JZ4750/55/60 (but not JZ4760b) have an optional /2 divider between the EXT oscillator and some peripherals including UART, which will be enabled if using a 24 MHz oscillator, and disabled when using a 12 MHz oscillator. This behavior relies on hardware differences: most boards (if not all) with those SoCs have 12 or 24 MHz oscillators but many peripherals want 12Mhz to operate properly (AIC and USB-PHY at least). The 16MHz threshold looks arbitrary but used in vendor's bootloader code for enable the divider. The patch doesn't affect JZ4760's behavior as it is subject for another patchset with re-classification of all supported ingenic UARTs. Linux kernel
============
There are several guides for kernel developers and users. These guides can
be rendered in a number of formats, like HTML and PDF. Please read
Documentation/admin-guide/README.rst first.
In order to build the documentation, use ``make htmldocs`` or
``make pdfdocs``. The formatted documentation can also be read online at:
https://www.kernel.org/doc/html/latest/
There are various text files in the Documentation/ subdirectory,
several of them using the Restructured Text markup notation.
Please read the Documentation/process/changes.rst file, as it contains the
requirements for building and running the kernel, and information about
the problems which may result by upgrading your kernel.
