a3c56b90b6 drm/amd/amdgpu: Fix missing error return on kzalloc failure
[ Upstream commit 467e00b30d ]

Currently the kzalloc failure check just sets reports the failure
and sets the variable ret to -ENOMEM, which is not checked later
for this specific error. Fix this by just returning -ENOMEM rather
than setting ret.

785f72d1f8 drm/bridge: ti-sn65dsi86: fix REFCLK setting
[ Upstream commit bdd5a14e66 ]

The bridge has three bootstrap pins which are sampled to determine the
frequency of the external reference clock. The driver will also
(over)write that setting. But it seems this is racy after the bridge is
enabled. It was observed that although the driver write the correct
value (by sniffing on the I2C bus), the register has the wrong value.
The datasheet states that the GPIO lines have to be stable for at least
5us after asserting the EN signal. Thus, there seems to be some logic
which samples the GPIO lines and this logic appears to overwrite the
register value which was set by the driver. Waiting 20us after
asserting the EN line resolves this issue.

4f546a7767 drm/dp: Change AUX DPCD probe address from DPCD_REV to LANE0_1_STATUS
[ Upstream commit a40c5d727b ]

Reading DPCD registers has side-effects in general. In particular
accessing registers outside of the link training register range
(0x102-0x106, 0x202-0x207, 0x200c-0x200f, 0x2216) is explicitly
forbidden by the DP v2.1 Standard, see

3.6.5.1 DPTX AUX Transaction Handling Mandates
3.6.7.4 128b/132b DP Link Layer LTTPR Link Training Mandates

Based on my tests, accessing the DPCD_REV register during the link
training of an UHBR TBT DP tunnel sink leads to link training failures.

Solve the above by using the DP_LANE0_1_STATUS (0x202) register for the
DPCD register access quirk.

bad3cf7fd2 drm/amd/display: Fix DP audio DTO1 clock source on DCE 6.
commit 297a4833a6 upstream.

On DCE 6, DP audio was not working. However, it worked when an
HDMI monitor was also plugged in.

Looking at dce_aud_wall_dto_setup it seems that the main
difference is that we use DTO1 when only DP is plugged in.

When programming DTO1, it uses audio_dto_source_clock_in_khz
which is set from get_dp_ref_freq_khz

The dce60_get_dp_ref_freq_khz implementation looks incorrect,
because DENTIST_DISPCLK_CNTL seems to be always zero on DCE 6,
so it isn't usable.
I compared dce60_get_dp_ref_freq_khz to the legacy display code,
specifically dce_v6_0_audio_set_dto, and it turns out that in
case of DCE 6, it needs to use the display clock. With that,
DP audio started working on Pitcairn, Oland and Cape Verde.

However, it still didn't work on Tahiti. Despite having the
same DCE version, Tahiti seems to have a different audio device.
After some trial and error I realized that it works with the
default display clock as reported by the VBIOS, not the current
display clock.

The patch was tested on all four SI GPUs:

* Pitcairn (DCE 6.0)
* Oland (DCE 6.4)
* Cape Verde (DCE 6.0)
* Tahiti (DCE 6.0 but different)

The testing was done on Samsung Odyssey G7 LS28BG700EPXEN on
each of the above GPUs, at the following settings:

* 4K 60 Hz
* 1080p 60 Hz
* 1080p 144 Hz

f230a725ec drm/amd/display: Fix fractional fb divider in set_pixel_clock_v3
commit 1050747846 upstream.

For later VBIOS versions, the fractional feedback divider is
calculated as the remainder of dividing the feedback divider by
a factor, which is set to 1000000. For reference, see:
- calculate_fb_and_fractional_fb_divider
- calc_pll_max_vco_construct

However, in case of old VBIOS versions that have
set_pixel_clock_v3, they only have 1 byte available for the
fractional feedback divider, and it's expected to be set to the
remainder from dividing the feedback divider by 10.
For reference see the legacy display code:
- amdgpu_pll_compute
- amdgpu_atombios_crtc_program_pll

This commit fixes set_pixel_clock_v3 by dividing the fractional
feedback divider passed to the function by 100000.

54629d2845 drm/sched: Remove optimization that causes hang when killing dependent jobs
[ Upstream commit 15f77764e9 ]

When application A submits jobs and application B submits a job with a
dependency on A's fence, the normal flow wakes up the scheduler after
processing each job. However, the optimization in
drm_sched_entity_add_dependency_cb() uses a callback that only clears
dependencies without waking up the scheduler.

When application A is killed before its jobs can run, the callback gets
triggered but only clears the dependency without waking up the scheduler,
causing the scheduler to enter sleep state and application B to hang.

Remove the optimization by deleting drm_sched_entity_clear_dep() and its
usage, ensuring the scheduler is always woken up when dependencies are
cleared.

d003b4a87f drm/ttm: Respect the shrinker core free target
[ Upstream commit eac21f8ebe ]

Currently the TTM shrinker aborts shrinking as soon as it frees pages from
any of the page order pools and by doing so it can fail to respect the
freeing target which was configured by the shrinker core.

We use the wording "can fail" because the number of freed pages will
depend on the presence of pages in the pools and the order of the pools on
the LRU list. For example if there are no free pages in the high order
pools the shrinker core may require multiple passes over the TTM shrinker
before it will free the default target of 128 pages (assuming there are
free pages in the low order pools). This inefficiency can be compounded by
the pool LRU where multiple further calls into the TTM shrinker are
required to end up looking at the pool with pages.

Improve this by never freeing less than the shrinker core has requested.

At the same time we start reporting the number of scanned pages (freed in
this case), which prevents the core shrinker from giving up on the TTM
shrinker too soon and moving on.

6e8421d4f2 drm/msm: use trylock for debugfs
[ Upstream commit 0a1ff88ec5 ]

This resolves a potential deadlock vs msm_gem_vm_close(). Otherwise for
_NO_SHARE buffers msm_gem_describe() could be trying to acquire the
shared vm resv, while already holding priv->obj_lock. But _vm_close()
might drop the last reference to a GEM obj while already holding the vm
resv, and msm_gem_free_object() needs to grab priv->obj_lock, a locking
inversion.

OTOH this is only for debugfs and it isn't critical if we undercount by
skipping a locked obj. So just use trylock() and move along if we can't
get the lock.

f9a77c85d1 drm/i915/dp: Fix 2.7 Gbps DP_LINK_BW value on g4x
commit 9e0c433d0c upstream.

On g4x we currently use the 96MHz non-SSC refclk, which can't actually
generate an exact 2.7 Gbps link rate. In practice we end up with 2.688
Gbps which seems to be close enough to actually work, but link training
is currently failing due to miscalculating the DP_LINK_BW value (we
calcualte it directly from port_clock which reflects the actual PLL
outpout frequency).

Ideas how to fix this:
- nudge port_clock back up to 270000 during PLL computation/readout
- track port_clock and the nominal link rate separately so they might
  differ a bit
- switch to the 100MHz refclk, but that one should be SSC so perhaps
  not something we want

While we ponder about a better solution apply some band aid to the
immediate issue of miscalculated DP_LINK_BW value. With this
I can again use 2.7 Gbps link rate on g4x.

9bf4b69650 drm/gem: Fix race in drm_gem_handle_create_tail()
commit bd46cece51 upstream.

Object creation is a careful dance where we must guarantee that the
object is fully constructed before it is visible to other threads, and
GEM buffer objects are no difference.

Final publishing happens by calling drm_gem_handle_create(). After
that the only allowed thing to do is call drm_gem_object_put() because
a concurrent call to the GEM_CLOSE ioctl with a correctly guessed id
(which is trivial since we have a linear allocator) can already tear
down the object again.

Luckily most drivers get this right, the very few exceptions I've
pinged the relevant maintainers for. Unfortunately we also need
drm_gem_handle_create() when creating additional handles for an
already existing object (e.g. GETFB ioctl or the various bo import
ioctl), and hence we cannot have a drm_gem_handle_create_and_put() as
the only exported function to stop these issues from happening.

Now unfortunately the implementation of drm_gem_handle_create() isn't
living up to standards: It does correctly finishe object
initialization at the global level, and hence is safe against a
concurrent tear down. But it also sets up the file-private aspects of
the handle, and that part goes wrong: We fully register the object in
the drm_file.object_idr before calling drm_vma_node_allow() or
obj->funcs->open, which opens up races against concurrent removal of
that handle in drm_gem_handle_delete().

Fix this with the usual two-stage approach of first reserving the
handle id, and then only registering the object after we've completed
the file-private setup.

Jacek reported this with a testcase of concurrently calling GEM_CLOSE
on a freshly-created object (which also destroys the object), but it
should be possible to hit this with just additional handles created
through import or GETFB without completed destroying the underlying
object with the concurrent GEM_CLOSE ioctl calls.

Note that the close-side of this race was fixed in f6cd7daecf ("drm:
Release driver references to handle before making it available
again"), which means a cool 9 years have passed until someone noticed
that we need to make this symmetry or there's still gaps left :-/
Without the 2-stage close approach we'd still have a race, therefore
that's an integral part of this bugfix.

More importantly, this means we can have NULL pointers behind
allocated id in our drm_file.object_idr. We need to check for that
now:

- drm_gem_handle_delete() checks for ERR_OR_NULL already

- drm_gem.c:object_lookup() also chekcs for NULL

- drm_gem_release() should never be called if there's another thread
  still existing that could call into an IOCTL that creates a new
  handle, so cannot race. For paranoia I added a NULL check to
  drm_gem_object_release_handle() though.

- most drivers (etnaviv, i915, msm) are find because they use
  idr_find(), which maps both ENOENT and NULL to NULL.

- drivers using idr_for_each_entry() should also be fine, because
  idr_get_next does filter out NULL entries and continues the
  iteration.

- The same holds for drm_show_memory_stats().

a40a35166f drm/exynos: exynos7_drm_decon: add vblank check in IRQ handling
commit b846350aa2 upstream.

If there's support for another console device (such as a TTY serial),
the kernel occasionally panics during boot. The panic message and a
relevant snippet of the call stack is as follows:

  Unable to handle kernel NULL pointer dereference at virtual address 000000000000000
  Call trace:
    drm_crtc_handle_vblank+0x10/0x30 (P)
    decon_irq_handler+0x88/0xb4
    [...]

Otherwise, the panics don't happen. This indicates that it's some sort
of race condition.

Add a check to validate if the drm device can handle vblanks before
calling drm_crtc_handle_vblank() to avoid this.

Before resetting the GPU, it's necessary to disable all interrupts and
deal with any interrupt handler still in-flight. Otherwise, the GPU might
reset with jobs still running, or yet, an interrupt could be handled
during the reset.
