
uart_handle_cts_change() is not called from here to unblock the
port->hw_stopped.
Update sport->old_status in __imx_uart_rtsint() accordingly to make
imx_uart_mctrl_check() detect such RTS change. Note that TIOCM_CAR
and TIOCM_RI bits in sport->old_status do not suffer from this problem.

The write to RP2_GLOBAL_CMD followed by an immediate read of
RP2_GLOBAL_CMD in rp2_reset_asic() is intented to flush out the write,
however by then the device is already in reset and cannot respond to a
memory cycle access.
On platforms such as the Raspberry Pi 4 and others using the
pcie-brcmstb.c driver, any memory access to a device that cannot respond
is met with a fatal system error, rather than being substituted with all
1s as is usually the case on PC platforms.
Swapping the delay and the read ensures that the device has finished

At the default TX trigger level of 2 in non-DMA mode (meaning that an
interrupt is generated when less than 2 characters are left in the
FIFO), we have observed frequent buffer underruns at 115200 Baud on an
i.MX8M Nano. This can cause communication issues if the receiving side
expects a continuous transfer.
Increasing the level to 8 makes the UART trigger an interrupt earlier,
giving the kernel enough time to refill the FIFO, at the cost of
triggering one interrupt per ~24 instead of ~30 bytes of transmitted
data (as the i.MX UART has a 32 byte FIFO).

When using a high speed clock with a low baud rate, the 4x prescaler is
automatically selected if required. In that case, sc16is7xx_set_baud()
properly configures the chip registers, but returns an incorrect baud
rate by not taking into account the prescaler value. This incorrect baud
rate is then fed to uart_update_timeout().
For example, with an input clock of 80MHz, and a selected baud rate of 50,
sc16is7xx_set_baud() will return 200 instead of 50.
Fix this by first changing the prescaler variable to hold the selected
prescaler value instead of the MCR bitfield. Then properly take into
account the selected prescaler value in the return value computation.
Also add better documentation about the divisor value computation.

commit 614a19b89c upstream.
There is a scenario when resuming from some power saving states
with no_console_suspend where console output can be generated
before the 8250_bcm7271 driver gets the opportunity to restore
the baud_mux_clk frequency. Since the baud_mux_clk is at its
default frequency at this time the output can be garbled until
the driver gets the opportunity to resume.
Since this is only an issue with console use of the serial port
during that window and the console isn't likely to use baud
rates that require alternate baud_mux_clk frequencies, allow the
driver to select the default_mux_rate if it is accurate enough.

commit 70d7f1427a upstream.
The current implementation uses either gsm0_receive() or gsm1_receive()
depending on whether the user configured the mux in basic or advanced
option mode. Both functions share some state values over the same logical
elements of the frame. However, both frame types differ in their nature.
gsm0_receive() uses non-transparency framing, whereas gsm1_receive() uses
transparency mechanism. Switching between both modes leaves the receive
function in an undefined state when done during frame reception.
Fix this by splitting both states. Add gsm0_receive_state_check_and_fix()
and gsm1_receive_state_check_and_fix() to ensure that gsm->state is reset
after a change of gsm->receive.
Note that gsm->state is only accessed in:
- gsm0_receive()
- gsm1_receive()
- gsm_error()

commit 47388e807f upstream.
Assuming the following:
- side A configures the n_gsm in basic option mode
- side B sends the header of a basic option mode frame with data length 1
- side A switches to advanced option mode
- side B sends 2 data bytes which exceeds gsm->len
Reason: gsm->len is not used in advanced option mode.
- side A switches to basic option mode
- side B keeps sending until gsm0_receive() writes past gsm->buf
Reason: Neither gsm->state nor gsm->len have been reset after
reconfiguration.
Fix this by changing gsm->count to gsm->len comparison from equal to less
than. Also add upper limit checks against the constant MAX_MRU in
gsm0_receive() and gsm1_receive() to harden against memory corruption of
gsm->len and gsm->mru.
All other checks remain as we still need to limit the data according to the
user configuration and actual payload size.

commit b2aba15ad6 upstream.
Currently, when kdb is compiled with keyboard support, then we will use
schedule_work() to provoke reset of the keyboard status. Unfortunately
schedule_work() gets called from the kgdboc post-debug-exception
handler. That risks deadlock since schedule_work() is not NMI-safe and,
even on platforms where the NMI is not directly used for debugging, the
debug trap can have NMI-like behaviour depending on where breakpoints
are placed.
Fix this by using the irq work system, which is NMI-safe, to defer the
call to schedule_work() to a point when it is safe to call.

commit 1be3226445 upstream.
The mitigation was intended to stop the irq completely. That may be
better than a hard lock-up but it turns out that you get a crash anyway
if you're using pmac_zilog as a serial console:
ttyPZ0: pmz: rx irq flood !
BUG: spinlock recursion on CPU#0, swapper/0
That's because the pr_err() call in pmz_receive_chars() results in
pmz_console_write() attempting to lock a spinlock already locked in
pmz_interrupt(). With CONFIG_DEBUG_SPINLOCK=y, this produces a fatal
BUG splat. The spinlock in question is the one in struct uart_port.
Even when it's not fatal, the serial port rx function ceases to work.
Also, the iteration limit doesn't play nicely with QEMU, as can be
seen in the bug report linked below.
A web search for other reports of the error message "pmz: rx irq flood"
didn't produce anything. So I don't think this code is needed any more.

commit 74cb7e0355 upstream.
If the remote uart device is not connected or not enabled after booting
up, the CTS line is high by default. At this time, if we enable the flow
control when opening the device(for example, using “stty -F /dev/ttyLP4
crtscts” command), there will be a pending idle preamble(first writing 0
and then writing 1 to UARTCTRL_TE will queue an idle preamble) that
cannot be sent out, resulting in the uart port fail to close(waiting for
TX empty), so the user space stty will have to wait for a long time or
forever.
This is an LPUART IP bug(idle preamble has higher priority than CTS),
here add a workaround patch to enable TX CTS after enabling UARTCTRL_TE,
so that the idle preamble does not get stuck due to CTS is deasserted.

[ Upstream commit 801410b26a ]
During the handoff from earlycon to the real console driver, we have
two separate drivers operating on the same device concurrently. In the
case of the 8250 driver these concurrent accesses cause problems due
to the driver's use of banked registers, controlled by LCR.DLAB. It is
possible for the setup(), config_port(), pm() and set_mctrl() callbacks
to set DLAB, which can cause the earlycon code that intends to access
TX to instead access DLL, leading to missed output and corruption on
the serial line due to unintended modifications to the baud rate.
In particular, for setup() we have:
univ8250_console_setup()
-> serial8250_console_setup()
-> uart_set_options()
-> serial8250_set_termios()
-> serial8250_do_set_termios()
-> serial8250_do_set_divisor()
For config_port() we have:
serial8250_config_port()
-> autoconfig()
For pm() we have:
serial8250_pm()
-> serial8250_do_pm()
-> serial8250_set_sleep()
For set_mctrl() we have (for some devices):
serial8250_set_mctrl()
-> omap8250_set_mctrl()
-> __omap8250_set_mctrl()
To avoid such problems, let's make it so that the console is locked
during pre-registration calls to these callbacks, which will prevent
the earlycon driver from running concurrently.
Remove the partial solution to this problem in the 8250 driver
that locked the console only during autoconfig_irq(), as this would
result in a deadlock with the new approach. The console continues
to be locked during autoconfig_irq() because it can only be called
through uart_configure_port().
Although this patch introduces more locking than strictly necessary
(and in particular it also locks during the call to rs485_config()
which is not affected by this issue as far as I can tell), it follows
the principle that it is the responsibility of the generic console
code to manage the earlycon handoff by ensuring that earlycon and real
console driver code cannot run concurrently, and not the individual
drivers.
