aafeabf276 usb: xhci: fix loss of data on Cadence xHC
[ Upstream commit e5fa8db0be ]

Streams should flush their TRB cache, re-read TRBs, and start executing
TRBs from the beginning of the new dequeue pointer after a 'Set TR Dequeue
Pointer' command.

Cadence controllers may fail to start from the beginning of the dequeue
TRB as it doesn't clear the Opaque 'RsvdO' field of the stream context
during 'Set TR Dequeue' command. This stream context area is where xHC
stores information about the last partially executed TD when a stream
is stopped. xHC uses this information to resume the transfer where it left
mid TD, when the stream is restarted.

Patch fixes this by clearing out all RsvdO fields before initializing new
Stream transfer using a 'Set TR Dequeue Pointer' command.

eef5d6219a xhci: Add a quirk for writing ERST in high-low order
[ Upstream commit bc162403e3 ]

This quirk is for the controller that has a limitation in supporting
separate ERSTBA_HI and ERSTBA_LO programming. It's supported when
the ERSTBA is programmed ERSTBA_HI before ERSTBA_LO. That's because
the internal initialization of event ring fetches the
"Event Ring Segment Table Entry" based on the indication of ERSTBA_LO
written.

eff6dde4c3 usb: yurex: Replace snprintf() with the safer scnprintf() variant
[ Upstream commit 86b20af11e ]

There is a general misunderstanding amongst engineers that {v}snprintf()
returns the length of the data *actually* encoded into the destination
array. However, as per the C99 standard {v}snprintf() really returns
the length of the data that *would have been* written if there were
enough space for it. This misunderstanding has led to buffer-overruns
in the past. It's generally considered safer to use the {v}scnprintf()
variants in their place (or even sprintf() in simple cases). So let's
do that.

Whilst we're at it, let's define some magic numbers to increase
readability and ease of maintenance.

4f7908ebaf usb: dwc2: drd: fix clock gating on USB role switch
commit 2c6b6afa59 upstream.

The dwc2_handle_usb_suspend_intr() function disables gadget clocks in USB
peripheral mode when no other power-down mode is available (introduced by
commit 0112b7ce68 ("usb: dwc2: Update dwc2_handle_usb_suspend_intr function.")).
However, the dwc2_drd_role_sw_set() USB role update handler attempts to
read DWC2 registers if the USB role has changed while the USB is in suspend
mode (when the clocks are gated). This causes the system to hang.

Release the gadget clocks before handling the USB role update.

19fb05d2e5 usb: cdnsp: Fix incorrect usb_request status
commit 1702bec447 upstream.

Fix changes incorrect usb_request->status returned during disabling
endpoints. Before fix the status returned during dequeuing requests
while disabling endpoint was ECONNRESET.
Patch change it to ESHUTDOWN.

Patch fixes issue detected during testing UVC gadget.
During stopping streaming the class starts dequeuing usb requests and
controller driver returns the -ECONNRESET status. After completion
requests the class or application "uvc-gadget" try to queue this
request again. Changing this status to ESHUTDOWN cause that UVC assumes
that endpoint is disabled, or device is disconnected and stops
re-queuing usb requests.

7d301dd272 usb: dwc3: Avoid waking up gadget during startxfer
commit 00dcf2fa44 upstream.

When operating in High-Speed, it is observed that DSTS[USBLNKST] doesn't
update link state immediately after receiving the wakeup interrupt. Since
wakeup event handler calls the resume callbacks, there is a chance that
function drivers can perform an ep queue, which in turn tries to perform
remote wakeup from send_gadget_ep_cmd(STARTXFER). This happens because
DSTS[[21:18] wasn't updated to U0 yet, it's observed that the latency of
DSTS can be in order of milli-seconds. Hence avoid calling gadget_wakeup
during startxfer to prevent unnecessarily issuing remote wakeup to host.

6ef746b0b6 usb: dwc3: core: update LC timer as per USB Spec V3.2
commit 9149c9b0c7 upstream.

This fix addresses STAR 9001285599, which only affects DWC_usb3 version
3.20a. The timer value for PM_LC_TIMER in DWC_usb3 3.20a for the Link
ECN changes is incorrect. If the PM TIMER ECN is enabled via GUCTL2[19],
the link compliance test (TD7.21) may fail. If the ECN is not enabled
(GUCTL2[19] = 0), the controller will use the old timer value (5us),
which is still acceptable for the link compliance test. Therefore, clear
GUCTL2[19] to pass the USB link compliance test: TD 7.21.

        1. In dwc3_gadget_suspend, there is a chance of a timeout when
        moving the USB core to the halt state after clearing the
        run/stop bit by software.
        2. In dwc3_core_exit, the event buffer is cleared regardless of
        the USB core's status, which may lead to an SMMU faults and
        other memory issues. if the USB core tries to access the event
        buffer address.

To prevent this hardware quirk on Exynos platforms, this commit ensures
that the event buffer address is not cleared by software when the USB
core is active during runtime suspend by checking its status before
clearing the buffer address.

1efdbf5323 soc: qcom: pmic_glink: Fix race during initialization
commit 3568affcdd upstream.

As pointed out by Stephen Boyd it is possible that during initialization
of the pmic_glink child drivers, the protection-domain notifiers fires,
and the associated work is scheduled, before the client registration
returns and as a result the local "client" pointer has been initialized.

The outcome of this is a NULL pointer dereference as the "client"
pointer is blindly dereferenced.

Timeline provided by Stephen:
 CPU0                               CPU1
 ----                               ----

    <schedule away>
                                    pmic_glink_ucsi_register()
                                     ucsi_register()
                                      pmic_glink_ucsi_read_version()
                                       pmic_glink_ucsi_read()
                                        pmic_glink_ucsi_read()
                                         pmic_glink_send(ucsi->client)
                                         <client is NULL BAD>
 ucsi->client = client // Too late!

This code is identical across the altmode, battery manager and usci
child drivers.

Resolve this by splitting the allocation of the "client" object and the
registration thereof into two operations.

This only happens if the protection domain registry is populated at the
time of registration, which by the introduction of commit '1ebcde047c
("soc: qcom: add pd-mapper implementation")' became much more likely.

6b99de301d xhci: Fix Panther point NULL pointer deref at full-speed re-enumeration
commit af8e119f52 upstream.

re-enumerating full-speed devices after a failed address device command
can trigger a NULL pointer dereference.

Full-speed devices may need to reconfigure the endpoint 0 Max Packet Size
value during enumeration. Usb core calls usb_ep0_reinit() in this case,
which ends up calling xhci_configure_endpoint().

On Panther point xHC the xhci_configure_endpoint() function will
additionally check and reserve bandwidth in software. Other hosts do
this in hardware

If xHC address device command fails then a new xhci_virt_device structure
is allocated as part of re-enabling the slot, but the bandwidth table
pointers are not set up properly here.
This triggers the NULL pointer dereference the next time usb_ep0_reinit()
is called and xhci_configure_endpoint() tries to check and reserve
bandwidth

c2a3b181f0 Revert "usb: typec: tcpm: clear pd_event queue in PORT_RESET"

This reverts commit bf20c69cf3.

During tcpm_init() stage, if the VBUS is still present after

VBUS reach to off state. TCPM_VBUS_EVENT event may be set during

set, we will lost this VBUS event. Then the port state machine may stuck

This driver is intended as a "client" end of the console connection.
When connected to a host it's supposed to receive debug logs, and
possibly allow to interact with whatever debug console is available
there. Feeding messages back, depending on a configuration may cause log
messages be executed as shell commands (which can be really bad if one
is unlucky, imagine a log message like "prevented running `rm -rf
/home`"). In case of Xen, it exposes sysrq-like debug interface, and
feeding it its own logs will pretty quickly hit 'R' for "instant
reboot".

Contrary to a classic serial console, the USB one cannot be configured
ahead of time, as the device shows up only when target OS is up. And at
the time device is opened to execute relevant ioctl, it's already too
late, especially when logs start flowing shortly after device is
initialized.
Avoid the issue by changing default to no echo for this type of devices.

128e82e41c usb: vhci-hcd: Do not drop references before new references are gained
commit afdcfd3d6f upstream.

At a few places the driver carries stale pointers
to references that can still be used. Make sure that does not happen.
This strictly speaking closes ZDI-CAN-22273, though there may be
similar races in the driver.

9f0fb11264 usb: gadget: midi2: Fix incorrect default MIDI2 protocol setup
commit 3eb27d3e32 upstream.

The MIDI2 gadget driver handled the default MIDI protocol version
incorrectly due to the confusion of the protocol version passed via
configfs (either 1 or 2) and UMP protocol bits (0x100 / 0x200).
As a consequence, the default protocol always resulted in MIDI1.

This patch addresses the misunderstanding of the protocol handling.

9339641b99 xhci: always resume roothubs if xHC was reset during resume
commit 79989bd4ab upstream.

Usb device connect may not be detected after runtime resume if
xHC is reset during resume.

In runtime resume cases xhci_resume() will only resume roothubs if there
are pending port events. If the xHC host is reset during runtime resume
due to a Save/Restore Error (SRE) then these pending port events won't be
detected as PORTSC change bits are not immediately set by host after reset.

Unconditionally resume roothubs if xHC is reset during resume to ensure
device connections are detected.

Also return early with error code if starting xHC fails after reset.

Issue was debugged and a similar solution suggested by Remi Pommarel.
Using this instead as it simplifies future refactoring.

647d61aef1 USB: core: Fix duplicate endpoint bug by clearing reserved bits in the descriptor
commit a368ecde8a upstream.

Syzbot has identified a bug in usbcore (see the Closes: tag below)
caused by our assumption that the reserved bits in an endpoint
descriptor's bEndpointAddress field will always be 0. As a result of
the bug, the endpoint_is_duplicate() routine in config.c (and possibly
other routines as well) may believe that two descriptors are for
distinct endpoints, even though they have the same direction and
endpoint number. This can lead to confusion, including the bug
identified by syzbot (two descriptors with matching endpoint numbers
and directions, where one was interrupt and the other was bulk).

To fix the bug, we will clear the reserved bits in bEndpointAddress
when we parse the descriptor. (Note that both the USB-2.0 and USB-3.1
specs say these bits are "Reserved, reset to zero".) This requires us
to make a copy of the descriptor earlier in usb_parse_endpoint() and
use the copy instead of the original when checking for duplicates.

d1205033e9 usb: gadget: configfs: Prevent OOB read/write in usb_string_copy()
commit 6d3c721e68 upstream.

Userspace provided string 's' could trivially have the length zero. Left
unchecked this will firstly result in an OOB read in the form
`if (str[0 - 1] == '\n') followed closely by an OOB write in the form
`str[0 - 1] = '\0'`.

There is already a validating check to catch strings that are too long.
Let's supply an additional check for invalid strings that are too short.
