Commit ae602456e8 ("ASoC: samsung: drop support for legacy
S3C24XX DMA API") removed the old code for the samsung specific
DMA interfaces, now that everybody can use dmaengine.
This picks up the few remaining pieces left over by that patch:
The most important one is the removal of the dma_data->ops->started()
calls in ac97. My understanding is that these are only required
for drivers that do not support cyclic transfers, which the new dma
engine driver now does, so we can simply remove them. This would also
fix at least one bug in the ac97 driver on newer machines, which
currently gives us a NULL pointer dereference from trying to call
dma_data->ops->started().
Further, we must no longer 'select' S3C2410_DMA, which conflicts
with the dmaengine driver. The SND_S3C_DMA symbol is now
useless, because it is always selected, so we can remove it
and build the dmaengine support unconditionally.
Finally, we should not 'select' S3C24XX_DMAC or S3C64XX_PL080,
which may have additional dependencies. This replaces it with
'depends on', to be more conservative.

is per cpu, it did not protect itself from interrupts on the same CPU. This
lead to aio_complete() corrupting the available io requests count when run

The sata on fsl mpc8315e is broken after the commit 8a4aeec8d2
("libata/ahci: accommodate tag ordered controllers"). The reason is
that the ata controller on this SoC only implement a queue depth of
16. When issuing the commands in tag order, all the commands in tag
16 ~ 31 are mapped to tag 0 unconditionally and then causes the sata
malfunction. It makes no senses to use a 32 queue in software while
the hardware has less queue depth. So consider the queue depth
implemented by the hardware when requesting a command tag.

This patch adds support for end of transaction (EOT) and notify when done (NWD)
hardware descriptor flags.
The EOT flag requests that the peripheral assert an end of transaction interrupt
when that descriptor is complete. It also results in special signaling protocol
that is used between the attached peripheral and the core using the DMA
controller. Clients will specify DMA_PREP_INTERRUPT to enable this flag.
The NWD flag requests that the peripheral wait until the data has been fully
processed by the peripheral before moving on to the next descriptor. Clients
will specify DMA_PREP_FENCE to enable this flag.

On OMAP SOCs using PL310 controllers, power_ctrl register is not
accessible from non-secure software even on PL310 versions which
support it. The secure code takes care of setting it up correctly
and power transitions are proven on these devices.
For example, AM437x has L2C-310 version r3p3 and ROM code on that
device does not support writing to L2C-310 power control register.
The L2C driver, however, tries writing to this register for all
revisions >= r3p0.
This leads to a warning dump on boot which leads most users to believe
that L2 cache is non-functional.
Since the problem is understood, and cannot be addressed through
software, replace the warning with a pr_info() while maintaining the
WARN_ON() for other truly unexpected scenarios.

By default when CONFIG_XEN and CONFIG_XEN_PVHVM kernels are
run, they will enable the PV extensions (drivers, interrupts, timers,
etc) - which is the best option for the majority of use cases.
However, in some cases (kexec not fully working, benchmarking)
we want to disable Xen PV extensions. As such introduce the
'xen_nopv' parameter that will do it.
This parameter is intended only for HVM guests as the Xen PV
guests MUST boot with PV extensions. However, even if you use

Fix the potential risk when enable config NET_DMA and ASYNC_TX. Async_tx is
lack of support in current release process of dma descriptor, all descriptors
will be released whatever is acked or no-acked by async_tx, so there is a
potential race condition when dma engine is uesd by others clients (e.g. when
enable NET_DMA to offload TCP).
In our case, a race condition which is raised when use both of talitos and
dmaengine to offload xor is because napi scheduler will sync all pending
requests in dma channels, it affects the process of raid operations due to
ack_tx is not checked in fsl dma. The no-acked descriptor is freed which is
submitted just now, as a dependent tx, this freed descriptor trigger
BUG_ON(async_tx_test_ack(depend_tx)) in async_tx_submit().

Another modification in this patch is the change of completed descriptors,
there is a potential risk which caused by exception interrupt, all descriptors
in ld_running list are seemed completed when an interrupt raised, it works fine
under normal condition, but if there is an exception occured, it cannot work as
our excepted. Hardware should not be depend on s/w list, the right way is to
read current descriptor address register to find the last completed descriptor.
If an interrupt is raised by an error, all descriptors in ld_running should not
be seemed finished, or these unfinished descriptors in ld_running will be
released wrongly.
A simple way to reproduce:
Enable dmatest first, then insert some bad descriptors which can trigger
Programming Error interrupts before the good descriptors. Last, the good
descriptors will be freed before they are processsed because of the exception
intrerrupt.
Note: the bad descriptors are only for simulating an exception interrupt. This
case can illustrate the potential risk in current fsl-dma very well.

The usage of spin_lock_irqsave() is a stronger locking mechanism than is
required throughout the driver. The minimum locking required should be used
instead. Interrupts will be turned off and context will be saved, it is
unnecessary to use irqsave.

If firmware probing worker failed it called
device_release_driver() which synchronously called
remove() pci callback. The callback in turn waited
for the worker that called it to finish resulting
in a deadlock.
Waiting for a completion instead of a worker, like
some other drivers do, doesn't seem like the best
idea either:
Syscall Worker
probe_fw()
rmmod
dev_lock()
pci->remove()
wait_for_completion()
complete_all()
device_release_driver()
dev_lock()
[sleep]
free(ar)
dev_unlock()
[resume]
There's no guarantee that Worker upon resuming can
still access any data/code of the module.
Leaving device bound to a driver is not as harmful
as deadlocking so remove the call to
device_release_driver() while a proper solution is
figured out.
