[ Upstream commit 855d75cf83 ]
There is a potential delay in notifying Linux USB drivers of downstream
USB bus activity when connecting a high-speed or superSpeed device via the
Microchip USB491x hub. This delay is due to the fixed bInterval value of
12 in the silicon of the Microchip USB491x hub.
Microchip requested to ignore the device descriptor and decrease that
value to 9 as it was too late to modify that in silicon.
This patch speeds up the USB enummeration process that helps to pass
Apple Carplay certifications and improve the User experience when utilizing
the USB device via Microchip Multihost USB491x Hub.
A new hub quirk HUB_QUIRK_REDUCE_FRAME_INTR_BINTERVAL speeds up
the notification process for Microchip USB491x hub by limiting
the maximum bInterval value to 9.

Current EP0 dequeue path will share the same as other EPs. However, there
are some special considerations that need to be made for EP0 transfers:
- EP0 transfers never transition into the started_list
- EP0 only has one active request at a time
In case there is a vendor specific control message for a function over USB
FFS, then there is no guarantee on the timeline which the DATA/STATUS stage
is responded to. While this occurs, any attempt to end transfers on
non-control EPs will end up having the DWC3_EP_DELAY_STOP flag set, and
defer issuing of the end transfer command. If the USB FFS application
decides to timeout the control transfer, or if USB FFS AIO path exits, the
USB FFS driver will issue a call to usb_ep_dequeue() for the ep0 request.
In case of the AIO exit path, the AIO FS blocks until all pending USB
requests utilizing the AIO path is completed. However, since the dequeue
of ep0 req does not happen properly, all non-control EPs with the
DWC3_EP_DELAY_STOP flag set will not be handled, and the AIO exit path will
be stuck waiting for the USB FFS data endpoints to receive a completion
callback.
Fix is to utilize dwc3_ep0_reset_state() in the dequeue API to ensure EP0
is brought back to the SETUP state, and ensures that any deferred end
transfer commands are handled. This also will end any active transfers
on EP0, compared to the previous implementation which directly called
giveback only.

There is a scenario where DWC3 runtime suspend is blocked due to the
dwc->connected flag still being true while PM usage_count is zero after
DWC3 giveback is completed and the USB gadget session is being terminated.
This leads to a case where nothing schedules a PM runtime idle for the
device.
The exact condition is seen with the following sequence:
1. USB bus reset is issued by the host
2. Shortly after, or concurrently, a USB PD DR SWAP request is received
(sink->source)
3. USB bus reset event handler runs and issues
dwc3_stop_active_transfers(), and pending transfer are stopped
4. DWC3 usage_count decremented to 0, and runtime idle occurs while
dwc->connected == true, returns -EBUSY
5. DWC3 disconnect event seen, dwc->connected set to false due to DR
swap handling
6. No runtime idle after this point
Address this by issuing an asynchronous PM runtime idle call after the
disconnect event is completed, as it modifies the dwc->connected flag,
which is what blocks the initial runtime idle.

In ACM support for sending breaks to devices is optional.
If a device says that it doenot support sending breaks,
the host must respect that.
Given the number of optional features providing tty operations
for each combination is not practical and errors need to be
returned dynamically if unsupported features are requested.
In case a device does not support break, we want the tty layer
to treat that like it treats drivers that statically cannot
support sending a break. It ignores the inability and does nothing.

Concurrent execution of mon_bin_vma_fault() with mon_bin_vma_close() and
mon_bin_ioctl() could lead to atomicity violations. mon_bin_vma_fault()
accesses rp->b_size and rp->b_vec without locking, risking array
out-of-bounds access or use-after-free bugs due to possible modifications
in mon_bin_ioctl().
This possible bug is found by an experimental static analysis tool
developed by our team, BassCheck[1]. This tool analyzes the locking APIs
to extract function pairs that can be concurrently executed, and then
analyzes the instructions in the paired functions to identify possible
concurrency bugs including data races and atomicity violations. The above
possible bug is reported when our tool analyzes the source code of
Linux 6.2.
To address this issue, it is proposed to add a spin lock pair in
mon_bin_vma_fault() to ensure atomicity. With this patch applied, our tool
never reports the possible bug, with the kernel configuration allyesconfig
for x86_64. Due to the lack of associated hardware, we cannot test the
patch in runtime testing, and just verify it according to the code logic.

add partner_adev that points to the port altmode in typec_put_partner to

1. Calculate numembers of TRB base on sg_nums and priv_ep->interval.

3. The controller requires LINK TRB must be first TRB of TD. When check
there are not enough TRBs lefts, just fill LINK TRB for left TRBs.

Here "temp" is the number of characters that we have written and "size"
is the size of the buffer. The intent was clearly to say that if we have
written to the end of the buffer then stop.
However, for that to work the comparison should have been done on the
original "size" value instead of the "size -= temp" value. Not only
will that not trigger when we want to, but there is a small chance that
it will trigger incorrectly before we want it to and we break from the
loop slightly earlier than intended.
This code was recently changed from using snprintf() to scnprintf(). With
snprintf() we likely would have continued looping and passed a negative
size parameter to snprintf(). This would have triggered an annoying
WARN(). Now that we have converted to scnprintf() "size" will never
drop below 1 and there is no real need for this test. We could change
the condition to "if (temp <= 1) goto done;" but just deleting the test
is cleanest.

The BOS descriptor defines a root descriptor and is the base descriptor for
accessing a family of related descriptors.
Function 'usb_get_bos_descriptor()' encounters an iteration issue when
skipping the 'USB_DT_DEVICE_CAPABILITY' descriptor type. This results in
the same descriptor being read repeatedly.
To address this issue, a 'goto' statement is introduced to ensure that the
pointer and the amount read is updated correctly. This ensures that the
function iterates to the next descriptor instead of reading the same
descriptor repeatedly.

It has been pointed out that the kernel log messages warning about
problems in USB configuration and related descriptors are vexing for
users. The warning log level has a fairly high priority, but the user
can do nothing to fix the underlying errors in the device's firmware.
To reduce the amount of useless information produced by tools that
filter high-priority log messages, we can change these warnings to
notices, i.e., change dev_warn() to dev_notice(). The same holds for
a few messages that currently use dev_err(): Unless they indicate a
failure that might make a device unusable (such as inability to
transfer a config descriptor), change them to dev_notice() also.

Commits 7b8ef22ea5 ("usb: xhci: plat: Add USB phy support") and
9134c1fd05 ("usb: xhci: plat: Add USB 3.0 phy support") added support
for looking up legacy PHYs from the sysdev devicetree node and
initialising them.
This broke drivers such as dwc3 which manages PHYs themself as the PHYs
would now be initialised twice, something which specifically can lead to
resources being left enabled during suspend (e.g. with the
usb_phy_generic PHY driver).
As the dwc3 driver uses driver-name matching for the xhci platform
device, fix this by only looking up and initialising PHYs for devices
that have been matched using OF.
Note that checking that the platform device has a devicetree node would
currently be sufficient, but that could lead to subtle breakages in case
anyone ever tries to reuse an ancestor's node.

The Qualcomm glue driver is overriding the interrupt trigger types
defined by firmware when requesting the wakeup interrupts during probe.
This can lead to a failure to map the DP/DM wakeup interrupts after a
probe deferral as the firmware defined trigger types do not match the
type used for the initial mapping:
irq: type mismatch, failed to map hwirq-14 for interrupt-controller@b220000!

Fix this by not overriding the firmware provided trigger types when

commit 58f2fcb3a8 upstream.
The interrupt service routine registered for the gadget is a primary
handler which mask the interrupt source and a threaded handler which
handles the source of the interrupt. Since the threaded handler is
voluntary threaded, the IRQ-core does not disable bottom halves before
invoke the handler like it does for the forced-threaded handler.
Due to changes in networking it became visible that a network gadget's
completions handler may schedule a softirq which remains unprocessed.
The gadget's completion handler is usually invoked either in hard-IRQ or
soft-IRQ context. In this context it is enough to just raise the softirq
because the softirq itself will be handled once that context is left.
In the case of the voluntary threaded handler, there is nothing that
will process pending softirqs. Which means it remain queued until
another random interrupt (on this CPU) fires and handles it on its exit
path or another thread locks and unlocks a lock with the bh suffix.
Worst case is that the CPU goes idle and the NOHZ complains about
unhandled softirqs.
Disable bottom halves before acquiring the lock (and disabling
interrupts) and enable them after dropping the lock. This ensures that
any pending softirqs will handled right away.

platform device on ACPI probe errors (e.g. probe deferral) and on driver

Previously, gadget assignment to the net device occurred exclusively
during the initial binding attempt.
Nevertheless, the gadget pointer could change during bind/unbind
cycles due to various conditions, including the unloading/loading
of the UDC device driver or the detachment/reconnection of an
OTG-capable USB hub device.
This patch relocates the gether_set_gadget() function out from
ncm_opts->bound condition check, ensuring that the correct gadget
is assigned during each bind request.
The provided logs demonstrate the consistency of ncm_opts throughout
the power cycle, while the gadget may change.
