fb0e226394 dmaengine: mediatek: Fix a possible deadlock error in mtk_cqdma_tx_status()
[ Upstream commit 157ae5ffd7 ]

Fix a potential deadlock bug. Observe that in the mtk-cqdma.c
file, functions like mtk_cqdma_issue_pending() and
mtk_cqdma_free_active_desc() properly acquire the pc lock before the vc
lock when handling pc and vc fields. However, mtk_cqdma_tx_status()
violates this order by first acquiring the vc lock before invoking
mtk_cqdma_find_active_desc(), which subsequently takes the pc lock. This
reversed locking sequence (vc → pc) contradicts the established
pc → vc order and creates deadlock risks.

Fix the issue by moving the vc lock acquisition code from
mtk_cqdma_find_active_desc() to mtk_cqdma_tx_status(). Ensure the pc lock
is acquired before the vc lock in the calling function to maintain correct
locking hierarchy. Note that since mtk_cqdma_find_active_desc() is a
static function with only one caller (mtk_cqdma_tx_status()), this
modification safely eliminates the deadlock possibility without affecting
other components.

This possible bug is found by an experimental static analysis tool
developed by our team. This tool analyzes the locking APIs to extract
function pairs that can be concurrently executed, and then analyzes the
instructions in the paired functions to identify possible concurrency bugs
including deadlocks, data races and atomicity violations.

9923fde7bf dmaengine: stm32-dma: configure next sg only if there are more than 2 sgs
[ Upstream commit e19bdbaa31 ]

DMA operates in Double Buffer Mode (DBM) when the transfer is cyclic and
there are at least two periods.
When DBM is enabled, the DMA toggles between two memory targets (SxM0AR and
SxM1AR), indicated by the SxSCR.CT bit (Current Target).
There is no need to update the next memory address if two periods are
configured, as SxM0AR and SxM1AR are already properly set up before the
transfer begins in the stm32_dma_start_transfer() function.
This avoids unnecessary updates to SxM0AR/SxM1AR, thereby preventing
potential Transfer Errors. Specifically, when the channel is enabled,
SxM0AR and SxM1AR can only be written if SxSCR.CT=1 and SxSCR.CT=0,
respectively. Otherwise, a Transfer Error interrupt is triggered, and the
stream is automatically disabled.

f366b36c5e dmaengine: nbpfaxi: Fix memory corruption in probe()
commit 188c6ba1dd upstream.

The nbpf->chan[] array is allocated earlier in the nbpf_probe() function
and it has "num_channels" elements. These three loops iterate one
element farther than they should and corrupt memory.

The changes to the second loop are more involved. In this case, we're
copying data from the irqbuf[] array into the nbpf->chan[] array. If
the data in irqbuf[i] is the error IRQ then we skip it, so the iterators
are not in sync. I added a check to ensure that we don't go beyond the
end of the irqbuf[] array. I'm pretty sure this can't happen, but it
seemed harmless to add a check.

On the other hand, after the loop has ended there is a check to ensure
that the "chan" iterator is where we expect it to be. In the original
code we went one element beyond the end of the array so the iterator
wasn't in the correct place and it would always return -EINVAL. However,
now it will always be in the correct place. I deleted the check since
we know the result.

206d8a7b8c dmaengine: idxd: add idxd_copy_cr() to copy user completion record during page fault handling
[ Upstream commit b022f59725 ]

Define idxd_copy_cr() to copy completion record to fault address in
user address that is found by work queue (wq) and PASID.

It will be used to write the user's completion record that the hardware
device is not able to write due to user completion record page fault.

An xarray is added to associate the PASID and mm with the
struct idxd_user_context so mm can be found by PASID and wq.

It is called when handling the completion record fault in a kernel thread
context. Switch to the mm using kthread_use_vm() and copy the
completion record to the mm via copy_to_user(). Once the copy is
completed, switch back to the current mm using kthread_unuse_mm().

02a11d8638 dmaengine: Revert "dmaengine: dmatest: Fix dmatest waiting less when interrupted"
commit df180e6530 upstream.

Several issues with this change:

* The analysis is flawed and it's unclear what problem is being
fixed. There is no difference between wait_event_freezable_timeout()
and wait_event_timeout() with respect to device interrupts. And of
course "the interrupt notifying the finish of an operation happens
  during wait_event_freezable_timeout()" -- that's how it's supposed
  to work.

* The link at the "Closes:" tag appears to be an unrelated
  use-after-free in idxd.

* It introduces a regression: dmatest threads are meant to be
freezable and this change breaks that.

d9a60dd67b dmaengine: dmatest: Fix dmatest waiting less when interrupted
[ Upstream commit e87ca16e99 ]

Change the "wait for operation finish" logic to take interrupts into
account.

When using dmatest with idxd DMA engine, it's possible that during
longer tests, the interrupt notifying the finish of an operation
happens during wait_event_freezable_timeout(), which causes dmatest to
cleanup all the resources, some of which might still be in use.

This fix ensures that the wait logic correctly handles interrupts,
preventing premature cleanup of resources.

e1f1aa9718 dmaengine: dw: Select only supported masters for ACPI devices
commit f0e870a0e9 upstream.

The recently submitted fix-commit revealed a problem in the iDMA 32-bit
platform code. Even though the controller supported only a single master
the dw_dma_acpi_filter() method hard-coded two master interfaces with IDs
0 and 1. As a result the sanity check implemented in the commit
b336268dde ("dmaengine: dw: Add peripheral bus width verification")
got incorrect interface data width and thus prevented the client drivers
from configuring the DMA-channel with the EINVAL error returned. E.g.,
the next error was printed for the PXA2xx SPI controller driver trying
to configure the requested channels:

> [ 164.525604] pxa2xx_spi_pci 0000:00:07.1: DMA slave config failed
> [ 164.536105] pxa2xx_spi_pci 0000:00:07.1: failed to get DMA TX descriptor
> [ 164.543213] spidev spi-SPT0001:00: SPI transfer failed: -16

The problem would have been spotted much earlier if the iDMA 32-bit
controller supported more than one master interfaces. But since it
supports just a single master and the iDMA 32-bit specific code just
ignores the master IDs in the CTLLO preparation method, the issue has
been gone unnoticed so far.

Fix the problem by specifying the default master ID for both memory
and peripheral devices in the driver data. Thus the issue noticed for
the iDMA 32-bit controllers will be eliminated and the ACPI-probed
DW DMA controllers will be configured with the correct master ID by
default.

00041c90a8 dmaengine: dw: Add memory bus width verification
[ Upstream commit d04b21bfa1 ]

Currently in case of the DEV_TO_MEM or MEM_TO_DEV DMA transfers the memory
data width (single transfer width) is determined based on the buffer
length, buffer base address or DMA master-channel max address width
capability. It isn't enough in case of the channel disabling prior the
block transfer is finished. Here is what DW AHB DMA IP-core databook says
regarding the port suspension (DMA-transfer pause) implementation in the
controller:

"When CTLx.SRC_TR_WIDTH < CTLx.DST_TR_WIDTH and the CFGx.CH_SUSP bit is
high, the CFGx.FIFO_EMPTY is asserted once the contents of the FIFO do not
permit a single word of CTLx.DST_TR_WIDTH to be formed. However, there may
still be data in the channel FIFO, but not enough to form a single
transfer of CTLx.DST_TR_WIDTH. In this scenario, once the channel is
disabled, the remaining data in the channel FIFO is not transferred to the
destination peripheral."

So in case if the port gets to be suspended and then disabled it's
possible to have the data silently discarded even though the controller
reported that FIFO is empty and the CTLx.BLOCK_TS indicated the dropped
data already received from the source device. This looks as if the data
somehow got lost on a way from the peripheral device to memory and causes
problems for instance in the DW APB UART driver, which pauses and disables
the DMA-transfer as soon as the recv data timeout happens. Here is the way
it looks:

Memory <------- DMA FIFO <------ UART FIFO <---------------- UART
  DST_TR_WIDTH -+--------| | |
                | | | | No more data
   Current lvl -+--------| |---------+- DMA-burst lvl
                | | |---------+- Leftover data
                | | |---------+- SRC_TR_WIDTH
               -+--------+-------+---------+

In the example above: no more data is getting received over the UART port
and BLOCK_TS is not even close to be fully received; some data is left in
the UART FIFO, but not enough to perform a bursted DMA-xfer to the DMA
FIFO; some data is left in the DMA FIFO, but not enough to be passed
further to the system memory in a single transfer. In this situation the
8250 UART driver catches the recv timeout interrupt, pauses the
DMA-transfer and terminates it completely, after which the IRQ handler
manually fetches the leftover data from the UART FIFO into the
recv-buffer. But since the DMA-channel has been disabled with the data
left in the DMA FIFO, that data will be just discarded and the recv-buffer
will have a gap of the "current lvl" size in the recv-buffer at the tail
of the lately received data portion. So the data will be lost just due to
the misconfigured DMA transfer.

Note this is only relevant for the case of the transfer suspension and
_disabling_. No problem will happen if the transfer will be re-enabled
afterwards or the block transfer is fully completed. In the later case the
"FIFO flush mode" will be executed at the transfer final stage in order to
push out the data left in the DMA FIFO.

In order to fix the denoted problem the DW AHB DMA-engine driver needs to
make sure that the _bursted_ source transfer width is greater or equal to
the single destination transfer (note the HW databook describes more
strict constraint than actually required). Since the peripheral-device
side is prescribed by the client driver logic, the memory-side can be only
used for that. The solution can be easily implemented for the DEV_TO_MEM
transfers just by adjusting the memory-channel address width. Sadly it's
not that easy for the MEM_TO_DEV transfers since the mem-to-dma burst size
is normally dynamically determined by the controller. So the only thing
that can be done is to make sure that memory-side address width is greater
than the peripheral device address width.

e7a804d15a dmaengine: dw: Add peripheral bus width verification
[ Upstream commit b336268dde ]

Currently the src_addr_width and dst_addr_width fields of the
dma_slave_config structure are mapped to the CTLx.SRC_TR_WIDTH and
CTLx.DST_TR_WIDTH fields of the peripheral bus side in order to have the
properly aligned data passed to the target device. It's done just by
converting the passed peripheral bus width to the encoded value using the
__ffs() function. This implementation has several problematic sides:

1. __ffs() is undefined if no bit exist in the passed value. Thus if the
specified addr-width is DMA_SLAVE_BUSWIDTH_UNDEFINED, __ffs() may return
unexpected value depending on the platform-specific implementation.

2. DW AHB DMA-engine permits having the power-of-2 transfer width limited
by the DMAH_Mk_HDATA_WIDTH IP-core synthesize parameter. Specifying
bus-width out of that constraints scope will definitely cause unexpected
result since the destination reg will be only partly touched than the
client driver implied.

Let's fix all of that by adding the peripheral bus width verification
method and calling it in dwc_config() which is supposed to be executed
before preparing any transfer. The new method will make sure that the
passed source or destination address width is valid and if undefined then
the driver will just fallback to the 1-byte width transfer.

95dc59ba94 dmaengine: ioat: Drop redundant pci_enable_pcie_error_reporting()
[ Upstream commit e32622f84a ]

pci_enable_pcie_error_reporting() enables the device to send ERR_*
Messages. Since f26e58bf6f ("PCI/AER: Enable error reporting when AER is
native"), the PCI core does this for all devices during enumeration, so the
driver doesn't need to do it itself.

Remove the redundant pci_enable_pcie_error_reporting() call from the
driver. Also remove the corresponding pci_disable_pcie_error_reporting()
from the driver .remove() path.

Note that this only controls ERR_* Messages from the device. An ERR_*
Message may cause the Root Port to generate an interrupt, depending on the
AER Root Error Command register managed by the AER service driver.

dd42570018 Avoid hw_desc array overrun in dw-axi-dmac
[ Upstream commit 333e11bf47 ]

I have a use case where nr_buffers = 3 and in which each descriptor is composed by 3
segments, resulting in the DMA channel descs_allocated to be 9. Since axi_desc_put()
handles the hw_desc considering the descs_allocated, this scenario would result in a
kernel panic (hw_desc array will be overrun).

To fix this, the proposal is to add a new member to the axi_dma_desc structure,
where we keep the number of allocated hw_descs (axi_desc_alloc()) and use it in
axi_desc_put() to handle the hw_desc array correctly.

Additionally I propose to remove the axi_chan_start_first_queued() call after completing
the transfer, since it was identified that unbalance can occur (started descriptors can
be interrupted and transfer ignored due to DMA channel not being enabled).

5056d23893 dmaengine: idxd: add a write() method for applications to submit work
commit 6827738dc6 upstream.

After the patch to restrict the use of mmap() to CAP_SYS_RAWIO for
the currently existing devices, most applications can no longer make
use of the accelerators as in production "you don't run things as root".

To keep the DSA and IAA accelerators usable, hook up a write() method
so that applications can still submit work. In the write method,
sufficient input validation is performed to avoid the security issue
that required the mmap CAP_SYS_RAWIO check.

One complication is that the DSA device allows for indirect ("batched")
descriptors. There is no reasonable way to do the input validation
on these indirect descriptors so the write() method will not allow these
to be submitted to the hardware on affected hardware, and the sysfs
enumeration of support for the opcode is also removed.

Early performance data shows that the performance delta for most common
cases is within the noise.

3e4368832e dmaengine: idxd: add a new security check to deal with a hardware erratum
commit e11452eb07 upstream.

On Sapphire Rapids and related platforms, the DSA and IAA devices have an
erratum that causes direct access (for example, by using the ENQCMD or
MOVDIR64 instructions) from untrusted applications to be a security problem.

To solve this, add a flag to the PCI device enumeration and device structures
to indicate the presence/absence of this security exposure. In the mmap()
method of the device, this flag is then used to enforce that the user
has the CAP_SYS_RAWIO capability.

In a future patch, a write() based method will be added that allows untrusted
applications submit work to the accelerator, where the kernel can do
sanity checking on the user input to ensure secure operation of the accelerator.
